This is Resident Evil for the next generation. First person camera and amazing graphics make the horror more intense. The villians are an interesting bunch to say the least. Great voice acting except for Ethan Winters. Nice variety of monsters and environments. Very atmospheric too. The merchant is a nice call back to Resident Evil 4. You can even hunt certain animals and permantly improve tour stats by cooking and combing them. I wish games like this were longer. They always seem too short. Mercenaries is unlocked after completing the story and that adds some fun challenges. RE Verse is downloadable but you must have Playstation Plus to play it.

Great game. Having a ton of fun. I've beat the story and now I'm doing several more playthroughs with the bonus unlocks and cleaning up the trophy list. Gives me old Resident Evil 5 feelings, and I love it. This is part of the experience I could not wait for with PS5 and I am glad it has arrived. Can't wait for more.

I enjoyed the game all the way through. It is action packed. Its got a little section that's a bit horror and the story is way more compellimg than 7 was. The replay value in this game is definitely there as i am on my 2nd playthrough as I am typing this. Can't deny it makes the story of RE more confusing though.

Great addition to the Resident Evil franchise! I'm more of a RE purist myself, preferring the gameplay styles of the first 3 titles, as well as the over the shoulder camera view. RE 4 & 7 came along and shook things up in different ways. 4 really emphasized action over exploration & puzzles, while 7 brought in a first person camera view. Resident Evil Village I feel incorporates the best of both of those games.
The pacing is fantastic, never letting you get bored or expecting what is coming next. The puzzle and exploration elements of the first 3 RE games can be found in this one, especially in the 1st half. With that said, the first half is superior to the second half. I really think this series is at its best when puzzle solving and trying to figure out where to go next. While the action elements are fine... you can find that type of gameplay in countless other games. I don't think RE does anything to push the envelope on action.
But overall, great game, perfect running length at about 12 hours, great level of difficulty. Highly recommend!

An excellent well paced entry in the Resident Evil series. It plays like a greatest hits compilation of the franchise. The first person perspective of 7, the set pieces of 5 and pretty much everything else from 4, but it all comes together in a fun and satisfying game that has pretty good replay value.

Simply put, everything couldn’t have gone better. After having just graduated from college, I went to my local Best Buy and the guy at the pickup desk was super kind. It was a quick, show ID, here’s the game, have a nice night and try not to get rained on. I wasn’t able to play the game itself until the next day, and the wait was worth it because this may be the best PlayStation 5 video game right now and potentially this year. You love great video game design? It’s got it. You love intricate lore and calling back to older stories? It’s here in the right doses. You want fun gameplay? Absolutely here. How about being a terrifying experience? It’s got you there (I won’t post spoilers, but if you know, you know). I also loved the pre-order bonuses, particularly the steelbook case. Whatever deal Best Buy made with every game developer, they’ve truly struck gold because as someone who likes to collect cool things like steelbooks, this one didn’t disappoint. Overall, it’s amazing.

I've I my gotten about 45 minutes into the game, but so far I enjoy the changes to the story line direction. I'm excited to keep going. He graphics are phenomenal, and the added response from the controer is a cool effect. Overall, if you're a fan of the franchise, you'll enjoy the game!

I am roughly 5 hours in, and loving this game! It reminds me of a combination of 1, 4, and 7. Nice to see a merchant, and save rooms. Looking forward to completing this one, and will surely play a second or third round. Highly recommend for all Resident Evil fans new and old.

This game is amazing. If you liked resident evil or have played resident evil 7 then you will love this game. Visuals and story are top notch. The boss battles are awesome and the addition of the merchant adds to the atmosphere of wonders in this game.

A couple of notes-- I am about 90% through the game and have almost 20 hours playing time. This is the first Resident Evil game I have played since xbox 360 so I am not a seasoned veteran of the series, however I love survival horror and games like Evil Within. Resident Evil Village is a great game and I have been playing it non-stop since getting it. It has kept my interest mainly due to the creepy town and several mini-boss/boss encounters that keep you on your toes. There were definitely some parts that creeped me out and were pretty intense. I would recommend this game to all PS5 owners that like the survival horror genre. It shows off the power of the PS5 as well with great graphics and unbelievable fast load times. It takes about ~30-45 seconds for me to power up the PS5 and start RE8 from where I left off.

I've been a huge fan of Resident Evil games since the 4th game. The 5th was nowhere near as good but still great. Then obviously the 6th game was a mess. The 7th really brought back the series survival horror roots. Then playing the remakes of the 2nd and 3rd games was great, getting me excited for Village.
Without giving too much away, Village is a sequel to RE7 but without being too similar. The game feels like a combination of RE4 and RE7 but also has its own identity at times. There's enough survival horror and action in this game to please any Resident Evil fan. My only complaint would be some parts of the game feel too short compared to others. Graphics are very good, I wouldn't say they'll blow you compared to last gen graphics but they still look great.

One of the best action horrors in a long time. I feel like it’s more action in this one than in 7, but is way better paced and a story that makes Ethan Winters an actual character. I am currently trying to platinum myself

Great continuation to Resident Evil Biohazard. Good balance of horror, action, and puzzle solving. Great boss battles. I feel like it borrowed a bit from P.T. This is a good thing since we will never see that game come to fruition anyway. That second house area will leave you jarred. I wish there was more puzzles and more time spent in the village. Was a bit short but honestly no matter how long they made it I would be wanting more. Looking forward to the DLC.

Not as scary as RE7 but still very entertaining. Once you level up your weapons it’s crazy how you go from being scared at enemy encounters to taking them head on. Beautiful graphics and decent story.

I've only ever played 7, but this was a lot of fun. Aside from one section of the game, it wasn't nearly as scary. I love the setting and found the story to be really interesting. I'm already excited for the next game.

While it is definitely a drastic change from the old zombies formula that started the series in the first place and plays alot like Resident Evil 7 but has a RE4 feel mixed in...they still managed to make RE Village feel fresh and similar at the same time. And oh man, the graphics are amazing, definitely the best looking Resident Evil to date.
As someone who has completed the game and in hindsight of that...and without giving away spoilers,
I would recommend Village to someone who doesnt mind big changes to the Resident Evil story, It almost entirely stands on its own and loosely ties in with other RE titles, with that said..this new fresh experience is worth experiencing for yourself with an open mind.
