Bought 2 of these antennas for a relative and an acquaintance and both have reported good reception with them. Have not tried either without the included power supply so I can't review that part of it.

We stopped the monthly cable bill and switched all 3 TVs to HDTV antennas. Don't miss at all the big cable channels but love the channels we pick up on the antennas. Love the savings of over $1,000 per year!

h2oskitx, the first step is always running a TV channel scan (Auto Program)—without a channel scan, your TV will not display any channels, even if the antenna is connected correctly. Next, the single most important factor for any antenna is the signal strength inside your home—if usable signal isn’t present at your location, no antenna can receive signal that isn’t there. Trees, hills/terrain, tall buildings, metal siding, and even the direction and distance to broadcast towers can significantly reduce signal strength. A few setup tips that often help are placing the antenna higher on a wall or near a window facing the broadcast towers, fully uncoiling the coax cable (do not coil extra cable), and re-running a channel scan after every antenna move. You can also verify the stations/tower distances for your address here: https://www.fcc.gov/media/engineering/dtvmaps

The antenna was better than I expected. We just bought a new home and needed a tv to work before we moved our cable set-up. Some channels came in better than others and I’m glad I had it for the 2 weeks we didn’t have cable.

MikeR, the first and most important step when setting up any TV antenna is performing a channel scan through the TV’s menu. If a channel scan is not completed, the TV will not display any channels even if a signal is present.

The next critical factor is signal strength inside the home, which is the single most important factor in determining whether any antenna can receive channels. If there is not enough usable over-the-air signal available at the antenna’s location, no indoor antenna will be able to receive channels that are not present.

Finally, reception can be affected by environmental factors such as distance from broadcast towers, surrounding buildings, trees, terrain, metal siding, or placing the antenna behind walls or electronics. The Quick Start Guide and instruction booklet included in the box explain these setup steps.

This may work if you’re located close to the TV stations, but we picked up very little. Also, the connection cord wasn’t long enough to give you a lot of flexibility to place the antenna in the optimal spot for best reception. The channels we did pick up (only a couple) were not the stations we were hoping to see. Disappointed, but it just didn’t work for us. We returned it the next day.

Hello iPhoneSE - The signal strength at your location is one of the major factors on whether an antenna can receive a signal or not. Unfortunately there are some locations where it is difficult to get a great viewing experience with some antennas. If you can send us an email at [email protected] we would be glad to assist you in determining which antenna would be best for your location. We love to hear when people are ready to Cut-The-Cord! Some other factors when it comes to selecting a proper antenna for your location include factors like the surrounding terrain, whether or not you have a line-of-sight to the broadcast towers and even materials used in construction of your dwelling have an impact on the signal indoors. In most instances, if you can place your antenna high up, near a window, facing the direction of your local broadcast towers you generally have better luck getting a signal. Always remember to rescan for channels through your TV menu settings any time you move your antenna.
