I was excited to get this package, but after installing everything it promos you to activate it and at that moment Ring notifies you that there’s a monthly fee, and you have 1 month to active, or you’re charges a penalty fee. Not impressed.

Install was quick and easy and we were soon set up with an alarm system in a "practice mode." However, given that this is my 4th home security system, one of which was a DIY (Frontpoint), & none have had a "practice mode" period, I would say that the practice mode is a CYA for Ring so that they do not have too many false alarms due to their shoddy system. The first time I tried to trigger the alarm, our code did not work when entered into the keypad - we had to use the app to disarm. Then 2 of the sensors fell off after the 1st & 2nd days due to the adhesive strips barely being "adhesive" strips. Then, the 3rd sensor that came with the system stopped working altogether & we had to bypass it to arm the system - not great as this sensor was on our main entry door. The instructions (if you can call them that - there are not many provided) were hard to find for troubleshooting & did not fix my sensor. So, I bought two add'l sensors to replace my brand new sensor (you can only buy in packs of two) and those two would not work. So I resorted to calling customer service. From their end, customer service finally got the (3rd)sensor to work but offered no explanation other than the system was new & still had a few "kinks"- not a confidence inspiring admission - FOR A HOME SECURITY SYSTEM!!!!!!! When you provide a, literally, life-saving device & service, it is unfathomable that you would not vet the device umpteen times prior to releasing it to the public. Oh & there was 0 sympathy or (GASP) offer of a refund for the two sensors that I had to buy to replace the brand new sensor that came with the system that I bought two days earlier!!!!! I'll give it another couple of days, but I have a feeling that we'll be returning this for Simplisafe as this system would barely pass Beta status in my opinion. The only positive thing is that although unsympathetic and lacking a proactive approach, the two customer service guys were nice & professional - when I could actually talk to them. Ring has some type of proprietary customer service call system within their app that does not work - the three times I tried to use it, they could hear me but I could not hear them. Oh & the app does work as designed in integrating the devices to the current Ring system, the big problem though - the devices don't work and are definitely not ready for primetime!!!!! Look elsewhere!!!!

      Hi WD39,

I am so sorry to hear about this poor and inconvenient Ring experience. This is by no means the experience that we intended for you to have. While I do see that you have been in communication with our Customer Support team, I would appreciate the chance to connect with you directly. I greatly appreciate all the time, money, and energy that you have invested into trying to get your Ring device to work for you and I would like to step in and ensure that your efforts are not wasted. With that being said, would you be so kind as to email me directly at [email protected]?
It is imperative to me that we get your Ring device and app both working consistently to your expectations as soon as possible.

I would appreciate your time as well as the chance to improve your Ring experience.

The Pros: The app in my opinion is better than the big name companies. When the alarm goes off, it is very loud. Very reasonable monthly dues. The Cons: the sensors go out fast. It only worked sometimes.

It was set up by Geek Squad and works ok. I don’t see the need for this since the Ring app controls everything. Hence, I don’t even use it to control the Ring device system.

This is a good little security system but I really wish it came with camera accessories. Over all I think it's good for apartments or small homes, but would want something more for larger homes.

Ring is a waste of money! I would have bought NEST if it wasn't for all the hacking issues. Ring only records 1 minute for plugged in cameras and 30 seconds for battery operated cameras. There is a delay in starting a new recording even if there is still activity. So be aware, if there is an ongoing event in front of your camera, it will stop recording at the preset interval and then it has to recognize a "new" activity to start recording again. I am never able to get a moderate or most of the time , ANY connection to cameras if I am away form my home. Streaming over phone data is a joke and usually doesn't work. Completely voids the whole reason for having the system. I could have gone to BJ's and bought a $300 8-camera DVR system and had better results. They have promised for 2 years they would be releasing 24/7 recording but that hasn't happened. Recognition software is horrible!! I get 50+ alerts a day for a shadow on my drive or a tree swaying across the street, but when a person comes to my house they are almost past the camera before it recognizes and activates. I would return if I could, but I can't. Too late

I purchased this system thinking I was getting a good system I could count on. The main issue is, if your internet goes down you have zero security. If you do trip the system, you can't hear the alarm at all. The motion cameras are constantly going off line, I am going to switch to a system that doesn't rely on wifi to work.

    Ring Alarm System

I had to write this review... It's pretty laughable reading the negative reviews about this alarm by ring! Yes this is there 1st alarm and yes there are things that can be improved by feedback from us the customers but to say this product SUCKS because of user errors is not really far to the company. Let me start with the CONS 1st. 1. I wish it was a way to adjust the speaker volume on the keypads. 2. I would've liked the contact sensors to be a lil smaller. 3.I also would welcome settings that would allow you to rename sensor to where they say what's happening at the location, like instead of a chime it would say Front Door, Garage Door, Sliding Door etc... 4. Also the only way to get notifications like what's happening at home is when the alarm is set in HOME or AWAY mode! It would be helpful to see notifications pushed to your device regardless of the alarm being set to HOME, AWAY, or Disarmed. Now for the PROS. 1-I will guarantee that you will NOT find another alarm company that will offer you monitoring & unlimited cameras added to your system for 10 DOLLARS a month! I’m absolutely certain you won’t! 2- Excellent Customer Service! I had an issue with my sensor not connecting and it was completely my fault! I call their customer service @ 12:30 on a Saturday night and was able to get assistance with repairing my sensor! 3- 24/7 Customer Service! Enough said! 4- By subscribing to their 10 dollar premium plan you get an extended warranty on your product. 5- The app and instructions are very intuitive and easy to follow. Also there’s a neighborhood community tap that allows you and your fellow ring doorbell & alarm buddies post different events that’s happening in you neighborhood. One more just by referring a friend to download the app and setting up a free ring account you and that person get 10 Buck!!! 6- Who doesn’t love free money! So that’s my review so far of the ring alarm system, is it perfect No, is it the best system on the market No, but for the overall value, the Exceptional Customer Service, & the Industry leading value you get for 10 dollars a month, this system will thrive in the DYI market!
