Solid choice
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent high end gaming headset at a middle tier price point. Before owning the RIG - 800 Pro HX wireless headset with base station, I was fairly unfamiliar with the brand itself. I vaguely recall when RIG came on the market approximately ten years ago. However, that and the knowledge of the RIG brand being more intertwined with professional gaming was about everything I knew of this product brand. Upon ordering, I started the research part of my process. I like to know some facts about the brand prior to using their products. I believe this allows me at times to understand the manufactures target audience and be able to better relate or interact with their product. In this case I quickly learned that NACON actually acquired RIG two years ago. Their play was to merge the companies to provide the highest level of gaming peripherals possible. RIG and NACON are very well known in the e-Sports community. The RIG sponsors a ton of e-Sports professional players, teams, and even college teams. After learning all this about the brand producer, I could not wait to try them out. Upon receiving the RIG - 800 Pro HX Dolby Atmos for Xbox or PC, I was instantly impressed with the futuristic design and quality of the feel. The headset offers several on ear function controls that are well placed for the least amount of loss time while accessing. The headphone themselves are adjustable in what I will refer to as a small, medium, and large available positioning slot. I am six foot and two inches at just over two hundred and fifteen pounds and my sweet spot was right in the middle. The headset is light weight and as to be expected with any above entry level headset is able to be worn for hours and hours with little to no adversity. The base unit is solid and has a hide away slot for the USB dongle. The earcups are fabulous and the memory foam like material is again very pleasing while wearing. Overall, I feel confident that these will last for a good bit. I have used these on the new XBOX Series X/S as well as primarily on PC. Even with the lack of an exterior application to control the equalizer the sound quality is superb. The in game sound across a variety of games offers a transcendental experience to the user. The microphone offers great feedback. I am a fan of mics that also allow the user to mute the mic moving in position. I am a bit conflicted and will give the decision to the product developers. I would prefer an application where I am able to control the equalizer. I am though equally thrilled that I do not need to worry about it and can just default to the PC or in game settings. This of course could also be a user error situation because I was unfamiliar with them. A notable superior delivery from the RIG 800 has to be the battery life of these 800 series headphones. I have a double the cost pair of Astro A50s and they offer a wonderful battery life too, at double the price point. I am a bit too obsessive on certain things and could not stand to just leave the unit off the charger base for an extended period of time. The RIG - 800 Pro HX claim to have a twenty-four battery life. Because I could not leave them off the base station overnight, we will again give the conclusion to the developers. RIG is offering a professional level product, at a fantastic price point; this is just something you normally do not see in today's world. I have no real complaints and nothing but good things to say about the RIG - 800 Pro HX. 10 out of 10 would highly recommend for anyone looking to step up their gaming experiences.

Terrible headset

The most comfortable gaming headset I've used
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is a tale of two stories and which tale suits you best will depend on this headset is for you. So out of the box you will find that these are all plastic, before you roll your eyes though you do have a massive benefit because of this. The headset is extremely lightweight weighing in at about 8 ounces which is much lighter than most. This makes wearing the 800 Pro for long periods very easy. It is by far the most comfortable headset I have ever used, even as a glasses wearers I can say I had zero issues with discomfort due to the low weight design. This is a major W for me. The head band is also plastic and while that may seem worrisome for durability it seems to be just fine. Overall the build quality is very very good without having that heft. This unit also comes with a base to dock the headset in after usage to keep them charged. I really like this as I know it's charged everytime anytime. Having to charge a headset while wearing it isn't the best situation and the base station included remedies this. This does use a USB dongle to connect to your Xbox which is no big deal and allows for a solid connection. It uses a 2.4ghz frequency. The ear cups are very soft and very comfortable. The softness is what makes these comfortable for a glasses wearers. I also found they don't make me ears hot. All the controls for the headset are on the left ear cup. This includes a game/party chat dial for Xbox up top, power button, volume controls, dedicated mute button, and the charging port. Volume is very sensitive but once right it's great. The sound on these is enjoyable. You can hear everything and the 3d sound works extremely well. They don't have as much low end as other headsets so if you love low-end you may not like these. They do have bass but it's not like some others you may have used. The bonus to not being heavy on the low end is that you get a crystal clear audio experience where you hear everything. Over all these are great and I highly recommend them. Great for glasses wearers, great for long periods of use and sound really well. Lacks on the low end so could be an issue for some.

You had me at Atmos
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have probably a dozen headsets. A couple I run on my desktop gaming rig and a couple specifically for consoles. I've had a good experience with the RIG headset in the past so when the 800 Pro HX wireless became available I wanted to see if the Dolby Atmos was really that noticable of a difference. I was not disappointed. First of all these are extremely comfortable. While most headsets have a sliding mechanism to adjust for head sizes the RIG goes for a odd snap in positioning system. There are 3 slots on each side of the band that the earpods snap into. It does feel a bit on the cheap side but once in place you really shouldn't have to make adjustments as the top elastic strap has comfortable padding and will snug up the fit on your head. There is absolutely no metal in the band, relying on flexible plastic to take any flexing abuse very nicely. I would think the plastic does help with shaving some weight off the headset so the plastic feel really doesn't bother me. The earcups are very supple with a very soft foam ring covered with a hybrid skin creating a very comfortable fit and cutting out a lot of ambient noise. Overall it does a great job and shaves off some ounces doing it. The left earcup has the pivoting mic arm that swings up to mute (one of my favorite headset features... keeps me from having to search for the mute button) and all of the controls. There is a dial specifically for XBox to switch between game and chat balance, the power/bluetooth pairing button, volume dial, mute button and a micro USB charging port (come on Nacon, get on board, it's 2022 how about USB charging port please!!!!). On the bottom of the right earcup the charging dock connector. The charging dock has a micro USB connector for a supplied charging cable and a USB A port for the wireless dongle. You can use the cable with the dock or you can use it to charge the headset without the dock (if traveling this is really helpful but don't forget the wireless dongle). Speaking of the dongle it has a selector switch that allows you to switch between a XBox and PC. I would have preferred that the dongle be set up to allow the XBox and PC to automatically recognize it without have to switch. One note, you have to remove the dongle from the USB port on the dock to switch it between XBox and PC. You can not access the switch with the dongle in place. Again, if it was done automatically this would not be a problem. Sound is on par with several of my higher end headsets especially when you download the Dolby Atmos app. It opens up your virtual world to a more immersive experience. Just playing the demos in the app proved to get that WOW response from me. When playing a few of my favorite FPS games I can tune the headset for better highs so I can hear approaching footsteps and clearer in game ambient sounds. I can also tune it for better bass response for music. For the price point it's a pretty solid buy. There are a few headsets that come close or might be slightly better sounding but you pay for it with added weight. So, for a sub $150 headset it's hard to go wrong with the RIG-800 Pro HX Wireless.

What you want in wireless gaming
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rig 800 Pro HX wireless headset has exceeded my expectations and is a unique and wonderful pair of headphones for gaming. Setting up is easy, and you can use on the Xbox, or on the PC. It comes with a charging stand, to which the included usb dongle fits into a port in the middle that is used for sending and receiving the wireless signal. If you don't want to have your charging stand close to your computer or Xbox, you can just put the receiver dongle directly into a usb port on the device, and plug in the usb for the charger stand elsewhere. There is a light on the front of the charger stand that will show when it is charging. The usb cable that runs from the base to the xbox/computer is a little under 3' long. The headset can only sit in the charger one way as the charging pins are only on one side. The headset is an all in one design, as it has a mixer built into it. The microphone can be stored in the up position and is how you mute the mic, it unmutes when you swing it into the down position. On the left ear, there is a power button. Holding it will turn your headset on or off and tapping it will give you a status update of the battery and connectivity. There is a volume roller, and there is a chat/gameplay mixer roller that can be used for more chat, balanced, or more gameplay. When the volume roller is spun, it does not stop turning, but will give an auditory noise when it is at max level down and up. The headset has a unique design, as it adjusts with snap brackets. The tabs pop out of the bracket and you can adjust the headset length that way, and there is also a cushion strap that can be removed as well. The headset is very comfortable to wear, the ear pads are very soft, but breathable, and the cups are large enough to fit completely over large ears. Sound quality is very good, but has room for improvement. The headphones are loud, but the overall max volume is a little low in my opinion. I get that it's dangerous to exceed so many decibles in headphone because of hearing damage but these could use a little more on the top end. The spatial sound is really good and can easily tell direction when playing shooting games . The microphone quality is very clear and clean by those who were asked online. The bass driver in these headphones are pretty good. They actually give sub frequency bass and testing them they respond to about 25hz. It isn't crazy loud ringing your head bass, but is definitely a plus considering a lot of gaming headset bass drivers don't go into sub frequency. Overall, these headphones are a very cool wireless setup for gaming, especially between xbox and pc. They are comfortable and have great sound. I was able to wear them for a couple hours with out getting any ear fatigue. I would just ask that they consider making the overall max volume higher.

Good quality headphones at a great price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Usually when it comes to gaming headphones they cost what they are worth, meaning you’re not going to find great overall headphones for $100, and usually the more you pay the better the quality and features. Some popular ones cost $300 and those have long lasting battery, completely wireless, either 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound comfortable overall and made with more premium materials. As for these Rig 800 Pro HX Wireless Gaming Headsets, you get a lot of options and features for the price. The comfort levels on these headphones is pretty good, some people will really like them and others not so much at first, the reason for that big discrepancy is, it kind of just depends on what you’re used to, these are comfortable but you have to get used to the stretchy band that goes on the top of your head and overall you just have to get used to them, but the same can be said about pretty much any other headsets. Overall the battery life is very good, there’s no way you’ll run out of juice on one sitting on a fully charged battery, and the neat thing is when you are done you just set them back down on the base and they’ll start automatically charging. These particular gaming headphones work with Xbox, and windows 11 PCs. Overall I would say the sound is pretty good, maybe not great like other headphones at twice the price, but overall very good. It is Dolby Atmos compatible and overall you’re getting a lot with this package. Good sound, comfortable high-quality gaming headphones had a pretty good price.

Slight Lack of Adjustability but Otherwise Great
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start with the good stuff. The headset is light comfortable and well it just works which is always a nice touch when it comes to stuff that is supposed to make your life easier or more fun. The Charging base is a great thing to be included since it means I never have to worry about fumbling to plug in a cable any time the battery gets low. Instead, I just drop the headset on the charging base when I'm not using it and I never have to worry about the batteries being dead when I want to use the headset. Another really nice feature is the fact that not only will this headset work with my XBOX without any fuss but I can also plug the base into my computer and use it for my computer gaming sessions as well. I don't do a lot of talking with online games but with the little I have done the mic is surprisingly not too bad which is a nice bonus. Sound wise this headset sounds just as good as ones from big name brands I could hardly tell the difference which is impressive considering those headsets can't be used with my Xbox as well. If I had to have one downside to the headset there is a minor lack of adjustability which for most people won't be an issue but if you have a larger head, you might find the headset sits a little further up your ears than you might otherwise expect since the ear cups don't move on the headband the only "adjustment" is the cloth strap. I got lucky and the main body is just long enough that the headset sits right at ear level, but the cloth strap is totally pressed against the main body of the headset. It's still comfortable and I don't really notice it any, but if you have a larger head, it could possibly be an issue. Otherwise, this headset is great.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.God awful sound even in stereo mode. It sounded like my game was coming through the other end of a tin can setup. Returned it the same day I bought it because it was so bad. Super disappointing since I have a 4+ year old RIG 800HX that sounds way better. At least the setup was easy.

Lightweight, comfortable, wireless - great sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the years I've had a number of different headsets, but some of my favorite have been those that include a charging base station. It's one less thing to have to keep track of in terms of wires for charging or dongles for connecting wirelessly. The single all-in-one unit is a great thing. Enter the RIG 800 Pro HX. The headset comes to the party with a lot of things you find on more expensive headsets. The charging cradle, wireless, lightweight, good fit (very custom fit, more on that in a minute), Dolby Atmos, etc. To start, the packaging is very green and black XBox oriented, which makes sense as it is designed for use with both XBox and PC, of which I've tried it on both. Connecting is a no frills USB connection which works as both power for the dock and the USB connection for the wireless. No extra power brick, no dongle, no muss. When using the headset, the sound is clean and clear, maybe not quite a full as another more expensive headset, but definitely no slouch either. It honestly feels like they did not have to skimp anywhere in this headset. The only gripe I have is that the microphone feels a little fragile, due to the thin posable arm that it is connected to, but even then, it can be flipped up to get it out of the way or mute it. I've watched videos, played call of duty, plants vs zombies, etc... in every case, the sound comes through faithfully reproduced and clear. When speaking to others through the mic I'm told I am clear without any issues. Now for where this headset really shines. The fit. The ear cups are removable and repositionable on each side in 3 preset locations. The inner band of the headband is flexible and stretchy and can be removed for larger heads. The ear cups themselves are very comfortable and the headset is not heavy. There is really a significant number of ways to configure the headset to fit anyone's head. All in all, I really feel like at this price point there is no sacrifice in quality or features. The single USB connection for all functions, wireless, a charging dock, repositionable fit, weight, sound quality... I could go on. This is a very good option for anyone playing XBox or on PC (selectable with a switch on the side). If you're in the market for something with all of these features and cannot choose a more expensive one, this really does find itself a good place among them even at a lower price point.

Great sound and battery life
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been looking for a new headset for my Series X for a while now when the opportunity to pick up the RIG 800 wireless model came up. I was immediately impressed by the reported battery life and Dolby Atmos sound built in, so this seemed like the right choice for the money. On the positives side - the headset is relatively light given the size of the ear cups. Some weight loss was achieved through removing the adjustable sliders and replacing them with a manual set of holes to choose from. This might present some challenges if you can’t get a good fit from one of the choices, but at least once it’s done you don’t have to adjust them again. The base works well and is easy to seat the headset into. It has this unusual design where the wireless dongle plugs into the base, then the base into the Xbox. It didn’t make sense at the time so I was struggling to get connected initially but finally figured it out. Sound performance is great - actually really good for a product at this price point. The cups are comfortable and can be worn for long periods of time without head fatigue. Where i took off a point is the on-headset controls. I’d have preferred they used both sides and larger, more clear controls than have everything on one side and trying to discern which button or knob does what thing. It’s a distraction when you’re trying to play and need to adjust something. More than once i hit the volume instead of the game/chat mix knob. All in all, for the money I’d say these are a great way to keep your kids (or adults) connected to the action.

The First Upgrade to any Gaming Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an earlier model of the wired headset from RIG, and I love it. As much as I do enjoy using them, their comfort, sound quality, mic clarity are all fantastic, I really wished that I had the same great features in a wireless model. This is where the 800 Pro HX come in. They take everything that I loved from the older wired models and adds the ability to plug into an Xbox and PC using the included USB-A adapter. The adapter has a switch to change it from PC to Console mode, and you can have the USB adapter plugged in to the charging station to streamline it a bit. This headset is super comfortable. Adjusting them to get them to the best size means that you need to unclick each ear up from the headband and adjust them. Once I moved it to the largest setting the seemingly floating headband means that I feel no pressure on the top of my head and can comfortably use them for extended gaming sessions. This combined with the very comfortable ear cups make these a treat to use. The sound quality is just as great as the comfort. These are Dolby compatible and once you download the app on your PC or Xbox it does a great job of really improving the quality and separation of the sound. You can hear enemies coming in from any angle, and really enjoy the various sound effects in any game you play. I was using this with some FPS, MMORPG, and some Adventure games. Each of these AAA titles sounded great with these headphones, no decrease in quality coming from the wired versions of these. The charging cradle make is super easy to charge and store your headphones when they are not being used. Battery seems to last forever. I have used them for extended gaming sessions and once I finished I just set it in the charging stand and boom ready to go for the next round of gaming. I could easily recommend this amazing headset to anyone looking to upgrade their gaming experience. This headset is super comfortable, has amazing sound, the mic quality is great as well as the flip up to mute feature. The easy charging cradle and PC/Xbox adaptability is great. I love this headset.

We apologize you did not have an ideal experience with the RIG 800 PRO HX. Please note that all Nacon products are covered by a 1-year warranty to cover any manufacturers defects. Curious about your charging method- you mention "as soon as you unplug it" but the RIG 800 PRO HX is typically charged by placing it in the multifunction base station to charge the headset - red LED indicating charging, it goes out once the headset is charged. You can charge it by plugging direct into the headset with the USB-A to USB-C cable, it's just not as typical.
