Worst dash cam ever

Wont go with open box again

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a open box that was rated excellent condition but when i opened it it was all gross and sticky like ok I understand open boxes are usually returns or floor displays but i also know there supposed to inspect them before putting it back on shelf like if your going to put it as excellent status couldve atleast toook the 2 seconds to wipe it down and clean it

Solid Video Quality w/ Lots of Extensibility
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Rexing V5C Plus is a solid dash cam that provides decent video quality, and gives a wide array of installation options that'll fit nearly every scenario. Additionally, the camera has a number of extra features that elevates it over some cheaper and more basic units. Mounting the camera was straight forward with the given components in the box; mounting plates, doubled sided sticky pads, cable routing mounts, etc. Since the cabin facing camera and MicroSD card were already installed, there was nothing more to the process. This thing is the definition of plug and play. In my experience, using the provided power cable gives the best results for ensuring you have enough juice to power this thing, but if your USB port can supply at least 2.5 amps (many cannot), you could streamline the setup by using a USB cord instead. Video quality on this unit was surprisingly decent. It's not iPhone or Pixel quality video, but it is better than some cheaper units I've used in the past, owing some of this to the available "WDR"/wide dynamic range setting. Zooming in to see things like license plates is actually usable, and overall quality is more than adequate for what you should expect a dash cam to provide. Beyond video quality, the camera has a plethora of additional features that make the V5C very user friendly. As expected, it has onboard GPS, so you'll get real time speed recording and also lets you chart your routes against Google Maps, but it has extras like wifi capability and voice control. I found the Rexing app to be more than sufficient for transferring videos to my phone using the mentioned wifi feature, which is a very nice quality of life feature that saves the hassle of pulling the MicroSD card out and having to go to a computer to retrieve footage. And the voice control is nice, albeit not something I'll use often. Being able to tell the camera to turn the display off (the most useful of the voice commands for me) was actually a nice hands-free experience which allowed me to keep my hands on the wheel and my eyes on the road. Other features I found useful are lane depart and forward collision warnings which use the camera to detect whether you're drifting over the lines or about to hit an object. The warnings are fairly useful, and while I don't leave these on all the time, I do turn them on when I'm driving tired. Finally, there's a G sensor function which triggers when a collision or impact has occurred and automatically records a 20 second locked video. Very useful in the event of a crash that you need to document. Also of note, the Rexing has a number of add-on features that can extend usability even more, including things like a back up camera, and a hardwire kit that'll convert this to a parking monitor as well as a dash cam. This would be extremely useful, given that the V5C has collision detection which will automatically trigger a locked video recording, giving you some context around what might have happened. This isn't included in the package, but having the extensibility is ALWAYS a welcomed additional feature. Overall, the Rexing V5C Plus is a very solid dash cam, existing in a market of many, many budget no-name options. The V5C sets itself apart from others with some very useful features, including the wifi enabled app video transfer and the modularity/extensibility. This is great option for anyone in the market for one of these cameras.

Waste of Money

The set up was super easy, but i hsve had nithing but problems with this camera. It does not have half the features that it says it does. It does not have an internal battery. It does not have a parking monitor. If you want the parking monitor you have to buy a separate kit. It does not connect to your phine automatically. When using the sd in my computer it did not read it at all. Please do not waste your money on this camera

This is truly garbage

Can't adjust screen so it's angled up on your windshield. Constantly doesn't 5 minutes trying to get it to connect with my phone when I would get ready to drive, aux battery must not work time was right when U started and some how changed. Why would you sell this Best Buy??

Decent for the price range

Waste money

Stopped working

It powers on but stays on just the opening screen. Tried to press the hard reset button but nothing. Don’t waste money and buy the Garmin brand next time.

COULD BE A GOOD CAM

When I realize that I have been driving for 15 minutes and the camera is not recording is not a good thing. Then, I have trouble getting it to start recording. This is the 2nd dash cam I have had with similar problems. The first was a Cobra. I really wish all these cams would put a dedicated "Red" record button that is easy to access when driving. You can't stop in the middle of the road and figure out which buttons to push to get the camera recording. If it ain't recording, it ain't worth $*#$&.

Defective

My Vehicle Camera

It did not capture anything when my car was broken into or during an accident. Despite having a 24x7 wire kit plugged into the socket, it still did not record anything. UI is terrible takes forever to connect with phone. Videos wont load

Posted .HI! Thank you for your review and I am very sorry to hear about your incident. The device is not recording while the car is off if the device is plugged into the cigarette socket. If you have any of the hardwire kits, you would need the Intelligent to allow for motion detecting which would have picked up someone breaking into your car. If you are using the SMART hardwire kit, that may not have been a strong enough vibration to turn the camera on.

They all had problems. This particular one here V5C Plus, woild be stuck rebooting right out of the box. You will regret buying Rexing cameras.

Absolute Waste of Money

Also, this camera does NOT have a battery. It shuts off immediately when power is lost. Even sub $30 dash cams from unknown Chinese brands have an internal battery so the recording is not interrupted in case of power loss.
