Hello AlonzoJ - Keep in mind that you will have to perform a new channel scan each and every time you connect a new antenna to your TV. You performed an "Auto Program" or "Channel Scan" when you set up your original antenna. If you did not rescan for channels after connecting the new antenna, any new and expected changes in channels/reception would not be accurate and would likely be much worse as you are reporting.

Keep in mind, there are several other factors that can affect your ability to receive the broadcast signal at your specific location. The biggest factors in whether any antenna can receive a signal relates to the broadcasters power & the signal strength at your specific location inside your home, the surrounding terrain, whether or not there you have a direct line of sight to the broadcast towers, meteorological conditions, large nearby structures and even the construction materials used in your dwelling. To set up an over-the-air TV antenna, first find the optimal location in your home for the antenna (https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps), ideally near a window and as high as possible, to ensure the best signal reception. Then, connect the antenna to your TV, scan for available channels using your TV's setup menu and you should be able to view channels on your TV.
