    Lightweight comfort

Aside from the obvious need for good audio in the headphones and a good microphone, the main thing I look for in gaming headphones is comfort. Yes, there are other things like connectivity, app use, etc. but if they’re not comfortable to wear for long periods of time, I won’t be using them period, so the rest doesn’t really matter. The first thing to note is how lightweight the RIG headphones are. The LOOK like they should weigh more than they actually do. It’s one of those things where you go to pick up something heavier and it kind of flies up in your hand because it was so much lighter than you expected. Right off the bat, that’s a huge plus. Heavy headphones are a no no for gaming. The ear pads are also big and extremely soft so they cushion your ears and head (rather than squishing everything together). Now that we’ve established these are comfortable, let’s talk sound. Nope, these aren’t top of the line headphones, BUT the sounds is still clear and crisp, especially in the mid-range, which I think covers most of what you need in gaming. There was no distortion, even when turned up to a decently high volume. Make sure you use the Dolby Atmos app to get the best possible sound quality. Battery life is great and I like the charging base that’s included. I have only tested these on a PC, not an Xbox, but I had no problems and am loving them!

Wow!! These are great. I have a big head and these are very comfortable. The simultaneous connections is done well. It notifies you audibly what the status is (very nice). They sound great and the Dolby sound once you activate it (follow the instructions) was pretty good. Made watching movies and TV shows a different experience. Gaming was interesting wearing these, nothing bad just interesting. I didn't realize what I was missing until I tried my old headphones after wearing these while playing Ghost Recon Breakpoint. No more folks sneaking up on me from behind. The button layout took a little bit to get used to but it feels pretty good now. It was like anything else that is different from what you are used to using. The mic sounds pretty good during phone calls while I had it paired to my phone via bluetooth (callers actually liked these better than my noise cancelling earbuds). They hold a charge for a good bit of time. I got about 8 hours out of them and probably could have gone longer. Did I mention how comfortable they are? I forgot I had them on at one point when I took a break and went outside to get the mail. A+ sound quality and they seem to be built well enough where I would assume they will last a while.

I have used a lot of headphone both wireless and wired with my gaming systems, PC and platforms and wireless is always the way to go so as not to have clunky wires in the way etc. This set is awesome and RIG has always produced some very solid headphones and I am using this with my gaming PC at the moment and its great. I like the feel and the comfort of these headphones and also I like the fact you can adjust the ear pieces up or down depending on positioning of your ears and the mic also. The sound quality is awesome and the added Dolby Atmos quality is a nice feature and addition. I do like the charging base as well making this easy to take off and just set on the base to charge quickly during downtime. This is also easy to set up and blends nicely into my gaming set up which makes this an even better draw. I would highly recommend this set, for any serious gamer looking for a solid headset and great sound and easy controls to immerse the gamer into an even greater gaming experience.

    Best Gaming Headset

The RIG 900 Max HX Wireless Over-the-Ear Gaming Headset is a fantastic headset that can work with all major gaming devices. This isn't my first RIG headset, and the 900 Max HX continues the tradtion of what I consider to be the best gaming headset maker out there. Out of the box, I could feel the quality in the build. The top headband is thin metal which is so much stronger than the plastic that many headsets use. The lower headband that actually sits against the top of the head is a soft, stretchy fabric. The ear cups each have 3 different places that they can be connected to the headband depending on the size of your head. I would say that I have a large, adult-sized head so I put each cup in the lowest slot and it felt great on my head. The mic boom is 'pull up to mute' on the left side. The left ear cup has all the buttons: Power, Multi-function, Bluetooth pairing, the volume wheel, and the USB-C charging port. The right ear cup has the charging contact on the bottom. The color scheme is matte black with RIG lettered across the headband and on the side of the earcups. There is no RGB which means that these aren't out of place in the office or the coffee shop. The ear cups are oval-shaped, and put a soft amount of pressure around the ears. I wear glasses and the pressure was not an issue against the stems of my glasses. I wore them for hours because they are my new favorite headset, and they felt just as nice to wear hours later as they did when I first put them on. The unit can be charged directly via USB-C in about 2 hours. There is also a black charging base with which you plug the USB-C cable into the back and then set the headset vertically into the holes in the charging base. There are charging pins that stick up from the bottom of the hole for the right ear cup so you gently squeeze in as you set the headset down in there so that the charging pins connect with the bottom of the right ear cup. The base has a light on the front to let you know that charging is ready, or complete in about 4 hours. It was easy to set the headset down into the right position for charging, and they felt securely upright. I liked that the headset automatically connects when you pull if off the charging base. Speaking of connecting, the headset can utilize a USB-A dongle to connect either by plugging the dongle into the devivce or by plugging the dongle into the charging base in a special area and having the base connected to the device via the USB-C to USB-A cable. The device can also connect via Bluetooth. The device can also utilize dual-channel connectivity to allow it to connect via the dongle and via Bluetooth simultaneously to allow device audio on one channel while being to answer a phone call, for an example, on the Bluetooth channel. There are call controls utilizing the multi-function button on the headset. There are 2 apps of note on Android or Apple. The 900 Max app is how you can tweak numerous settings for the headset via your phone and Bluetooth connection, such as EQ settings, mic gain, and the voice feedback level. The other app is for Dolby Atmos and it will walk you through taking pictures of your head and neck to provide a personalized hearing profile that is optimized for your head shape and ear placement. The audio is fantastic and has good bass punch with default EQ settings. There is a Bass Boost setting in the app that makes music sound amazing. At the same time, I used a FPS EQ setting and game audio sounded amazing. There is no Active Noise Cancelling, but it does an outstanding job of dampening outside noise. Anytime someone would try to talk to me, I'd have to mute the audio to talk to them. I tried the headset on my PC and on my PS5 and everything I played on the RIG 900 Max HX sounded great. They aren't heavy on my head. I wore them for well over 5 hours at a time and it felt great; my ears didn't even get sweaty. I answered calls on it and everyone said my voice sounded clear. My one wish is that the Max 900 app was available on Windows so that I didn't have to connect to my phone via Bluetooth to adjust audio settings. Overall, that is a very small issue compared to how much I have been enjoying this headset. I think RIG has been making the best headsets for many years, and this is the latest example. I would recommend this headset for any user for gaming, for music, for calls, and for business.

It's hard to find a headset you really like at times. Do you want to be immersed in full surround sound, at about 15% of the cost of a great home theater setup? This was my main question when reviewing the RIG - 900 Max HX Wireless Over-the-Ear Gaming Headset. Setup is so easy, you just plug the usb stand into your console/pc, fire that up and the headset will connect to your device via bluetooth connection. There's a quick start guide that will get you set up within 5 minutes. Lets go over some pros and cons: Pros: Comfortable headset, although it is a little heavy so this might change depending on the size of ones head. The sound is excellent on these, there doesn't seem to be any kind of lag or delay with them either. I'm not sure if these gave me any of edge or not but it was nice having these for some of those battle royal games. Cons: Comfortable headset but it's little heavy and bulky at times. I say bulky because my chair has a headrest on it. This isn't an issue otherwise. I wish there was a better dedicated app to adjust these on the xbox console. There's a dolby atmos app but some of the features are blocked behind a paywall/monthly sub. The only other real nagging issue I have with these is the lack of bass. Overall this is a pretty solid headset, simulates surround sound well. If you have that super awesome home theater you will be a little disappointed but when you're on late at night with those late night gaming sessions these are great if you don't want to wake anyone up!

Great headset. I had the original RIG 800s, and these are an upgrade to that headset. The headset is relatively lightweight, the audio sounds great, and the comfort is still there. The charging base is a nice addition, and a spot for the dongle is great. I've used this on my PC and I really like that it switches the audio from the PC to the headset when I pick it up. I would recommend this to many people.

I would say that these are about a 4.5 vs straight 5. They are very light and easy to adjust. Love the fact that they have a charging stand too. I am coming from an old Turtle Beach headset that you had to physically plug in to charge, which was annoying. I also bought these on a return. Originally bought the Steelseries Nova 7s and ran into issues with their desktop software. The fact that I had to install that to simply remove the audio limiter was crazy. Never got the headphones to work with their software on a Mac or Win machine. With the RIGs, I just installed an app on my phone and was able to tweak all my settings...brilliant! And no problems connecting. The sound is really good too...would not say it's amazing but great low-end response and good details (footsteps, etc...). I did get them on sale and think they are totally worth it as a wireless headset. If there are any "dings", I wish the mic chat button was a little easier to find/more prominent. When playing online, I have to search a bit to find it in order to adjust mic volume...either a dedicated volume dial or making the button a little easier to find would be nice. They also felt a little cheap. But that is also why they are so light...think someone else made that same comment. This also impacts the "lower" price point too. Overall, super pleased with these! I think I would pay the full retail price when stacked up with what's avail in wireless headsets, but getting them on sale is def a bonus. Time will tell though on how well they hold up...we shall see.

So I tried the RIG- 900 Max HX on a few different devices on the Nintendo switch, PlayStation 5, my gaming desktop and gaming laptop. The dock Is really well thought out you can plug the transmitter in there and connect the dock to your console or PC plus you can charge your headset on the dock as well. On console the headset sounds very good I had to do a few tweaks on PS5 to get the sound I needed. Played a few different shooters and GTA V . The app from Rig is very basic the the mic sounds ok not the best in my opinion and you can't adjust it and very little noise reduction. The headset overall is super light weight. I had them on for hours and I can't complain about that or squeezing my head too much. By the way the headband is metal which I love super durable..now where this headset shines is with the Dolby app you can your head and then loads the profile to your PC . On PC the audio is completely different. It sounded more emersive like I was there. The same shooter game and GTA V sounded better on PC with the Dolby Atmos working

The box that these headphones arrived in was tricky to open and took some manpower. The earpieces were fun to snap in place and members of the household would say that it was satisfying. The headphones took a lengthy period of time to charge. The microphone was nice and clear on the first use. There are two options to connect it to the XBOX. Option one: wireless USB dongle, you plug it in to an open USB port on the XBOX and your headphones connect wirelessly across the room. Option 2: (preferred) connect the charging base directly to the XBOX, the USB dongle connects inside the charging base. This way the headphones charge when not in use. To save some time. SImply pick the headphones up from the base and they are instantly connected. You are ready to immerse yourself in gaming. There is a comfort strap, which allows you to wear these headphones for hours on end and you hardly know that they are even there. So far I have only used these for gaming, but you can connect them to your mobile device, such as a phone, as well.

    I found my gaming headset!

I've been looking for a headset to use for gaming for a while now. I've tried a few different models and brands out at this point, and the most consistent take away for me has been comfort. I have an above average sized head I would say, so the challenge for me has been finding a headset that doesn't have a clamping force that fatigues me after an hour or so, as I do sometimes game longer than that. Wireless vs wired has not been a priority for me as I can plug a wire into a gamepad, or if I'm on my PC I can plug a wire directly in without too much hardship. Beyond those two things, sound quality is definitely a priority for me. On comfort and sound quality, the RIG 900 Max HX headset is awesome for me. First, comfort is surprising. There a clamp, but it's not too aggressive, and the ear pads are soft and a memory foam feel, but I am not sure if it is memory foam or not. Due to the decent clamp, there is no warming effect that gets uncomfortable to me also, which is another factor I have not had luck with. The band over the head is metal and feels super sturdy, no creaking, and then there is the relief strap that pads your head. The one nuance to adjustability, because it's here, but the ear cups have to be adjust off your head, they don't slide, but easily disconnect and have three positions you can choose from to accommodate your ears. I found this to be fine as once you adjust them, it isn't needed again. The boom mic is fixed to the headset but activates by swinging down, or deactivates swinging up. There is a tone for each, so you know when you're not mic'ed. The controls on the headset are basic but easy, with a volume dial, a power button, and a mute button. Because there is Bluetooth functionality, there is an app you can install on your mobile device that opens up much more customizability for this headset. It has Dolby built in, and the equalizer in app is very customizable. I love this. These tune to your exact liking. It also has some presets you can use that are made for your needs, like FPS, where the mods are boosted to hear things like footsteps. In addition to BT, you have a USB dongle that plugs into the console or PC, and provides that higher bandwidth signal for more response. One cool thing I found was that the charging base for the headset that is includes has a slot for this dongle, so you can plug that in, then plug the base into the console, and it acts like the transmitter. So when you aren't using them, you can charge them through the console. This is how I am using it. Pretty neat. There is a USB C port on the headset also for charging, and I believe this can also act as a wired connection. Sound wise, this headset does great with music and video along with gaming. The atmospheric surround sound is great for me. Playing Starfield, I was immersed in wind whipping around my avatar as I was exploring a planet. Very pleasing experience. I experience no lag with FPS sound effects when I pull triggers, and this is wireless. Overall, this headset has checked all the boxes for my need to have a gaming experience personalized to me, and I can easily wear it for long gaming sessions when needed. Because it has the dual BT and wireless transmitter, I have the ability to really customize it and enjoy my games. Definitely a winner for me!

Arrived with a charging base, USB A to C cable (a rather short 24" - if you want to use this headset as 'wired' you'll have to use or source another cable), and a USB type A dongle. Setup: The QuickStart guide that came in the box is 12 steps long and contains mostly line art and limited text. The instructions indicate it may be used with PC/laptop as well as a variety of gaming platforms. So far so good. I worked my way through steps through 1-6 without any issues - this meant I was able to assemble the headset (easy to size and clip), charge it (easy), install the adapter to the charging base (again, easy) and turn the headset on (simple). At this point, not having a long enough cable handy for wired use, I opted to use the Bluetooth connection. I was initially unable to connect via Bluetooth - not sure why, but it took about 5 attempts (power cycling the headset and repeating the connection routine (press button for 6 seconds while head set is turned on) before it showed up as an available device then worked and paired. I will keep an eye on that but it seems to be working fine although not simultaneous now. With Bluetooth now functional, steps 7-12 were then completed and I was up and running. Swapped between PC, PS4, and X Box without a problem. Some Bluetooth latency on PC (as mentioned) and X Box, but PS4 audio seemed simultaneous. Other features: Dolby Atmos app install was simple but honestly I did not see much improvement (other than bass) with Atmos vs without even after cycling through the options. Switching to microphone mute was a simple as lifting the mic boom up - it is a rigid boom but picks up voice as well as adjustable/flexible booms I have used. Voice through the mic is clear and chat mode is pretty easy to control using the button on the earpiece. Game to chat volume adjustment was also intuitive. Comfort and use: Now that the headset was working it was time to test the most important factor - comfort. I have a large head (large enough that I have only found 2 headsets in my life that I could wear for long periods without a headache afterwards). Even with the tabs set to L, I had to push the set down to the full extent of the strap to get full over the ear coverage. This had me worried about long game sessions giving me a headache... so off I went into an expected 2 hour gaming session. After about an hour, I had to take the headset off for a few minutes but nothing terrible and after putting them back on and continuing gaming - afterward, no headache. Given the issues I've had in the past, I can say these are a pretty darn good headphones. Despite the initial Bluetooth issues, I'd have to say these are a 'buy' recommendation if you are looking for a good solid set that is very adjustable for fit to a wide range of heads.

Never heard of this brand before but these are definitely impressive. I have a special needs son who goes through headphones like crazy. I always use them for a long time and hand them down because he is ridiculously rough on them. Noise canceling is usually the most important feature that this house looks for. Most of the time it’s hit or miss. I’ve had 100 dollar headphones for him and 500 dollar headphones and these have by far the best noise canceling out of any of them I have had. I tried them on right after I opened them and my wife was talking to me and even without anything playing you cannot hear anything. I mean they are beyond impressive. Comfort is another big thing. I wore them for work for 5 hours straight hooked up to my MacBook and again didn’t pinch my head and are comfortable as one could ask for. The only problem I have with these is the mic works about 50% of the time. If I get a FaceTime call they can’t hear me half the time even though I can hear them. Then the next call I’ll get works perfectly fine. It’s very random. If that’s not a deal breaker for you these are bound phenomenal over the ear headphones

For a wireless gaming headset, I have nothing but praise for it. For one I love the fact that instead of adjusting the band, you just select the on the cups and wear it. It is a pleasant change and is extremely comfortable. Not only that, for the headset they are noticeably light and comfortable, which is great for longer sessions gaming. This is a dual connection headset as well, via USB dongle and Bluetooth at the same time, but the Bluetooth I find is really only good for connecting to a phone, trying to use it to watch videos is not recommended as it does have noticeable lag, again though if you are using this headset for gaming you will be using the USB Dongle connection. The USB dongle can be connected directly into the PC or better yet into the charging base which you can plug into the PC, so when you are done and set the headdown for charging the USB dongle is kept safe. Soundwise this headset does it for me. Since sound is subjective I will say these sound great for gaming or watching videos/movies so I am very happy with them and the wireless range is very good, allowing you to get up and get snacks while still hearing the action. Overall this is a great and awesome headset and I highly recommend them for the comfort and sound.

Good audio comfy for a bit but not long term, and the biggest gripe is the instructions. Use words when explaining stuff, you just assume people will understand the pictures but maybe use your words like an adult. Really makes a difference in people enjoying the “easy” set up they claim to have.
