RDR 2 is a breathtaking game. Its sense of immersion is unparalleled and its storytelling sets a new bar for video games. The open world is beautiful, massive and interactive. You never know what you're going to see next. Rockstar's incredible pedigree speaks for itself, but this game is a true marvel. This is one of the best open world games ever. The weak spot you may feel though would be in its gameplay. I enjoy it but some may not. It's a very lifelike game for better or worse. Some feel the gameplay feels slow, clunky and realistic to a fault. This is true to some degree but it's not like the gameplay is awful. It's still fun but I believe Rockstar's intention was to really make you feel like you are in the old west. There are games that play better than this one, but this game does so much else right that is unmatched. It has a breathtaking attention to detail with an engaging story. Few games hit this level of quality. It's a special one.

First the game looks amazing! Characters are great. There's tons of missions and side missions to do. Huge open world. My only problem is the pacing of this game. It feels too slow. And sometimes controlling the character feels sluggish too. It's like the game is forcing you to slow down. That's my only problem and so far not taking the first place for my favorite game of 2018. But it's still a great game.

This is by far the best looking game so far on the PS4 Pro. I know a lot of games look great but in RDR 2 Rockstar really took their time to make every little detail stand out in this game. From shadows to environmental effects, you literally immerse yourself in this game. I have spent countless hours just traveling around the huge open world map. You can go anywhere and you never know what kind of crazy things you'll run into or do. This game will keep you busy for a long while if you do all the little side missions and you should as they are fun and some are crazy! Don't miss out on this great title from Rockstar. You don't even need to know the story from the original RDR since its a pre-qual. But if you become a fan as I have been of this game for a long time, you owe it to yourself to play the original too. Happy shooting, hunting or what ever other craziness you get yourself into in this game.

RDR2 builds upon the triumphs of its predecessor with a massive open world that is so incredibly detailed you’ll forget it’s even a video game. The game also has one of the best Rockstar stories to date with a host of well written and interesting characters.

The first Red Dead Redemption was one of my favorite games on the previous generation of consoles, so I had high anticipation for this one. And while it doesn’t capture the same magic of the first, Red Dead Redemption II is an amazing game in its own right. The game starts slow, too slow, but once the story and map open up, it’s as focused or deliberate as the player wants. I chose to play through tackling most of the side missions, which are generally worthwhile. Meanwhile, the main missions are compelling, often with impressive set-pieces and score/musical cues. And it’s not spoiling anything to say the epilogue was my favorite part of the game. The controls can be frustrating (such as when trying to pick up or interact with a small object), but the game as a whole is a rousing, if not methodical, success.

The Story of the game is amazing, and the game play is amazing as well. The only down side of the game is that it takes forever to get to point A to Point B because you have to travel on a horse, but that part does make it feel real.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a game that has received much praise and criticism for its ambitious and realistic portrayal of the American Old West. It is a game that offers a vast and immersive open world, a compelling story, and a variety of activities and features. However, it is also a game that suffers from some tedious and frustrating mechanics, stiff controls, and a slow pace.

Fun Game Only After A Very Long Opening

First off the Negatives: This game does not play like classic Rockstar games (GTA V). The game is very drawn out and everything you seems to take forever to complete. When you ride to town or to a mission location on your horse, it may take 10-15 of sitting there doing nothing but watching the screen. (Boring) Not everything is explained in the game and Fast Travel is not opened up until you upgrade your camp. The Controls are very clunky and some options are hidden in your pop up wheel and take up to 3 button holds to open up something. Looting a body takes 3 seconds at least, not terrible but when you have to go through 20 dead bodies, it seems forever. All the other aspects of the game (hunting, fishing, upgrades, and mini-games) seem added on and are not really necessary to complete the game. Another thing I didn't care for was that you have to maintain your personal hygiene (shave & bathe), clean your guns, and care for your horse (brush and wash it). This game feels like a cowboy simulator at times. The Positives: Beautiful graphics. Interaction between npc's is usually fun (hold down L2 on PS4) to interact. The missions are the usual Rockstar variety. Exploring caves for hidden gold bars was fun. Deadeye remains in the game and is always a pleasure to mow down enemies. Overall: This is a fun game but will test your patience. It's pace is very slow and some may not like that. Chapter 1 of 6 is about an hour and a half long and is the most boring intro to any video game I have ever played. If you can get past Chapter 1 the game really establishes itself and the fun begins. 8/10

The original Red Dead Redemption was a masterpiece that captured the style of classic western films while serving up a fun amount of action-filled gameplay, all told through a powerful and emotional journey of its key protagonist, John Marston. RDR2 dials back the clock 12 years, to long before John embarked on a quest to save his family. Arthur Morgan takes the lead this time around, in the final days of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang as they struggle to find their place in a world that seeks the end of all outlaws. The gunplay is as solid as the original Redemption, now boasting a wider selection of weapons, all with extensive customization options that allow for both greater firepower, as well as giving players a personal touch to their arsenal. Additionally, RPG elements allow for Morgan to grow stronger and become a better gunslinger, with a variety of options that can boost the player's skills to new heights. Hunting also returns, and is far more fleshed out than it was in the original RDR. With nearly 200 kinds of animals to hunt and kill with your extensive collection of weapons, collecting pelts and other animal parts offers all the thrills of real-life hunting without any of the risk or harm to actual animals. Furthermore, the numerous upgrades that can be unlocked by claiming intact pelts will entice many players to spend hours in the virtual wilderness. RDR2 still suffers from some of the technical hiccups that plagued its predecessor, such as glitches and touchy controls. Thankfully, there are many options to tailor one's experience and make the game more manageable. Regardless, the masterfully-written story and solid gameplay will surely consume many a player's time for weeks to come.

Probably the best looking open world in any game I've ever seen. Some of the movement and controls are a little finicky, but it's worth getting past that to experience the missions, characters, and story. Highly recommended.

Think of Grand Theft Auto but in the Wild West. Same concepts, do missions or roam the land causing trouble. The story line is great along with the gameplay. There's alot of little details in the game to look out for and you'll probably spend alot of time hunting for pelts/skins. Some good changes is the way the "Wanted" mechanic works. A different method of punishment for causing trouble in town. If you cause trouble the Sheriff will hunt you down, When you manage to flee, a bounty is placed on your head. The difference here is that you can return to town and not get shot at by the sheriff. However every now and then, wherever you're at, bounty hunters will come after you. In order to remove it, you need to pay a large sum of money to have it go away.

If you liked Grand Theft Auto V, you’ll love this game. This game is basically Grand Theft Auto in the old West. Lovers of the show Deadwood and the old Clint Eastwood movies like the spaghetti westerns will not be able to stop playing this game. It puts you in control of the old west. With very similar controls as GTA V, get ready to spend hours playing it. You will take on missions to help yourself and other characters in the game, meeting new people and accomplishing tasks. This is one of the most addictive games I have ever played. Rockstar spent eight years making it, and if you ask me, it paid off.
