If your location has many stations broadcasting on VHF frequencies, the rabbit ears may indeed work better for those specific channels.

Modern flat antennas, like the one you tried, work well with UHF signals (ultra-high frequency), which are more common for digital TV broadcasts today. However, some locations still have several VHF channels being broadcast, and in those cases, an antenna like rabbit ears might provide stronger reception for those stations.

FrankK, indoor reception depends completely on the broadcast signal strength inside your home. If the signal isn’t strong indoors, no antenna will be able to display channels. Also, if a channel scan wasn’t performed through the TV’s menu, no channels will appear even if a signal is present.
