Customers consistently note the excellent video quality and ease of use of the V5C 3” 4K Dual Dash Cam. Many appreciate the included GPS and straightforward installation process, while some find the accompanying app needs improvement and the lack of an internal battery to be drawbacks. There are many things I enjoy about this dash cam! The image quality is great which is really the most important part. The front camera can record up to 4k and the interior cabin camera can record in 1080p. Perfect for needing to read license plates numbers or seeing small details. The interior camera has IR night vision; perfect for someone who does ride sharing and needs that extra layer of protection. Included with the camera comes a 64GB micro SD card which is nice, but I personally upgraded to a 256GB card for extra storage which I found very helpful seeing as the camera is recording from the second it turns on. More space to save recordings! The dash cam can be used with voice commands which is super convenient while driving. It is responsive and accurate. The user interface is pretty nice in terms of learning how to navigate it. Simple and straight forward. There is an app that you can download for your phone where you can save recordings and even switch some settings around. There is an option to hardwire the camera into your car which lets it continuously record even while the car is turned off, and I plan to do so. You just have to buy the (not included) kit and install it. Overall I would say this is a great dash cam with nice features!

Rexing is, in my opinion, the best option for a dashcam no matter what model you're looking at. This is my second one, the first being a much more basic model and a few years old now. I just got a newer car and was happy to see this model available. Image quality is the highlight of this dashcam in my opinion. 4K clips make it super easy to pinpoint when and where any damage occurred. It comes with a 64gb SD card but you can buy one yourself that will have more storage to it. I bought a 128GB card to have ample room. It splits the video into 60 second clips in case you need to go back and save anything. It will delete the oldest recording to make room for new recordings on its own so you don't have to go in and clear anything manually. Setting up was easy. It comes with 2 adhesive squares for mounting. I set mine up by pushing the power cable into the trim. The hard wire kit doesn't come in the box which i wish it did to be able to utilize the record feature while the car is off. There is an app which i recommend downloading so you can easily view and download any footage you wanted to save. With people driving so crazily nowadays I always have my dashcam on. It's an added layer of safety/peace of mind in case anything were to happen.

Off the bat, the packaging was of high quality and not excessive providing protection from manufacture to my hands. Once out of the box the unit is light weight almost to the point of feeling flimsy but after further inspection the unit is solid. Ultimately I think this is good as this will put less stress on the adhesive mount and should make that last longer. The interior camera looks detachable but is not and I was initially worried that it would not permit any adjustment however both the interior and exterior lenses can swivel somewhat to adjust for the mounting position you choose. As with any permanent sort of mount I am a little hesitant as you need to choose wisely the placement. When mounting you mount a bracket to which the unit securely snaps into place. This gives you the option to remove it when needed for security purposes. It also comes with a spare adhesive patch and bracket which you can use for sharing the unit with another vehicle or to try again if your first attempt is not acceptable. All in all I was worried for nothing as the adjustable lenses more than made up for where I ended up affixing it to my car. The menu and buttons are straight forward to use but a touch screen would be greatly appreciated, though once in operation there are few times that I will need to touch it during operation. This is especially true with the voice command feature. Some of the accepted commands are: -Turn On Screen -Turn Off Screen -Lock the Video -Take Photo -Show Front Camera -Show Both Camera In my opinion this makes up for the lack of a touch screen. I have been enjoying the security of having this device in my vehicle and am very happy with the overall performance. Picture quality is great even at night and the cabin camera has IR illumination that gives a very clear view of the interior. Drive safely!

    Huge Improvement

I have a previous version of this camera. This is a huge improvement. Video quality is outstanding, just make sure you clean your windows before installing. I thought I had a print or a scratch on the lens, ended up being a smudge on the window. The inclusion of the cabin cam is an excellent add. The two channel recording makes it easy to see what happened and when. Luckily I have never needed any video from the camera, but I have had the opportunity to get out of a ticket for not stopping at a stop sign. I pulled up the video and showed the policeman that I did come to a completed stop with a 10 count while stopped. I have also saved a few videos if they were ever needed for someone recklessly driving on the highway. At some point I may make a compilation of all the near misses I have recorded. The app and configuration is quite intuitive to me. Rexing has done a great job of improving on what was already a solid app and device and made it even better. One of the great things I have been able to do that excites my son is rail fanning (getting recordings of railroad crossings and trains that cross). I have a great knack of getting to the crossing when the bar is coming down. To sum up, the video, especially at 4K, is stunning. The dual channel is a great add to my previous model. The GPS can be used for more than just tracking the car/video. It can save money when running into over zealous police with a new ticket book. It is great knowing that if something does happen, you can record and save the incident. We never want it to happen, but it is hard to dispute something on video.

Records a good quality picture. Setup is easy. The menu on the camera is easy to move around and change settings. For example, I turned on the selection to use daylight savings time. I installed this in time for my trip to southern California. Fortunately I didn't need to keep any of the pictures! the unit is designed (based on where the power cord plugs in) to be installed on the passenger side of the rear view mirror so it doesn't block the view of the driver. The power cable plugs into the cigarette lighter. The power cable is long enough that it is supposed to wrap around the windshield (think half square) and then under the glove box to get to the cigarette lighter. I had the cord go straight down from the windshield to the lighter. Looks a bit funny with a cord dangling but it works. The camera is automatically on when you plug it in. It would have been helpful to e camera on and review the menu and make any changes before putting in the car. You can add on a rear view camera and a parking monitor. The latter requires a Smart Hardwire Kit that connects to the car battery.

Dash cams have been underwhelming for years. All the better brands are adequate, but nothing really jumps out as groundbreaking. That is the case with the Rexing - V5C 3” 4K , adequate but nothing special. This is standard dash cam with decent features that you would expect in this price range. What I like: Voice Control – surprisingly good. Fast and responsive. Recognized commands every time. Easier to use than fiddling with buttons. Modular Capabilities – Supports up to 3 channels. Easily add rear camera, plug and play. Dual Band Wi-Fi/App - Transfer videos over 2.4Ghz and 5.0 Ghz high speed Wi-Fi to a smart devices using the app. Videos transferred almost immediately. For some reason, I was unable to set up an account but I did not need that to transfer the videos. Capacitor - Power is delivered by a capacitor, instead of a lithium-ion battery. Overheating has always been a problem during the summer, capacitors provide superior temperature resistance. Field of vision – 170 degrees field of vision captures the full picture in the front camera. Power accessory – Extra long car adapter to quickly install the cam. What I do not like: Screen – On the cheap side. No major issues but sharpness is middling. No touch screen. Gets very hot after about an hour of use Controls – Since there is no touch screen, there are several buttons on the bottom. I find the placement and size awkward. You do not have to do a lot of adjustments after the initial set up but I found it difficult when I did have to use the buttons. Video quality – Great, if it was 5 years old. This is the problem with so many dash cams. Too many use the same outdated image sensor (Sony IMX335.) It does not matter whether it is a $40 dash cam or a Rexing $300, they are using the same image sensor. Search “Sony IMX335 dash cams” and see what comes up – it is amazing. Manufactures can make all the changes to software, the lens etc – not much of a difference when you are using the same image sensor. Cabin camera – For me, totally useless - I would have much rather had a rear camera. Unless you are Uber driver, I do not see the point. Even worse, you cannot easily turn it to record a police officer if you pulled over. The auto infrared lights up too much of your face, you may have to adjust it downward. As I stated at the beginning of this review, the Rexing V5C is adequate. While it has a lot of features, I unimpressed by the image quality. It is no better than a Rexing I had years ago and not as good as a top of line competitor I have (which is nearly twice the price.) Rexing should concentrate on using better image sensors and making the controls more user friendly. The big positive is the price, you do get a lot for money and the warranty is better than most at 18 months. I cannot really recommend it because I think there is better. However, if you are on the budget and want a decent warranty, this may be a good choice.

The Rexing V5C offers lots of features in a small chassis. There is the front facing camera, a “back seat” camera on the rear, and a mounting arm on the top. In addition, a rear facing camera (sold separately) can be attached for seeing the road behind you. Recording on the front cam is done in 4K and 1080p on the rear, thus providing excellent reproduction of whatever scenes it views. The 1700 wide angle lens captures a side-to-side broad view of the road and/or other surroundings. Recording is saved on an included memory card, which is easy to locate and remove as needed. The inside camera allows for manual alignment to maximize back seat viewing angles. Camera settings and controls are clearly marked, making set up and later adjustments quite easy. That said, I strongly suggest performing those functions when the car is sitting still. Otherwise, you are essentially “texting while driving.” No worries, Rexing has made many of those functions available via voice control. In addition, to voice control, the V5C has built-in GPS to assist with location and speed information. Add the Rexing app to the mix, and you have several sources of assistance so you can better focus on the driving. While the car is parked and you are away from it, the V5C still is working for you via the parking monitor which can activate the dash cam to start recording if it senses vibrations or other motions. This feature can be employed 24/7. The installation process is amazingly simple, which is great. However, related to this area is why I deducted one star. The mount is integrated into the overall device. Thus, there is no way to make any adjustments however small you might desire. When the device is adhered to the windshield, it’s stuck in the predetermined angle of view. So, when you are performing the easy installation, be absolutely sure you are positioning the camera exactly where you want it. Because, if you don’t, you are stuck with it as it is. An uninstall is not going to be as easy, no matter what the reason. As well thought out as the V5C’s functionality appears to be, the mount is like the fly in the punchbowl. The fly aside, the V5C is a great camera, and I would recommend it.

Got the item and quickly unboxed. Found a few items - camera, mounting items, power cord, and the micro-SD pc card. Install was OK - you have to adhere the 3M double sided sticker to the mount piece and then onto the window. I chose to mount on the top glass next to my rearview on the passenger side. once I set the mounting block I slide the camera and confirmed fit. Next task was to run the wire. Its a standard Mini to cigarette plug. I deducted 1 star for this. For 2 reasons. Mini USB - really? We are beyond this and secondly I had to run the wire around the windshield, down the side, across the console, then around to the plug in the center console. What a pain. A little research shows you can pick up a ODBD-II power or mini-fuse power. Why not include the ODBD in the box?? Anyway, it powered on and started recording. Ran through the on screen options and proceeded to setup wifi and the app. Found the app and installed - pretty painless. Connected to the camera and was able to download my videos. All pertinent data was displayed on the screen. Video was decent but better if you remove the SD card and download direct. note: rear hatch camera is optional, and overall setup was easy. So far so good. Just would prefer a better option for power such as the odbc in the box.

Rexing V5C Plus Dashcam I have been wanting to get a new dashcam for my wife's car and the Rexing V5C Plus advertises the features that I was looking for in a dashcam. This camera is a 4K front camera unit, with a 1080P cabin camera. In the box is quite a bit of stuff - including two windsheild mounting pucks, a plastic removal tool, the camera, a cigarette lighter power adaptor and power cord. Also included are a 64GB MicroSD card, a MicroSD to standard SD adaptor, and a plethora of manuals. Though tecnically the camera can be installed with the equipment in the box (cigarette lighter adaptor and cable), I chose to additionally purchase the Rexing Hardwire Kit to enable the parking feature and auto/on off features, as well as to make for the cleanest insatllation possible. The front camera performance itself is just OK. The files output are 4K, and at first glance the image quality appears to be good, I found in most situations that stopping the video to get a clear output of license plates was more miss than hit, unless you're traveling very slowly or one of the vehicles is completely stopped. This is a real bummer, as most of the time you're going to need a license plate to take any kind of action should someone run off. One saving grace is that the unit can be set to record sound, so you can read out the license plate if you can observe it with your eyes, and then hear that audio back on the video file. At night time, the area immediately in front of your vehicle is somewhat visible, but otherwise the video is largely black. Also, do not make the mistake I made and leave the protective film on both the front and cabin camera lenses The cabin camera has an extremely wide field of view - from the position I mounted the camera I was very surprised at the amount of the cabin was visible in the cabin camera. Cabin video files are recorded in 1080P. I can see this being an incredibly useful feature if you drive for a ride sharing service where keeping an eye on cabin happenings would be really imporant. Though not included, you can connect a rear camera for three channel recording (Front, Cabin, and Rear). When connecting the third channel, all cameras record at a maximum resolution of 1080P. Video files are broken up into one minute clips, and they are further broken down by camera / event type. It's easy to remove the SD card and bring it in to your computer to view the movie files using the included MicroSD to SD adaptor. One cool feature here is the ability to connect to the camera via Wi-Fi using the Rexing app. I tried this using Apple iOS on an iPhone 14 Pro Max and I had mixed results. To use the app, you first have to download the app from the App store, then you must enable Wi-Fi on the camera which you can do via voice command, or you can use the buttons on the camera to enable Wi-Fi. You then must connect to the Camera's Wi-Fi SSID, give the app permissions to use the local network, and then you can access files and videos on the camera. You can also stream live video to your phone if you find a need for that. The interface is a bit cumbersome, but the functionality is there. I did have some issues with disconnects the first time I used it, but after that it's been fairly usable. Another cool feature is parking mode - if you have the hardwire kit, the camera will detect the force of an impact to the vehicle, turn on and start recording. Fortunately, this has not happened since I've had the camera but it is a cool feature nonetheless. Overall, this is a solid dashcam, but I'd like to see better performance from the front camera - especially in the ability to capture detail like license plates in more circumstances. The Wi-Fi feature was kind of hit or miss when I tried it, and one other minor gripe is that the camera still uses a Mini-USB connector on the camera itself. This seems to be common on dashcams but this is one of, if not the only, circumstances where Mini-USB is still in use today.

The camera itself is great and has god view points, the only issue I have with the camera is that the first month I owned it, it got stuck in the white loading screen and tried resetting . It still wouldn't boot up even after installing the latest firmware. I returned it and got a new one and hope this one actually lasts. I have the best buy warranty as back up just incase this happens again. Will update after a few months to see how it is doing. But at this moment I do not recommend.
