    A great western game

I've never really given much attention to westerns, and I can understand why this game may not be for everyone. However, after seeing trailers, it got my attention. I figured I'd give it a try. I'm not very far into the game, but I am absolutely enjoying it so far. I can see where some people may say this is slow, and I feel the controls need a little getting used to. The style of this game I think are for certain people and not everyone. But I love it, the story, side missions, seeing the western lifestyle. The game is beautiful.

What else can i say that other reviewers haven't already, this game is what you expect to come out of Rockstar games. The new character Arthur is a very relate-able and believable character that as you play the story it will have you completely immersed in his life. The graphics of this game are just incredible, from the forests and the swamps you visit, to the life like cities of the industrialized cities. You will want to just ride on your horse just staring at the amazing views!

I have been playing this game exclusively since I restarted it last summer. I am up to nearly 400 hours of play time. I initially purchased and put about 50 hours into it upon release. I liked it then, but it just got boring after a while. But when I finally gave it another chance (on the PS4), something clicked. Everything started to make sense. I soon understood the mechanics that seemed purposely slow and clunky were, in fact, on purpose. I simply cannot stop playing this game. After getting 100% in Story Mode (a prerequisite I made for myself before I could start Red Dead Online), I finally jumped into the online portion. The immense amount of time I put into the story paid off I’m online. Something that can seem absolutely overwhelming at first became like second nature. I love this game and I love living in this world. It’s the most absorbing game I’ve ever played in my life. It may very well end up being my all time favorite which is currently a game that has held that spot in my mind for 23 years. If you tried it and found it boring, give it another chance. You will be treated to the most engrossing and rewarding gaming experience in a very long time, and possibly of all time. I’ve exclusively played FromSoftware titles since the release of Dark Souls. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the first and only game that’s been able to capture my attention away from these games and I see no end in sight to my time with Red Dead Redemption 2.

I didn't play the last Red Dead Redemption, however I was never really a Grand Theft Auto person and had my skepticisms about this game. However, there is no denying this is a technical marvel in gaming. The world is vast and beautiful, the characters are intriguing, the action is intense, and Rockstar did an amazing job with their attention to detail. The game can be a little slow at times with it's travel and dialogue, but I feel it's intended to make you sit back and appreciate the experience. One thing everyone should do though upon starting the game is to adjust your settings. Turn dead zone to zero and look sensitivity all the way up. I highly recommend people check this game out, although it might not be for the inpatient and kids.

I work everyday and I usually play this once or twice a week, but at 3+ hours at a time. This game is nice to play alone without any distractions so you can further be immersed in this very realistic open world. This game is insanely detailed. Every area of the game has been beautifully crafted to feel real and alive. The story's main character, Arthur, is one of the best characters rockstar has created. This game took me over 100 hours to pass and I immediately wanted to restart the journey

Not only was I excited to return to the world of the first Red Dead Redemption, I could not wait to explore the lives of the characters before everything went awry for them. This game is GORGEOUS and the story is one that may bring a tear to your eye at the end. Highly recommended.

    High Expectations Met!

It's amazing how frequently content (gaming, movies, etc.) can be over-hyped to the point that once you consume it, it just doesn't hold up to the hype; RDII lives up to hype generated during the long awaited release. Is it perfect? No, but any of us can find flaws in even the most scrutinized content or product before release. The real question is whether those items detract from the overall experience or fail to impart new experiences or a depth of knowledge that gives more meaning. That doesn't exist here. It can be slow at times and there are some pieces that you must commit to but those requirements bring a greater amount of depth and realism to the experience. It's well balanced and worth it in my opinion.

Rdr2 has just about everything I ever wanted in an open-world game. You don't need to play any other Red Dead titles to understand what is going on in this one, but if you feel like it - maybe watch a video online that summaries the first one. I couldn't remember everything that happened the first time around and did this just to refresh my memory. While it was completely unnecessary, because this game is great on its own, it was kind of cool to see how this story folds in to the first rdr. They mesh well and there wasn't any inconsistencies that I noticed. The story is really intriguing and keeps you motivated to keep moving forward, but don't go too quick! While you can rush through the main game in about 24 hours give or take, I don't recommend it. There are so many side missions and special areas to explore, characters to meet and help out. I'm not sure how much time I've put in to this game at this point, but it is a lot. I'm sure I'm over 100 hours by the time I finished it. I took my time, searched for treasures, robbed a lot of stuff, looked for side-quest missions from strange characters, located cigarette cards and dream catchers and just about everything else, and so on. The controls are getting better in Rockstar games - I was never a fan of the original GTA games at first because I thought the controls were so awful - but they make sense the way they're set up here and a little tighter. The graphics are right up there among the best you'll see on ps4 and the soundtrack keeps you in the game, too. Most of the voice-acting gets an A+ and the voice-acting that doesn't is usually from a minor side-charcter that you don't have to worry abut hearing for too long. Otherwise, great job, cast! Sure, I ran in to some glitches along the way, but they were few and far between and typically Rockstar would run regular updates that seemed to fix them, so no big deal. I was sad when I realized I was nearing 100% completion as I knew I would eventually be done with just about everything and it'd be time to move on to the next game. That said - there is an online component and there is always more you can go back and do if you like, so I guess it is never really "over" in that sense. I was very invested in the characters and it isn't easy to pull off what Rockstar did here by getting you to believe in and come to know 23 different characters at your camp on a somewhat personal level. Overall, if you're not sure about buying the game, do yourself a favor and just pick up a copy. You won't regret it.

Rockstar made the most beautiful, fun, graphically amazing, intense, story driven, and gripping game ever made. If you buy this game you will do no other activities until it is finished from the addiction created from this master piece.

One of my favorite games ever played

I’m by no means a hardcore gamer but can handle my own in most games. I played the old 90 games of doom, quake etc. It’s been 20 years since I played any first person shooter game. The game was longer than any other one I’ve played. I was able to complete all the missions except one. The one where Arthur and Bill stole the dynamite. I tried over 10x but I would either die or the wagon would blow up. I either didn’t have the right weapon or didn’t know how to beat the mission. I just gave up and skipped the checkpoint. Another than that, this will go down as one of my favorite games.
