My Dish 722k remote barely worked in #2 bedroom, added this device and wow, it works everytime and I dont eat throgh batteries every 4 days, I HIGHLY recommend this if you use Dishnet IR remotes on 2nd room

Bought this so I could could control a remote cable box. Setup is fast First problem - documentation says the transmitter will blink when it receives an IR signal. It does not. Contacted the manufacturer, they confirmed it does not. This makes it harder to know what the problem is when it's not working. First unit failed in one week. Best Buy exchanged it with no packaging and no receipt, because my purchase history is available in RewardZone. Thank you Best Buy. Second unit has been working for about 2 weeks now. Performance same as first.

My audio/video equipemnt is in a closed cabinet in the same room as the tv. The transmitter is located under the tv and the receiver is in the cabinet with my equipment. Works great. I read some reviews and because the transmitter and receiver are close together, I keep the antenas all the way down. The only minor issue I see is that it seems slow to respond when you first turn on the TV, but it woks fine a couple minutes later.

It was great and I set it up with in a few minutes. I almost bought a IR repeater kit that I would have had to install in the wall and use CAT wires to connect. This was a simple plug in and use system.

It does exactly what you want it to do once you make the proper adjustment. I used a flathead screwdriver to separate the top from the bottom and then used pliers to cut away the mesh, five minutes later I was left with a great product.

Read this thread and you will find instructions by another reviewer wo shows you how to remove the gold mesh on the transmitter. After this modification the unit will work, however you will have to play with the placement of the transmitter and receiver. You will still have to have the remote control close to the transmitter to get it to work, but it will at least function. I would recomend this product only if you are willing to do the modification as outlined below.

Works well with our living room. We keep all our electronics in a closet and set this out by our coffee table and it works great!

Like other reviewers, I agree that this works much better if the gold mesh is removed. We use this in the kitchen so we don't need a lot of distance and, as modified, it provides more then enough.

I purchased one set of these to hide my components in our movie room. I was able to modify the IR eyes by adding a 16' long piece of wire to the harness and this operates my completely hidden Epson projector flawlessly! Another bonus, I added a LCD TV above my fireplace in the adjoining room. I did not want to have any additional components and I lacked room to house them there. I purchased another one of these and set it up near the new TV with long cables to my components and both IR transmitters "speak" with the single IR repeater perfectly!

This WIRELESS remote control extender is ideal for me. I am using it with my TV. Being a female I had a little trouble understanding some of the tec language in the instructions which was no problem. They have a customer service number to call for help. I called it and they walked me right through the installation! Now I am veiwing my favorite channels through my bedroom wall into my bathroom using my bedroom remote with just a click of the button! I defintely would recommend the purchase of this item!

Very easy hook up, very easy to use. Works just like being in the same room. Would recommend to a friend.

This IR Repeater works great! Setup is a snap and it's much less expensive then those RF remotes!

We struggled with placing the receiver in different locations but regardless of where we placed it, the only successful signal that can be pushed requires you to be no more than 2 feet away from and you must be in front of the receiver. That's not convenient or practical. Got this unit for our bedroom. I have to crawl across my sleeping husband with my remote and change the channel by aiming the controller at his nightstand. Would work better if I could place the receiver on his head or his pillow but that's not likely to happen. It's too late to get my money back but they were only $40 so it was a few dollars wasted. I would not recommend this product.

I bought this to use the cable box in the bedroom on the patio TV outside. I opened the package, plugged them in and everything worked great with no adjustments. Sometimes life is just perfect.

I am a techie from way back. And I hope that by writing this review it will save someone the time, effort and the money from the purchasing this ... well I can't say how bad this object is. IT DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO WHAT THE DESCRIPTION TELLS YOU IT WILL DO. Through doors, windows etc. Won't happen. The extenders are worthless. Spend the extra $$ for the upgrades you will be happier. And bye the way you won't have ugly square boxes sitting on your table in front of your equipment. Isn't that why you wanted buy one of these things anyway? So you had less equipment to see?

the only thing i was trying to accomplinsh was hiding my DVR, first off i set the transmitter near my TV. the unit would not work so when i finally got in phone contact with the manufacturer (who works the same hours i do) they informed me this was the best product on the market, however the transmitter had to be within 5 to 7ft. from the remote. that means i had to set this ugly transmitter with a power cord running to it and an antenna on my end table! well, that didn't work either, and yes i did remove the gold foil. basically i had interference at my receiver even after i installed the receiver wire. needless to say it has been over 30 days since i purcahed this unit and Bes Buy will not give me a refund. if there was a Best Buy in town at the timie i purchased the unit I would have taken in back, so now i have a $55.00 piece of trash! Google Next Generation Remote Control Extender, totally awesome!!

This device does not add up to its promotion. We have to leave our closet door half-way open, not all the way open, not all the way closed. Then it isn't perfect. Pay the extra bucks for the RF and be happy.

Was trying to find a solution for hiding the DVR and Blu-Ray player in the closet. I read the reviews first, and thought it would be no problem removing the gold fabric covering the IR eye. Before removing the mesh (which you really shouldn't have to do in the first place) I got about 4-5 foot range between the remote and transmitter, after removing the gold mesh...about 4-5 ft. Everytime I want to change the channel or FF the DVR I have to get off the couch and stand right in front of the unit. I've found myself wondering "why do I even have a remote control if I have to get up to change the channel?" On the other hand, when I stand 2 feet from the transmitter it works awesome...Unless you sit less than 6ft from your TV, SAVE YOUR MONEY and keep looking for a better solution. You will have to pay $90-120 on a unit that works but it not worth the frustration of this ultimate engineering disaster.

Great product for right price, the salesperson was correct with his knowledge of the product for what I needed.

No matter what I tried I could not get this thing to work unless I was standing in one particular spot about 5' away from the transmitter. The receiver was directly above the ceiling and literally less then 4' away from the transmitter. I even tried the IR extender but no dice. The problem seemed to be with the transmitter that receives the signal from the remote control not having any range. I even replaced the batteries in the remote but no change occured. I am not sure why BestBuy still carries this thing with all the bad reviews. It sure gave me my share of headaches. I purchased the MasterControl 8-function Learing Remost RFS100. We'll see how it works. The price was about 2.5 x as much but the reviews are all good on that one. We'll see.
