A bit less than the sum of what it borrows from.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Village takes a bit from each of the Resident Evil games before it. *A bit of Re4's loot scavenging and weapon upgrades *A bit of the first's mansion exploring and emblem puzzles. *Re7's first person perspective *A tall stalking invincible nemesis, albeit more talkative than previous incarnations. *An entire section dedicated to creepy atmospheric audio cues with a dash of an escape room that is some of the best horror the game has presented in years. However, it may have benefitted from putting more focus on any one of those things, and fleshing out the story a little more. There's not as many weapons to upgrade, or cool weapons to unlock like in RE4. The Mercenaries minigame is relegated to being a murder-puzzle rather than score based, and is virtually impossible for the average player to fully unlock or obtain the "LZ Answerer", which Capcom kindly suggested I pay 5 bucks to unlock this prestigious weapon without playing that segment via a microtransaction. My grievance with Capcom trying to extort another 5 bucks out of players aside, it just feels a bit too short and maybe needed a little more story development. I can't say I regret the purchase, it just just needed more attention to each of it's parts and maybe another chapter or two.

A Must-Play Game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An incredible continuation of Ethan's story following RE7. The visuals were amazing and gameplay felt more fluid with great gunplay mechanics. Highly recommended for any fans of the horror genre and will definitely be giving this several playthroughs.

Resident Evil series on the right path
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great sequel to Resident Evil 7. Similar vibe, combat is great and the pacing is well-done. Few puzzles, more on the action side, but not overly done. The atmosphere is great, but the storyline can use some work.

Resident Evil - village
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really fun game I bought for my daughter to play. She loves being scarred by all the unexpected zombies that come at you when you least expect it. The graphics on PS5 make it look amazing compared to ps4 & the load time is butter baby!!

Tons of Fun!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this game. If you're looking for game that's somewhat open world without a map that's overwhelmingly large, this is for you. The game play is fun and scary, and there is plenty of exploring, looting and shooting to be done.

Great on PS5
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A truly next gen experience and amazing with the new ps5 controller and headset. Fully immersive and no loading screens on ps5. The detail put into game is amazing and can't be stressed enough. It has great re4 vibes and re7. Not quite as scary as re7 but that's a good thing. This game is a masterpiece I will be replaying over and over. The deluxe has extras but the only thing useful is the Albert gun. Everything else seems to be cosmetics which is still cool.

Great Resident Evil Game
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent game! It is an excellent horror first-person shooter. It is a little difficult to get used to but the graphics are good, the pacing of the game is good and there is a good replayability with the harder difficulties.

Great followup, worthy of RE name
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is an amalgam of RE7 with RE4 and turns out to be a great game! It's not as scary as 7 but you'll still have a lot of fun with it. The story, the graphics, the sound, everything is pretty good. You won't regret playing it.

Excellent evolution on RE7 formula
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent evolution of the RE7 formula... much more variety of enemies. If you're favorite part of RE7 was horror, be warned that this game does maintain that in many instances, but definitely has a stronger focus on action elements.

One of the best in the series
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Capcom done did it again! This is one of the more memorable Resident Evil experiences with the 2nd and 4th installments being the other two I consider the best in the series.

One of the best RE games
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best Resident Evil games to date. It's got elements of all the previous games so veterans will love it and it's also accessible to new players. Short, but meant to be replayed to unlock stuff. Definitely a must-buy.

Different than other RE w puzzles and thrill
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing graphics. Edge of your seat fun! Great for puzzle enthusiasts. I would not compare it to previous RE renditions. It is definitely a different tone in terms of humor / story line. Its a tall tale meets RE take on it.

Capcom really knows how to make survival horror action games! It’s a great addition to the series. Capcom is by far the best Japanese game studio! Next gen PS5 graphics are in full force here!!

The Village Awaits
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who only played Resident Evil 1 and 7 before this game, I have to say that I have enjoyed my time with Village. The graphics on PS5 are good and the framerate drops are few and far between. The gameplay still needs a bit of work but the story continues to get more interesting. There have been some legitimately scary parts while others are more blood-pumping. Overall, RE8 is a great mix between action and horror!

Goofy action game
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful graphics, particularly the interiors, and great sound design can't save this game from being a huge letdown. Aside from one short moment in the game, there are very few scares. It's mostly just action, which would be fine if the combat were really fun. It's not. I think it's lacking in feedback when you shoot something. It just doesn't feel very satisfying and there's not much to it. On top of that, the story is absolutely ludicrous. This is probably the silliest and campiest Resident Evil yet. Some of it is pure cheese, and unintentionally hilarious. I found it hard to take this game seriously at all. The way they introduced Chris Redfield was also terrible. The way he acted was completely out of character. And don't even get me started about the puzzles. These have to be the worst in the series. They're so easy I actually felt insulted, like the developers had zero respect for my intelligence. There's nothing clever about any of them. Lastly, there are performance issues on PS5. Frame dips everywhere, especially later in the game. I expected better. Overall, a tremendous step back from RE7 and not one I can recommend.
