I still use the radio shack one to this day. Put this one in a drawer for emergencies.

Posted .Hello ShrimpyDonut - Sorry to hear that this antenna did not as expected at your specific location. Hopefully you did run a new channel scan through your TV menu settings. If you did not rescan for channels after relocating the antenna, any new and expected changes in channels/reception would not be accurate and would likely be much worse.

Posted .Hi NathanielH – For any new antenna, a channel scan is required for your TV to detect available stations in your area. This step is noted in both the Owner’s Manual and the Quick Start Guide that came with the antenna. Without performing a channel scan, no channels will appear, even if the antenna is connected correctly.

Horrible Performer

The antenna barely brings them in. Being an engineer and ham radio type, I can only conclude that these antenna manufacturers use an optimal high power transmitter vs. 95% reality. Same thing goes for the 16 mile range FRS/GMRS handi talkies that maybe get you a half mile. So for this antenna, it's advertised maximum range of 55 miles is utterly false. It should read 12 at best outside and 5 inside.

Posted .Hello NorthIdaho - Sorry to hear that this antenna did not perform very well at your specific location. Hopefully you did run a channel scan through your TV menu settings. That is the most often over-looked step after connecting your antenna to your TV. There are several other factors that can affect your ability to receive the broadcast signal at your specific location as you well know. The biggest factors in whether an antenna can receive a signal relates to the broadcasters power and the signal strength at the your specific location inside your house, the surrounding terrain, meteorological conditions, large nearby structures and even the construction materials used in your dwelling. If you are located in an area that broadcasts over-the-air signals in VHF, unfortunately VHF stations broadcast signals are broadcast at significantly less power thus do not travel as far as UHF signals and are more susceptible to impulse noise (RF interference) which may be present at your location. There are many items that could cause RF interference (CFL light bulbs, WiFi, microwave, etc..) and typically they are worse in the morning or at night when there are more things "on". Mileage performance varies in virtually every situation so making a 100% claim to a specific mileage antenna (55 Miles) is very tough from a marketing standpoint. The mileage ratings are provided as a reference point to compare to other products currently being supplied in the market and keep in mind that signal strength ratings are taken at a height of approximately 30 feet with zero obstructions.
