Haven’t played much of the RE franchise but this got me interested. If you have a PSVR then you’re about to be blown away.

It's been a long wait for another great Resident Evil game—arguably since the original release of 4 over a decade ago. This might not really be a Resident Evil game beyond its title, but it's every bit as suspenseful as the series has been. On the topic of horror, the game's graphical fidelity allows for some truly disgusting and violent imagery. Blood, brains, and guts end up all over the place while you watch from a first person view. You'll see heads explode, get chopped in half. You'll see axes and blades sliced into torsos. You'll see hands and legs dismembered. It's real horror with that important hallmark of intense violence. But the game ceases to be scary and surprising over time—what you'd expect from 12+ hours of the same kind of scares and violence. Instead, Resident Evil 7 focuses on survival and a pervasive sense of tension that comes from an un-killable enemy prowling the area or having to use every last bit of your very limited resource to fight off a few hallways of monstrous creatures. All in all, Resident Evil 7's scare tactics might wear thin, but it never lets you down when it comes to suspenseful gameplay. A fun, stressful masterpiece.

This has yet again redefined the franchise and my god what a ride it was. I started and beat it in VR and it is proof VR is going nowhere and RE is going on the right direction. If you can play this game in VR right away. If not It is still an amazing title I would recommend to anyone looking for a refreshing title to survival horror.

This game definitely kept me on my toes, very fun to play but also scary! Over all its a great adrenaline pumping game

This game is awesome. Definitely showed the classic horror feel of their earliest games like RE 1, 2, 3. The game is slower paced with lots of substance. Great plot and I like the first person view as it makes the game creepier. I have played through this game many times already. Definitely worth adding to your collection of games.

The game was great and experiencing it on VR was even better. The story line was a little short and the VR exprience could have been better if more movement was allowed. Otherwise, it was a great game and worth playing.

Great job Capcom on taking RE on a different direction and still maintaining the suspense and tension of a good survival horror. Gone are the annoying call of duty style of action and nonstop quick time events. I welcome back the slower horror aspect! Tried it in VR and it looks amazing, definitely meant to be played in VR.

Resident Evil 7 is mind blowing, from the graphics to the story, everything is beautiful about it. I haven't played a resident evil game in years but when I saw the commercials it was no doubt I was going to buy this one. If u are a fan or were a fan before this is a return to to originality when it comes to this franchise.

I have only completed about a third of the game at this time so please keep that in mind while reading the review and my opinion. The game is not unlike the demo which was only meant as a sample for the gameplay and graphics. I purchased the game for my PS4 Pro since that seems to have been the lead platform but the XBOX ONE S demo played just as good. The controller is smooth as butter for all functions which are very easy to learn and use. The graphics and colors are subdued but that was probably to give the impression that your were having a real bad dream. The shading and lighting are used effectively which adds to the creepiness of the areas to be explored. This is definitely a Resident Evil horror-survival game but with some new variations such as being in the first-person view. You are in a house that is populated by a family that apparently was infected by some virus that made them insane along with having zombie-like and strange physical characteristics which makes them not impossible but very difficult to eliminate. Weapons and ammo are somewhat scarce and sometimes ineffective when used directly against the family which means you have to figure out some other way to bring them down. There are also some slime/sludge monsters running around and those can be eliminated with well-placed shots to the head. There is a traditional item management system in place like the early Resident Evil games so that should be familiar to most users. Problem solving is not overly difficult but it can be unclear sometimes as to what is needed and involves a little too much backtracking for my taste but you will get very familiar with the house and adjacent buildings in the process. That is where I took the one star off from the rating. Overall, the game is very immersive and provides several really good jump-scare scenes that you don't expect. I have to play the game in short sessions to give me chance to calm down, especially after a nerve-wracking segment! If you are looking for a new well-made horror-survival game, then this is definitely worth playing!

Long time fan of the resident evil series and loved every game except the sixth. Fortunately, 7 is the much needed reboot the franchise had to have to keep the series relevant. It's a true return to horror and survival. The game is fun in standard 1st person but to truly get the most out of the experience, play it on VR.

I never expected a game of this caliber. I've played it in VR mode and often times I've taken my headset off in the middle of a scene. I love it! I hope other game makers create games like this. It has set the standard in how all VR games should be made.

the wait is over. capcom has came out with a new resident evil game that went back to its roots. not in third person mode as previous games but first person. no zombies but a weird family that is infected. it gets better if u have psvr. the gear makes it feel like if u are actually there. however, it is too scary to play

If Resident Evil from the '90s came out in 2017, it would be this game. Creepy, great visuals, awesome controls, interesting story, great gameplay, it will leave you on the edge of your seat. I don't have a PSVR but this seems like it would scare the daylights out of me if I could play it in VR. Well worth the price!

Very scary. You will love it. Awesome in VR. 2nd game you should buy for PSVR after Until Dawn: Rush of Blood.
