The two piece original was not installed properly. It was placed on the top of the door frame and the door, The frame piece kept collapsing below the level of the top of the door and blocked the door from shutting. The installer repaired by screwing the piece into the door frame (not an advised installation). Everything has worked ok since.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased extra sensors because he alarm system only came with 4 and I wanted to secure all of the windows and doors that I wanted to add protection to, one of the sensors fell off of the window and it immediately sounded the alarm so it definitely works.

One sensor was a little far from the base station so I move the extender into the room this sensor was being installed and the sensor connected! These new sensors are a lot smaller than the ones that came with my ring alarm.

But naturally common sense woulda clicked in, that it just doesn’t work as we want. Needs more for it to sound.

Unfortunately, I needed additional sensors. I was able to purchase the bundled sensors at an awesome price at Best Buy!

The features and technology provided by the Ring Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen) are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take if your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen) is disconnecting easily when opening and closing windows and doors:
1. Check the positioning of the sensor and magnet - they should be properly aligned and no more than 1 inch apart when in the "closed" position.
2. Move the Contact Sensor closer to the Ring Alarm Base Station to improve connectivity.
3. Add a Range Extender between the Contact Sensor and Base Station to improve signal strength and range.
4. Test the connection by pressing the button on the front of the device: - Three green blinks means it's ready to connect to the Base Station - Single green blink means it's connected and communicating properly - Single red blink indicates it cannot communicate with the Base Station
5. Check the battery power - cold temperatures may drain batteries faster. The sensor uses two CR2032 batteries which should last up to 3 years depending on usage.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, we recommend to perform a factory reset on the device. You can reset your Contact Sensor by following these steps:
* Slide to remove the Contact Sensor from its base.
* Use a pin or paperclip to press and hold the pinhole reset button on the back. After the LED light turns off, release the reset button.
