Amazing product. Easy to set up. Down fall is not knowing you need a permit to use in your home.

The keypad in the set is defective; instead of the digits running from 0 through 9, there are two 9s and no 8. I thought that it wasn't a big deal, but it turns out that the first 9 key doesn't act like an 8 if you use it in your security code. Of course, I realized this after installing every other piece and gluing the sensors to the doors, windows, and walls. Reached out to Ring customer service twice and they were completely useless (one time they completely ignored my question). They wanted me to reach out to their support team for troubleshooting. How do you troubleshoot a visibly defective piece of equipment? Also reached out to Best Buy and all the only option I had was to return the whole thing. Again, everything is now installed and I would have to remove everything just to have one of the pieces replaced. It's a waste of time and a waste of materials. If this is how Ring responds to such an insignificant issue, it makes me wonder how useful they would be in an emergency.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us directly. We appreciate it. Having a properly functioning device with all ten numbers is imperative for being able to key in your pin code. Rest assured, we have some warranty and troubleshooting solutions to resolve your concern.

The Ring security system is a popular choice for home security, offering a range of devices designed to enhance safety and monitoring. Here are some key points to consider:
# Features:
1. **Video Doorbells**: Ring's video doorbells allow users to see, hear, and speak to visitors via a smartphone app, even when they're not home.
2. **Security Cameras**: Indoor and outdoor cameras provide live streaming and recording capabilities, with motion detection alerts.
3. **Smart Lighting**: Ring offers smart lights that can be integrated with their security system to enhance outdoor visibility and deter intruders.
4. **Alarm System**: The Ring Alarm system includes door/window sensors, motion detectors, and a base station for a comprehensive security solution.
## Pros:
- **User-Friendly App**: The Ring app is intuitive and allows for easy management of devices and alerts.
- **Integration**: Compatible with other smart home devices, including Amazon Alexa, for voice control and automation.
- **Customizable Alerts**: Users can tailor notifications to avoid unnecessary disturbances.
- **Subscription Plans**: Optional cloud storage for video recordings through Ring Protect, providing access to recorded footage.
### Cons:
- **Subscription Fees**: While basic features are free, many advanced functionalities require a monthly subscription.
- **Privacy Concerns**: Some users have raised issues regarding data privacy and the potential for unauthorized access.
- **Dependence on Wi-Fi**: A stable internet connection is necessary for optimal performance; outages can disrupt functionality.
### Overall Impression:
The Ring security system is effective for those seeking a flexible, scalable home security solution. Its ease of use and integration with smart home ecosystems make it a strong contender in the market, though potential customers should consider privacy implications and ongoing costs.

Great DIY Alarm system

This is the perfect alarm system for someone who wants to DIY. The UI is pretty user friendly, and the app helps walk you through the set up process. We had a little bit of trouble with one of the sensors, out of the box, but it was just that the plastic battery tab didn't come out all the way. The 7 day "practice" period is great for people who haven't used a home alarm system before, and need to get used to remembering to disarm the alarm before opening doors! The ability to arm via voice command with Alexa is very handy, for when you've already settled into bed and don't want to get back up and walk to the keypad. There is an option to also disarm with your voice, but it requires you to call out your passcode and we aren't really comfortable with that. Definitely suggest getting a second keypad, and the expansion process of adding more components is very easy. Overall, great product and great value. So far, we are very happy with it!

This is our second system, we have the alarm, doorbell pro, three outdoor floodlight cameras and two indoor cameras. This was purchased for our college students apartment. Love the Ring products and the new generation two is even nicer with the smaller size of the sensors. Setup up is very quick and easy. Ring security system has battery backup built in and cellular connection backup if you lose your internet connection. You can add additional devices anytime. System monitoring is a deal at one hundred dollars a year. Awesome products from Ring.

In my pursuit of a home security solution that combines reliability with elegance, the Ring Alarm 8-Piece Security Kit has proven to be an exemplary choice. Its thoughtful design and seamless integration into my living space offer both peace of mind and aesthetic harmony.
The kit includes a base station, keypad, four contact sensors, a motion detector, and a range extender, providing comprehensive coverage for my residence. The intuitive setup process and user-friendly Ring app facilitate effortless control and monitoring, aligning with my preference for streamlined technology.
The system’s compatibility with other Ring products and Amazon Alexa enhances its functionality, allowing for a cohesive smart home experience. The optional professional monitoring service adds an extra layer of security, offering reassurance without being intrusive.
While the built-in siren could benefit from increased volume, the overall performance and reliability of the system are commendable. Its unobtrusive presence and dependable operation make it a valuable addition to my home.
In summary, the Ring Alarm 8-Piece Security Kit embodies a balance of sophistication and practicality, delivering effective security with understated elegance.

i purchased the Ring Alarm Security Kit 5-piece (2nd-gen) and the Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit as a bundle during Best Buy's on-line Black Friday sales event and had it delivered to my home since i would receive it earlier than if delivered to the store.
i wanted to replace the large 30+ year old Radio Shack alarm box but keep the wired doors and windows zones since they still worked and according to what i read, the Retrofit Alarm kit is used to interface existing wired doors and windows zones with the Ring Alarm base.
because this review is on the Ring Alarm Security kit and not the bundle i separated the part of my review on the Ring Retrofit Alarm Kit and did it on that item review
the Ring Alarm Security Kit contained everything in one box with the instructions to install the alarm and each accessory in the kit.
- the alarm base station was easy to mount once i knew where i wanted to place it.
-> i used a piece of paper to mark the holes from the back of the alarm so i knew where to place the screws on the wall to hang the alarm
- the keypad was easy to mount since the holder was able to slide off and i used it to mark where to place the screws on the wall to hang the keypad (near the kitchen door)
i downloaded the Ring app from the Apple App Store to my iPhone and iPad
-> using the Ring App on my iPad:
-> configured the Ring Alarm base to connect to my WIFI
-> added the keypad
-> did not need to add the Range Extender, Motion Detector and Contact Sensor
-> you can customize the Ring Alarm base station chime and volume, the brightness of the 'Ring' and other things through the Ring app
all in all, i like the Ring Alarm system, how easy it was to set up, how small the Ring Alarm base and Retrofit Alarm kit are when compared to the old Radio Shack alarm box which i removed
from the wall after i transferred the wired doors and windows zones to the Retrofit Alarm kit.
i like how you get a notification on your device and an audible chime from the alarm base when any zone is opened or closed - all of these are customizable through the Ring app.
i would recommend the Ring Alarm Security kit and if you are looking to replace your old working alarm system with working wired zones, then i would recommend the Ring Alarm Retrofit kit
(see my review on the Ring Alarm Retrofit kit)

I purchased a new house and my wife wanted a security system. Since standard security systems are incredibly expensive, I researched Ring. It is a super-easy DIY solution and is great for the average homeowner who wants piece of mind. The alarm is SUPER LOUD, so no issues hearing it from anywhere in the house.
There is no monthly cost, but if you want more features (like arming/disarming remotely) you'll need to pay a monthly or annual subscription.

If you are looking for a simple to use, simple to set up security set up then the Ring alarm system might be for you. I shopped around for systems, even receiving ADT’s Blue system before sending it back.
I chose the Ring system mostly because it doesn’t require you to have a monthly service.
Buyer Beware: If you do not pay for Ring’s monthly service you lose quite a few desirable options. Read the fine print.
Set up is a breeze! However, let me forewarn you. The wireless camera batteries take FOREVER to charge. Like 5-10 hours. If you buy a camera, buy extra batteries or a solar panel to go with it.
The sticky tape wore out on my motion sensor within the first two months. Luckily nothing broke but you may want to purchase stronger, 3M double sided tape before sticking it to the wall.
I hate writing reviews but hope this helps someone out there trying to decide. If you do buy it don’t blame me if you are unhappy with it.
Cheers!

This is a nice system for beginners, especially if you're doing it yourself. This system has the basic necessities you need to start off. If you're willing to spend a few dollars more you can buy the doorbell cam and if you other sensors to make the system a whole complete unit. Installation is not hard at all if you follow instructions and it even gives you a time period to judge if you decide you want to make it professionally monitored. All in all a nice beginning.

Ring 2 Alarm System

Had this ring 2 alarm system for about a month now. The sensors are smaller, same with the key pad and speaker. Works the same as the one we had previously only downside is with this one we didn't get two key pads like the first gen model had. It's nicer than everything is smaller and we were able to sync them up with the gen 1 sensors as well. Connecting to the app works the same as well.
