Posted .Hello LisaP - We're sorry to hear that the antenna didn't perform as expected in your location. Factors such as your distance from broadcast towers, local signal strength, and terrain can significantly affect an antenna's reception. It's possible that a different size or type of antenna might be more suitable for your area. Additionally, it's crucial to rescan for channels on your TV settings whenever you relocate the antenna; failing to do so might result in inaccurate reception and fewer channels. For assistance in finding the best antenna for your specific needs, please contact us at RCAAntennaHelp@voxxintl.com.

Posted .Hello RidglyB - Sorry to see that you experienced issues with our over-the-air TV antenna in hilly terrain. It's important to note that signal reception with the RCA antenna is affected by various factors, including topography, distance from the broadcast tower, and other objects that may cause interference. As you are experiencing, hilly terrain can impact any antennas performance by blocking or reflecting those incoming broadcast signals.

Posted .Hello JuanP - The signal strength from your local broadcast towers, at your exact location, is the major factor on whether an antenna can receive a signal. No antenna will receive a signal that isn't there. There are some locations where it is difficult to secure a watchable signal due to a lack of strong signals and other factors in the surrounding environment that can potentially (negatively) affect those signals. Some of those other factors include things such as the surrounding terrain, whether or not you have a line-of-sight to the local broadcast towers and even the materials used in construction of your dwelling have an impact on the signal strength indoors. Typically, if you can place your antenna high up, near a window that faces the direction of your local broadcast towers, you will likely have better luck getting a signal. Always remember to rescan for channels through your TV menu settings any time you move your antenna. If you did not rescan for channels after relocating the antenna, any new and expected changes in channels/reception would not be accurate and would likely be much worse. If you can send us an email at RCAAntennaHelp@voxxintl.com we would be glad to assist you in determining which antenna would be best for your location.

Posted .Hello CG123 - Sorry to read that the antenna did not work for you when you first tried it at your specific location. Hopefully we can offer a couple tips that may help get you watching Free HDTV. First of all, we want to make sure that you performed a channel scan using your TV’s menu system. This is the most important and most often over-looked step after connecting the RCA antenna to the TV. Unfortunately each TV manufacturer has a different process on how to get to the channel scan function within its menu settings, so you will have to look at your TV owners manual for those specific steps. Also, make sure your TV input is set to "Antenna" or "Air" or something similar. Also, if you can place the antenna near (or in) a window facing the broadcast tower general direction the better your chances are of receiving a signal. It also helps when you completely uncoil the antennas cable before running the channel scan. If all of that does not work, I would check your TV to ensure that it does indeed have an ATSC tuner which is needed to receive today’s digital broadcast signals. Most TV's built around 2007 have this type of tuner. An easy way to find out is by finding your TV model number and doing a Quick Google Search for your TV model number. The type of tuner should be an “ATSC” (not an NTSC) as mentioned above. If it does not, you will need to purchase a digital converter box. If you can send us a quick email to RCAAntennaHelp@voxxintl.com with your zip code we can take a look to see what other specific information we may be able to provide to help you get watching Free HDTV.

Pick up more than 100 Local Channels for FREE!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna is simple in design, but delivers on its’ promise to give you many more local high definition television station programming for free. I’ve been using the amplified antenna for the past few days now and was even able to watch Super Bowl 50 this past Sunday without any issues. The RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna arrived to my home in a small well packaged box that was filled with enough packaging material that ensured nothing inside was damaged during shipping. I was able to find everything I needed as soon as I opened the box, including a start-up guide. The main unit is thin, lite in weight and has a nice black matte color finish. It is a sleek design that should fit in well with other items in your house regardless the room it’s placed in. The set up was fairly easy as I simply attached the cable to the back of my television and then to the back of the RCA antenna base. Next I plugged in the base and connected it to a power source. I later downloaded the signal finder app., entered my home address, chose the TV stations I wanted and attempted to aim the antenna poles in the direction recommended by the illustration on my phone. According to RCA, the amplified indoor HDTV antenna has a range of 45 miles. I was able to see that there were towers about 30 miles away from my home and pointed the antenna poles in that direction. I began the search method on my TV and watched the number of digital channels it found. I was able to find 128 channels the first search. I did another search and was only able to find 109 channels. Nevertheless, in each search, the number of television stations I found was double what I was able to find utilizing my traditional standard antenna. A lot of the channels I was able to get appeared in 1080 and some had dolby audio or stereo. However, everything wasn’t perfect with this set up the first go around. The app isn’t really user friendly. It’s not layout well and a bit confusing. You never really understand if you have the best signal and there’s no way to ensure you have the best signal for your desired TV stations since you don’t move the antennas around during the searching process. It would be nice if you were able to select the channels you preferred and then began the scan to locate the best location for the base and the direction you should aim the antenna “ears”. Also, I wish I didn’t have to plug in yet another device to watch television. I am not certain if the plugged in base helps more. I was able to still watch free TV without the unit being plugged in. Additionally, the cord is only six feet long while a lot of people have their televisions mounted on the wall and six feet just isn’t enough. I had to leave the base hanging on the edge of the couch near the TV. In closing, the RCA Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna is a good item to own even if you have a cable package or utilize other streaming services. Some cable companies charge extra to get local channels, this would help you avoid paying that monthly premium. There are times when the internet goes out or there are problems with your cable provider. If and when that occurs, this antenna will be extremely helpful to keep you connected and aware of what’s going on while your streaming services are not working. The price point is so low that within a couple months it will pay for itself.

Posted .Hello Carlos - Keep in mind that there are also several other factors that can negatively affect your ability to receive the broadcast signal at your specific location. Each antenna installation location is 100% unique and typically presents its own set of challenges. Objects such as tree foliage, building construction type and materials, metal roofing materials and the physical terrain (mountains & hills) of the land all play significant roles and may severely block the incoming signals at your specific location. If using an indoor antenna, aluminum or steel siding, metal lathe used under older plaster walls, and metal mesh under exterior stucco all can also impact the incoming broadcast signals. When looking at signal strength ratings online, keep in mind that those signal strength ratings are taken at a height of about 30 feet with zero obstructions. As no two antenna installations are 100% identical, reception seemingly always varies from neighbor to neighbor and even from room-to-room even within the same house. Also mileage ratings placed on antenna packaging are merely provided as a general guide to antenna performance and those ratings can vary substantially based on all of the above mentioned items that can potentially affect those local incoming broadcast signals.

Posted .Hello DeniceW- We did review the FCC data for Keller, TX & see there are quiet a large selection of over-the-air broadcast stations available in that area. Hopefully you did run a channel scan through your TV menu settings. That is the most often over-looked step after connecting your antenna to your TV. Keep in mind, there are several other factors that can affect your ability to receive the broadcast signal at your specific location. The biggest factors in whether an antenna can receive a signal relates to the broadcasters power and the signal strength at your specific location, the surrounding terrain, whether or not there is an actual line of sight to the broadcast towers, meteorological conditions, large nearby structures and the construction materials used in your dwelling. If you can send us a quick email to RCAAntennaHelp@voxxintl.com with your zip code we can take a look to see what other specific information we may be able to provide to help you get watching Free HDTV.

Posted .Hello Designerd - Hopefully you took the time to perform a channel scan through your TV’s menu system as noted in the Owner's Manual as-well-as the Quick Start Guide of the antenna. This is the most important and most often over-looked step after connecting the antenna to the TV. Each TV manufacturer has a different process on how to get to the channel scan function within its menu settings, so please refer to your TV owners manual for the specific steps. After performing the channel scan, make sure your TV input is set to "Air/Antenna" or similar and not "Cable" within your TV menu settings. Remember, If you can place the antenna near (or in) a window facing the broadcast tower general direction the better your chances are of receiving a signal. The signal strength from the broadcast tower at your particular location is the single most important factor on whether or not an antenna can receive a signal. If that does not work, I would check your TV to ensure that it does indeed have an ATSC tuner which is needed to receive today’s digital broadcast signals. Most TV's built after 2007 have this type of tuner. If it does not, you will need to purchase a digital converter box. Hope this helps.
