I purchased this after the batteries exploded in my OEM remote. I did not realize when I purchased but the rechargeable option is great! No more batteries!

This one can not be controlled by voice and has to be aimed directly at the tv to work. None of this is bestbuys fault, it’s on me for not doing my research.

One can easily control their TV, Streaming player and Soundbar/Audio using this remote. 2. Compatibility with multiple brands of TVs, Streaming Devices and Soundbars. We can either auto configure or manually configure using the pre-programmed codes. 3. USB C charging - I wish all the remotes have charging option available instead of removable battery. RCA has nailed it by choosing the charging option and that too USB-C. This is the future. 4. Quick access keys - These are extremely helpful. Especially the button for Youtube is not present in Roku. Apart from Youtube there are also buttons for Netflix(N), Disney (D) and Hulu. 5. Ultra thin - This remote is just ½ inches thin and weighs only 1.6 ounces (45 gms) 6. 40 ft coverage - This remote covers upto 40 ft distance. I have tested around 20 feet and it was working fine without any issues. So i believe it should work upto 40 feet far without any issues. 7. Battery life - Battery life as per the specification will last for upto 6 months which is exceptional. 8. Auto power off - RCA has really applied their thought in providing the auto-power off when any of the remote button is pressed for more than 15 seconds. Especially this will be helpful when the remote gets stuck in the couch. This will greatly increase the battery life. 9. Setup - Setup was overall easy. Especially the Roku was preconfigured. I had to just configure my LG TV using the Auto code search which took about a minute. For my Bose Soundbar it took a little over 2 min as i had to key in couple of different codes using manual setup. Note - It is better to charge the battery fully before using it. I charged it for about few hours before the charging indicator turned from red to green. Also we can reset the remote anytime by using a paper clip in the Reset hole present in the back of the remote. Cons: 1. Buttons - Buttons are a bit hard especially the Up, Down, Left and Right directional buttons. RCA should consider changing the design of these buttons as it is sometimes required to press the button couple of more times in order to operate it. 2. Sensitivity - Sensor sensitivity is just average. We have to point it straight to the device or 10 to 20 degrees away in order to operate it. If it is bit more than that the Remote doesn't work. I wish the remote sensitivity was as good as Roku remote or atleast half of it. 3. Manual setup - Manual setup using the pre-programmed codes is a little tough as it requires us to have the instruction manual to know which button is for which number. It would have been nice if the numbers were mentioned in the keys in a smaller font to make it easier. 4. Not Backlit - It would have been nice if the remote had the Backlit feature which will be helpful especially in the night. But at this price point we cannot ask for more.

Posted .Hello RoxanaE - It looks like this review was placed on our RCA universal remote, but you mentioned Philips in your comment. For almost all universal remotes, not all buttons will provide full functionality on every TV brand, as universal remotes typically do only guarantee core features.

I can’t even use it. Samsung says it is not their problem, RCA says they don’t support remotes, and the wonderful BESTBUY total plan that I purchased allowed me to chat with geek squad where the agent told me he/she would set up an instore appointment or they could come out for $103.99…not even an option to help me trouble shoot. And to make matters a little more clear, when the remote initially worked, I purchased a 2nd remote for another tv. I tried to set this one up as well in case maybe a button was stuck - same issue happened. Now i am stuck with 2 remotes that don’t work and no one to help.

Since both remotes showed the same scrolling behavior, it's unlikely that two units would coincidentally have stuck buttons. This may instead indicate an improper code entry or, in some cases, a TV model that isn’t fully compatible—despite Samsung generally being one of the most supported and reliable brands with our universal remotes. While there is a single code listed for Sonos, it's worth noting that most Sonos products offer very limited support for IR remote functionality.

Posted .Hello Patroit162 – The remote is compatible with many Roku streaming boxes and TVs, but there are exceptions. This remote may not directly control Roku Streaming Sticks (which plug directly into the HDMI port and use RF or Wi-Fi remotes). or Roku soundbars that do not use traditional IR remote signals. If you are using a Roku box (not a stick), there are multiple codes listed in the manual for programming, and it may require trying each one or using the Auto Code Search to enable full functionality. Compatibility details are provided on the packaging and in the manual.
