Does not work with SmartThings despite people saying that it works for them - from two sensors I bought, one paired properly but showed as smoke and leak sensor besides a contact sensor and the other one doesn't pair at all. Would have uploaded pictures if this defective site would've let me.

I purchased 4 NEW Ring contact s But, upon activating them, 2 of 4 had low battery & defective! How is that possible when the items were supposed to be new. Unless, the seller is selling REFURBISHED items as new item!

      Hi Twintips007.

We understand the importance of having your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor 2nd Gen to operae as intended so that you can effectively monitor your home. The features and technology behond the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor 2nd Gen are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitley provide you with more information regarding the concern that you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with reinstalling Ring Alarm Contact Sensor. The best way to remove a Contact Sensor would be to use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive and then using a putty knife to peel the Contact Sensor off of its mounting surface without damaging that area. 3M double sided tape or 3M Command Strips is also a great replacement for the adhesive and can be found at most stores or online.

One of the sensor batteries died, and Ring won’t send a replacement. This was supposed to be a new item, and the battery is expected to last, but it died within two to three weeks.

      Hi Vanq.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) is meeting the standards it's intended to provide. The Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.) is designed to be a DIY home security solution that can be trusted to provide you with lasting coverage. Rest assured, we're here to help!

It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the battery life of the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor. We recommend checking the connection of the device to ensure that it has a good signal to the Ring Alarm Base Station. Also, the Ring Alarm Contact Sensors (2nd Gen.) use 2 CR2032 batteries which can be purchased on Amazon or at most retailers where batteries are found. To replace the batteries in your sensor, please follow these steps:

Disarm the Contact Sensor (2nd Generation) in the Ring app using Mode Setting for the specific device you’re working on or disarm the Ring Alarm system from the dashboard of the app to prevent triggering the alarm while troubleshooting.
Carefully remove the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Generation) from its mounting bracket by sliding it off.
Remove the existing batteries and insert the new ones, ensuring that the polarities (+ and -) match up correctly.
Slide the cover back on the Ring Alarm Contact Sensor securely until you hear it snap into place.
If your sensor is still showing as tampered, remove the magnet from its position, wait five seconds, then stick it back in place. Make sure that it is no more than 1 inch apart from your sensor.
Confirm that your sensor is showing as online and can communicate with the Ring Alarm Base Station.

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Alarm Contact Sensor (2nd Gen.), please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

      Thank you,
