I was a bit skeptical about getting this system but it was on sale and I am a bestbuy member and received additional savings. I am GLAD I did. So out of the box the system is somewhat simple, nothing fancy. The keypad does not light up unless you walk up to it or touch the keys, so you do not know what status your system is in. They should change that. The set up is quite simple. Scan the QR code to the device you are installing, it then prompts and allows you to test the connectivity, then you are good to go, What I like is you can control your system with your phone locally and remotely, free of charge. Other companies charge for that capability.. Now Ring also has a charge for 24 monitoring but for $10, that's not bad. Speaking of monitoring I tripped the alarm accidentally and they call me RIGHT away. Overall I like this system.. I have it paired with the doorbell and hope to integrate cameras.

I’ve had this system for 3 months. In that time I’ve had a contact sensor randomly go offline, and a motion detector. The keypad also goes offline nearly once a week as does a keypad I purchased from Lowe’s. This is very concerning since the keypad is the only way to activate the panic feature. If your base station goes offline or gets low on battery the professional monitoring station does not call to check in. I wouldn’t trust this system to protect you. It’s more of a possible deterant if someone with bad intentions cases your home. With sensors randomly going offline I wouldn’t trust this system. The only good thing about this setup is the cheap hardware and very cheap $10 a month all inclusive plan. BUT you get what you pay for! This needs a serious redo.

      Hi Coquipr79,

This should not be the case. Being that your Base Station should be plugged in at all times for non-stop power, your battery backup should only initiate if something should happen to your power. Would you please email me at [email protected]? I would like to investigate the issues that you are encountering further so that I can work to improve your Ring experience today.

      Thanks,

A GOOD SYSTEM AND EASY SET UP

I've had this system for 2 months now and it seems to function very well. The setup was easy. They only issue that I have right now, is that both keypads have frozen on me at some point and I had to reset to fix the issue. I leave them both plugged in because the manufacture said that it can be left plugged in with no issue. Kinda false. I've read other reviews that said it was better to leave it on battery so that it functions better, but I don't see if the alarm is set or disarmed when it runs on battery mode.

The system is easy to install. The batteries seem to last unusually long between charges, which is a good thing. In the beginning stages we kept the keypads constantly wired to power and experienced issues with the keypads locking up. Once support told us, to keep them on battery until charging time, that problem was alleviated. The whole system syncs to the cameras and to alexa. Its nice to pay $10 a month for monitoring, video storage from every device, and lifetime warranty on every part. And even better that we can arm the system while talking to alexa and never have to open the app.

We were upgrading the security in out office from an old hardwired system. To minimize surprises, I bout the smallest system for my house. It's working there flawlessly. Then I bought the larger system for the office. I do wish Ring would sell an interface to use the older wired motion sensors in the office on thier system, but with a bit of searching on Youtube, I found a way to use a door switch to tie the older ones in, rather than replace the 10 + motion sensors already wired. As they were all in series, only took one door switch. Fewer batteries to replace in a few years. The system had some bugs in the key pads, they would disconnect from the system, both on the same day, but I believe the latest firmware update finally fixed that. We would have to use the app to control the system, till we reset the keypads. Time will tell, so far so good. The one at the house did the same thing, different day from the office, but again, not since the latest firmware update. Yesterday, I added a Kwikset 914 (Z-wave) deadbolt, it now controls the alarm seamlessly. I lock the door, it arms the alarm, I unlock it, it disarms it. No more running to the keypad, or telling Alexa to disarm the alarm.

The alarm system was easy to install however the kit included 1 defective keypad and a defective motion detector. Ring, however, immediately sent out replacement parts. Customer service was very helpful and guided me through some issues I had with the installation.

The security system is so easy to set up and it alerts you by notification on your phone of any movement in your home when your away and if any doors open. The only issue I’ve ever had was that the key pads stopped working. It was an easy fix by resetting them but what if it wasn’t working while someone broke into my home?

Everything is great about this security system, easy to install and connect. My only complain on the package is there's no really need for a second keypad.

Very cool and useful security for your home. 3 stars because there could be better features like wireless battery options for the keypad and the base without having to pay. Also, set up is tricky and not so streamlined.

Recently purchased this system. Wanted to get away from the high price of professional alarm companies. Wasn't thrilled with having to plug the keypads into an outlet. Wish they had remotes to arm and disarm system. Hoping it works out...

Not that easy to setup. Front door sensor will not work-tried two of them. Outside light needs to be hard wired, was hoping for wireless and had no choice of color. Base station and keypad need ac power. Hoping I can exchange for a camera based system. In home consultant was not all that helpful. Sold me this system without much consideration of other systems. Not happy.

I bought this system on March 13th after the store clerk recommended it. I paid for installation and one of the key pads didn’t work so the installation tech told me they would send out another. It arrived so I was excited and went back to Bestbuy and bought additional cameras and door sensors to add to the completion of the system. I was told that I had to call Geek Squad to set up the appointment. Long story short the geek squad came out and said they don’t have a work order to finish the installation of the security system just to put up the cameras. I will be returning the system and really disappointed in Bestbuy on this one. They normally get it right or make it right.

Would give it like 4.25 stars if I could. Using it a few days and it's really good. I did have trouble with the motion sensor setup. I set that up a few days later and I noticed it wasn't recording the motion events. I also remembering seeing the QC code of the motion sensor as not activated as soon as the first day even though I had yet to pull the battery tab. I'm not sure how the base unit knew the number. Anyway, I had to call customer service and they reset it and then it worked fine. They didn't even know how the QC code could show if the battery tab wasn't pulled or the QC code scanned. I would recommend you set up the base unit first then add the sensors by going to device setup to add the sensors then scan the QC code of the device and then pull the battery tab. The instructions say let the base station find them but that didn't work as well as adding the sensors separately. Also, little thing but I do find the keypad annoying since they failed to put some sort of bumper or pad on the bottom of the unit that prevents it from sliding across the table. You need to kinda hold the unit steady when entering the codes. This of course is not a problem if you are mounting it to a wall. Otherwise I am happy with the unit and will add more sensors in the near future.
