BAD REVIEWS ARE TRUE
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sadly I didn’t believe about bad reviews about this dash cam saying that it fails after a short time using it. I got my cam back in June and because it was for my wife car I didn’t know that camera was stuck in the rexing logo screen for about a month. So was is the point to expend about $300 dollars to have a nice set up and thinking that you are protected agains reckless drivers if camera is not working and recording. Rexing will pay us back in case that an accident and fail to get the evidence that we need? I requested a full refund to rexing, will update when they respond to my request, now just hoping that they backed up their product and take responsibility of the failure.

Core Features Work, But Some Issues with GPS
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Road shenanigans are an everyday part of life. Many times I’ve seen things from within my car thinking, “Dang I wish I caught that on camera!”. The Rexing V5 Plus is an option for us who are shopping around for a reliable dash cam that does its core feature of keeping watch, but with additional niceties to help it stand out. Installing the V5 Plus will vary from vehicle to vehicle as well as from person to person; if you’re pretty handy, it’s really not a bad install. I installed it in my SUV and it took about an hour from start to finish. The power cable and rear camera cable were more than sufficient in length for the install and I had to get creative in hiding the excess wire, and I think it’s plenty to satisfy even the longest vehicles, like a Chevy Suburban. I installed the main unit right centered under my rear view mirror where I can see and reach for the buttons when I need to make changes. I installed the rear camera right on the rear window within the cabin. The cabin camera simply attaches to the right side of the main unit via mini-USB and can be detached anytime. Using the V5 Plus is very straightforward. First thing you’ll need is a MicroSD card (a 32gb card is included), which will need to be formatted while in the unit. I opted for a 256gb, which is probably overkill, but what’s great is that it can accept cards up to that size, and it works just fine. Navigating the menu system is fairly simple as well. There are four main viewing modes (1) Front@4K, (2) Front@4K Rear@1080p, (3) Front@4K Cabin@1080p, and (4) Front-Cabin-Rear@720-1080p. I roll with (2) as it makes the most sense for my daily commute. The other setting that was worth changing was the date/time. I was off to the races at that point. When the car is turned to ignition, the unit automatically recalls your last setting and starts recording. When the car is powered off, the unit powers off as well. Video quality varies from camera to camera. The Front-facing camera takes the win for 4K-30Hz. The rear camera comes in at 2nd at 1080p and I can still make out license plates when cars approach behind me. The in-cabin camera is last; it also provides 1080p recordings, but boy, does it have a purple hue. Overall, the cameras do their best to adjust to lighting conditions, and sometimes the corrections can become overly aggressive. Now for the geeky stuff. The unit performs loop recordings, meaning that once your MicroSD card becomes full, it will begin overwriting your oldest recordings with new recordings. Us software geeks call them circular buffers. Anyway, you’ll never have to worry about running out of space. A loop recording on a 256gb MicroSD card will probably yield several, several days of recordings, so the included 32gb might be more than enough for a few days at a time. Playing back the recordings required me to purchase the HEIC plugin for my Windows Player. The videos are folder organized by camera and are broken down into 1 minute files to help you easily isolate an incident that was captured on camera. A very strong point for the unit is voice control. I was extremely surprised to see how well it responded to every phrase. I only wished Siri or Google Assistant were this good. Yeah, it’s THAT good. You can switch camera views on the LCD, turn on/off WiFi and take a photo, for example. Speaking of WiFi, you can connect to the V5 Plus using the RexingConnect app on your phone or tablet. You can control recording settings as well as browse through your recordings on your phone. Connecting to the unit requires that you connect to its WiFi signal. The SSID and password is displayed on the LCD. WiFi may seem gimmicky, but I do see one important use case. I see myself connecting to WiFi when I need to get a video out immediately to provide proof to my insurance company or to assist our law enforcement community. Plain and simple. The only aspect of the V5 Plus that I struggled with is the GPS. For some reason, I cannot get Lat/Lon and MPH to update in real-time on the LCD, and my recordings only show a fixed Lat/Lon location as well as 00 MPH. I don’t know if it has to do with where I live (I don’t think it does?), especially when the car’s built-in GPS works as well as our cell phones and smart watches equipped with GPS. Geolocation and speed can go a long way in proving something one way or another. I’ll keep driving daily to see if anything changes, and ultimately may have to give Rexing a call if things don’t improve here. Not a showstopper, but definitely a bummer. All things considered, these dash cams are a set-it-and-forget-it device. They are our watchful eyes when we are behind the wheel and come through for us when we need them most.

Keep Looking!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first dash cam I have owned. So being a first timer, I was not sure what all I was looking for. After watching some reviews and doing some window shopping, I stumbled upon this unit. It was on sale and was a great price........that should of been a red flag. First mistake. I picked this up with the additional hardwire kit. The second mistake was thinking I could hardwire this myself. Mounting the cameras and running their wires was simple. I then ran the wires to the battery for the hardwire kit only to find that my car uses micro fuses. Something this unit did not come with and even had I known this is what my car used, I still would not of been able to figure out how to connect it. Another thing this unit did not come with was an instruction guide that was understandable. Of course there was very little to nothing on YouTube to help with this so I attempted to install it myself, multiple times. Third mistake. By the time I was ready to throw the towel in, I made an appointment with Best Buy to have it installed. This was the only good thing about this whole ordeal. The kid I met was very friendly and since I had already ran all the wires, all he did was connect the hardwire kit for me. He didn't even charge me because it took him 15 minutes to do it. The fourth mistake was waiting so long to do this. I was so looking forward to this thing working, only to be yet again disappointed by it. The motion sensor that came with the hardwire kit doesn't even turn on, yet there is power passing through it via the camera. It randomly powers on and off and thanks to the instructional book that may have well been written by an alien, I don't even know how to operate this thing. The back up camera hardly ever works and when it does, the picture quality is awful. Last mistake. Due to the amount of time that has passed, I can now not return this worthless thing and it will probably end up in the trash. I wouldn't even feel right selling it to somebody. Best Buy........stop selling this garbage and thanks for taking $215 from me!

The 3rd time's a charm
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went through 2 dash cams after the 1st one was stuck on the Rexing boot screen after changing a video settings. The 2nd one kept rebooting after updating the firmware. The 3rd one seems to work fine just out of the box.

Great Video Quality and Voice Command
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Anything can happen out on the roads these days. ANYTHING. And there is a comfort knowing that if ‘anything’ happens, you have that moment recorded. Not only for your protection but the protection of others as well. My previous Rexing V3 Pro dash-cam served me well. It recorded an accident that happened at least fifty feet ahead of me at an intersection. I told the Highway Patrol that my camera recorded the accident and I sent the officer the footage. It turned out that the person who was actually at fault had been lying about how the accident happened but when my footage was submitted, the driver at fault changed their story to the truth. Another time, my front dash-cam was able to record the faces of some juveniles that were attempting to set fire to a large bush with a live animal in it. And while the camera served me well from the front, I had nothing recording from the back end of my vehicle. I’ve had impatient or aggressive drivers ride my bumper. If there were an accident, it’s my word against theirs about the actual events. I decided that I needed to upgrade to the Rexing V5 Plus Camera because it has a rear camera along with an interior cabin camera. And what made this camera more appealing was the voice command features. Unpacking and Setup: Setting up the camera(s) didn’t take more than 30 minutes. I was immediately impressed by the lens on the front camera. It looks like a professional digital hand camera with its large, circular lens. It’s relatively easy to set up the V5 Plus right out of the box. It comes with all of the items/tools you will need for the initial setup. A power cord that plugs into the 12-volt port in your car, the rear camera, and the connecting wire to run it from the front camera, and the rear-facing cabin camera that is attached to the side of the front camera. The of the items in the box is a tool that allows you to tuck the wires into the edging of the car interior, an SD memory card, and the 3M adhesive that you’ll need to mount the front camera. And, if you’re not interested in the interior cabin camera recording, you can simply unplug it from the side of the front camera. It’s not required to have running. Performance: Once you have the camera settings to your liking, you are ready to hit the road with your new digital eyes watching your front and back. I initially thought that the voice commands were going to have me repeat them several times for them to work but the camera understood each command that is provided on a small card included in the box. Do you want to see what the display screen is showing? Just say, “Turn on-screen”, and the screen lights up. You just witnessed something on the road that needs to be saved immediately? Say, “Lock video” or “Take a picture” and the video footage/picture is set aside so it cannot be deleted. Other commands allow you to switch between cameras, and you can command the camera not to record audio. Keep in mind, when you turn off your vehicle, the recent commands revert to the initial settings you had in place. Video Quality: The 4K image quality on the front camera is AMAZING and records all the detail you’d expect and it records it at a wide-angle so that almost nothing is missed. The rear camera records at 1080p, allowing you to get the details of whatever might happen behind you. The rear camera can be helpful if an accident happened behind you or someone rear-ends you and attempts to take off but now you have their face and license plate. It’s going to be difficult for anything to escape the range of this camera. Accessibility: When it comes to accessing the recorded videos, you can either remove the camera from its holder and plug it into your computer to access the recorded files or you can download the Rexing app and access the footage directly from the camera itself. The issue with the app is that it’s not exactly user-friendly in terms of navigating as to how to watched saved videos. When you do get the hang of it, the ease of access is nice without needing to wait to get home to plug the camera into the computer. If you do use the app, keep in mind, downloading the video(s) from the Rexing camera to your phone can take several minutes. Durability: The Rexing V5 Plus is a solid build of a dashcam. I’d have to say it’s the most impressive dash camera I have seen to date. If you were to be in an accident, this camera looks like it would easily protect the memory card inside of it. The camera also is made to endure high heat up to 176 F and as low as 20 F. I know from my previous Rexing camera with the same temperature feature that it does endure high California heat. It doesn’t get cold in my area so I have no input when it comes to cold endurance. I do have to note that if you leave the display screen in the always-on option, the screen gets extremely warm. I suggest that you go into the settings and have the screen turn off after a minute. This and That: With my previous Rexing camera, the camera would continue to record for ten minutes after the car was turned off. The V5 Plus does not record after the vehicle is complete turned off. There is a Parking Monitor feature for the Rexing camera but a separate, Rexing Smart Hardwire Kit is required for this feature to be enabled. My other issue with this Rexing V5 Plus is that the timestamp resets itself after a couple of hours. No matter how many times I went into the settings and adjusted the date and time, the timestamp would reset back to midnight and the date would show tomorrow. Maybe this will be addressed in an update? Wrap Up: I believe that dash cameras protect not only the driver but others around the driver as well. Whether you are a shared ride driver, a parent of an inexperienced driver, or just someone that feels the need to feel safer knowing that there’s video evidence in case something bad happens when out on the road, you will want to explore the Rexing V5 Plus camera.

Good and Reliable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rexing V5 is a useful system for addressing dash cam needs. It's not the best, but far from being bad. Below are the highlights: The Good - Great Dash Cam Quality: The 4K quality is nice is most situations and even acceptable in low light situations. -Voice Assistant: The inclusion of a A.I. performed commands makes it very convenient for needing to get things done without constantly interacting with the app or system. - Simple install: Installation was easy. - Operation: The controls for the camera system itself was not difficult to adjust to, and I was able to toggle through options with issue. The Bad: - Not wireless option: Having wires and cables running throughout my vehicle is undesirable, but safety and security is more important - Bad App: The app is not intuitive and it's needs to be overhauled. The device works, but is held back by a poor user experience The Rexing V5 could benefit from some improvements and additional design changes, but it's a start if you need a camera system.

Features of illusion
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Speed never works but shows plenty of GPS, app/wifi is sporadic in being able to access videos/pics, and was purchased for every feature that does not function satisfactorily. Returned 1st one, and 2nd one minimal improvement to now be unreturnable. $120 would better suit this item as is IMHO

NOT 4K if record on all channels
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After some testing, found out that if you want 4K, you can only record on two channels (Front 4k & Inside 1080 or Front 4k & Rear 1080), you can only get 1080 if record on all 3 channels, and this is not mentioned in product description. In other words, if you want 4K, one of the camera is useless.

If you're into restarts...
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried, I really did. Bought this during Xmas last year along with BB installation for the wife's chariot. Set the appt. and everything on that end went great. Guys were terrific, process was explained and everything was delivered as it should be. On to the camera. As others have mentioned, it restarts. And restarts. And. Restarts. I didn't know how bad it was because, like previously mentioned, this was the wife's ride. She kept telling me about it so I finally started looking into it. Oof. So, sent an email to support (which also opens a ticket). Tried their suggestions, including formatting the card, resetting the device, trying another power supply, and updating the firmware. Fast forward several months, and trying the same steps over and over, and 3 more tickets later...and they say, OK, we'll send you another unit. Terrific. That part, while a little late, went smoothly. I only needed to return the camera which was very convenient. Plugged in the new camera and...it restarts. And re...you know the rest. So, I tried new things. I bought a new memory card. I removed it from my wife's car and put it in mine. Same result. Other random notes: besides the restarts there were many times it would freeze at the splash screen. Just freeze. Also, quite a few times I would turn off that darn annoying startup noise only for it to return after one of its numerous restarts. I ended up buying another camera (different brand), using the same power source initially installed (as well of the backup camera from this device that was also initially installed) and it works great. Go figure. Positives (I guess): CS was fairly responsive. The app, for me at least, worked fine for the most part. That's about all I got.

Absolutely worthless.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worthless Junk. I have had nothing but trouble with it since day one. Part of that was BB installation, but the device is worthless. First of all, I paid to have the motion sensor, but was told at installation that you can have motion sensor or rear camera, but not both. It records in very tiny segments, and when I tell it to 'lock video', the event I want saved is not included. It is just a 20 second clip afterward. The cheap Chinese knockoff I had before this one worked much better. The instructions and menu aren't good.
