Saw a few mixed reviews but if your a true resident evil fan you will appreciate the game plus for newbies as well

I was super excited to buy this game. Especially for the fact I loved the original RE2. They did a fantastic job at keeping main things to the original. But changed it just enough to keep our interested and on your toes. I would recommend this to anyone who has a taste for horror games. This game has a great balance of scares, puzzles, looting, and shooting.

The game stays true to the source while optimizing where appropriate and making the story more modern. Very fun game that invites multiple play-throughs.

Really brought back the fear and tension the way you remember it from 20 years ago. Tons of replay value and actually pretty scary. Well worth the wait.

This remake of the classic RE2 is phenomenal! It stays true to the original while feeling fresh and slick.

This game will be loved by original fans and new fans. They didn't just update the game (like they did when they remastered RE1 for the Gamecube) but they actually added new puzzles, scenarios, etc. Basically if you go in thinking that you know RE2 like the back of your hand (because you spent hours playing it in 1998), you are wrong. This will be an entirely new experience for you. Yes, it's the same story, but that's not the only thing that drives this game. If you like survival horror games, and/or was a fan of the original RE2, definitely pick this game up.

Playing this game remastered I’m reliving my childhood again, the graphics are awesome and the controls are solid. Any fan of RE should get this game.

If you're on the fence about getting this game, thinking that everything would be the same as before in the 1998 release, you would be dead wrong. This reimagining of RE2 feels and breathes like a totally new game--you never know what to expect around the corner! The atmosphere is scary. The enemies are tougher. New gameplay dynamics borrowed from the best aspects of the previous iterations of the RE franchise are here, such as the disposable one-use defense weapons. Refinements across the board. The best aspect of the game is in its balance and difficulty. Zombies are no longer easy enemies to dispatch once encountered. You are meant to be afraid of them, wanting to avoid them at all costs to save precious resources like ammunition and health-related items. You are given everything you will ever need if you are frugal, given the game's adaptivity, but you must master the art of preservation, patience, and cunning to outsmart the next deadly enemy encounter. Zombies do not always stay dead! To up the ante, Mr. X (Tyrant) is now a perpetual threat, constantly pursuing you in the varying environments that you will explore and keeping you on your toes while solving puzzles in real-time and while dispatching other enemies in your path. You have to try your best to lose him in corridors and adjacent rooms, and finding ways to quietly dispatch enemies from alerting him to your presence. Sounds really hard on paper, but you will go through a steep learning curve to master this new gameplay mechanic. The only negatives of the game lie in its overall length (8-9 hrs per scenario), lack of enemy and alternate second-game variation, and demanding nature for you to learn how to progress naturally through puzzle-solving, enemy pursuit, and limited resources. It's a game about being smart during a zombie apocalypse! There are the same unlockable modes as before after completing the game, such as running through a second, alternate scenario with different cut-scenes and puzzles, and there are planned free DLC coming very soon. It is like the previous RE2 scenarios A and B combined into one playthrough, actually. Get this game if you are a fan of the franchise and enjoy some classic RE mechanics from previous games mixed up with the latest RE games. It's definitely game of the year!

An incredible remaster of a classic game. The most atmospheric game I've played in a very long time. Everything clicks. Survival horror at it's best.

Great remake. Looks great on the PS5. Lighting and music add to the intensity especially when bullets run low.

Controls way better than the original, but I would hope so after a couple of decades. Also, the graphics and scare factor are incredible!

This is the resident evil game I’ve been wanting to play since Resident Evil 4 was introduced. Amazing graphics, right controls and terrifying!

I definitely love the Resident Evil games, but I've never actually played any of them aside from Revelations 2. Then after the 2018 E3 trailer and the build up marketing of the remake, I gained enough courage to purchase and play the game. AND holy bananas it's wiz my pants scary! Building off the RE7 engine and pulling back the camera so the player is slightly taken but not too out of the experience made this game both terrifying and a fantastic play through. It does the original justice and allows fans to be hopeful for the series' future.

Resident Evil 2 is a game that many people have fond memories from the PSX. The remake does an amazing job of bring back those nostalgic feelings but also making a fun modern action game. Those who have played the original will feel right at home in the environments and the sense of claustrophobia as supplies dwindle away after a harrowing encounter, but it combines the action stylings of the latter RE games, (4,5,6) in a perfect blend of action and management. The graphics are amazing and the sound design really jumps out at you

This is a great game for anyone who has never played the original to jump in and experience. As a fan of the resident evil franchise, I think Capcom did a great job with this remake. From the mechanics to the graphics, the game is top notch.. it's a little on the short side, but since it's staying true to the original, it was to be expected.

Been a fan of resident evil since I was young! This game doesn't disappoint, the graphics are amazing and the story is intense! A must have.

I cannot put in to words how impressed I am with what the team at Capcom did in remastering what was considered a masterpiece of its time. I remember spectating as my older cousin played the original and would let me play from time to time, mostly because I was too scared. That same fear has returned to me as I begin to delve into this piece of art. Some would feel that the removal of fixed camera angles takes away from what the old game put you through, however the team did it with a true mood setter in the darkness of this game.

My first game for Playstation was RE 2: Dual Shock Edition. I remember saving my money and getting my PlayStation (that's right. PS1 folks) and the game brand new. Then popping it in and getting jump scared when the controller vibrated at "RESIDENT EVIL". This game is true love letter to the franchise. It is different. But is very thorough. I definitely had to turn the brightness up on my tv, but overall its really great.
