Ring Battery Doorbell w/2K Wide Angle & 6x Zoom
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I just received my new Ring Battery Doorbell about a week ago and have been testing it out and comparing it to my older Rind camera. We had another Ring camera at our front door and had been wanting to install another camera at our back door, so this Ring doorbell camera came along at the perfect time. Over the years we have tested and tried several top-leading brand names for video doorbell cameras and the like, but Ring had us sold. After using the other Ring camera for several months and absolutely loving it, we were excited to try out this Ring Battery Doorbell. Unboxing Includes: * Ring Battery Doorbell * Installation Toolkit * Window Decal Sticker * User Documentation To get started, simply download the Ring app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android devices. Next if you don’t already have a Ring account, you will need to create an account and follow along with the instructions. Even though this is a battery-powered doorbell, you can actually hardwire it to your doorbell line. For our purpose we will be installing this at the backdoor. If you’re doing a hardwire install of this doorbell camera, be careful and make sure you know which line at the breaker box the doorbell is connected to. Turn that switch off at the breaker box and follow along with Ring’s in-app installation process which is super simple. Once I got everything installed and turned the power back on, I waited for the camera to properly boot up and get connected to the home network. This doorbell camera has some amazing features, such as Motion Detection, Retinal Vision 2K with wide-angle video and up to 6x Enhanced Zoom, and 2-way audio; which is amazing. You can clearly hear those on the other side of your door no matter whether you're away from home or not. That lets would-be intruders know that you’re watching them. As far as video, the quality of the 2k as well as the wide-angled field of view tops our other more expensive Ring doorbell camera. The older (and more expensive) Ring doorbell camera is nice, but doesn’t have the wide-angle view like this newer model. We’re very happy and pleased with this choice and you will be too.

Excellent video quality and easy setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this Ring Battery Doorbell because I've had a great experience with the Ring ecosystem over the years. My home already has multiple Ring devices, including floodlight cameras, spotlight cameras, indoor cameras, and older Ring doorbells. I wanted to see whether the newest model offered meaningful improvements over my first generation Ring doorbell, especially in video quality and ease of use. The biggest upgrade is definitely the camera video quality and design. The 2K video is noticeably sharper, and the wide-angle view captures much more of the area around the front door. The head to toe view is especially useful for seeing visitors and packages left at the doorstep. The enhanced zoom is another nice addition, allowing you to identify details much more clearly than older models. Daytime and nighttime footage both look excellent, with crisp images and good overall clarity. The speckled gray color looks modern and blends nicely with most exterior finishes. It has a clean, premium appearance and doesn't stand out in an obvious way on the front of the house. Installation was straightforward. Mounting the backplate to a wooden door frame took only a few minutes, and the Ring app guided me through setup without any issues. Configuring motion zones, notification preferences, and device settings was simple and user-friendly. I was particularly impressed by how easy the setup process would be for someone who isn't very tech savvy. The built-in battery design is both a positive and a negative. On the plus side, removing the doorbell for charging is very easy using the included tool, and charging through USB C is convenient. However, unlike some older Ring models with removable batteries, you must remove the entire doorbell when it needs charging. That may be inconvenient for users who prefer swapping in a fully charged spare battery. There is another model Ring Plus that does that and comes with few additional features. Build quality feels solid and durable overall. The device feels well made, and the motion detection, alerts, two way audio, and live view features all work reliably. The integration with other ring devices and alexa products is seamless if you're already invested in the ecosystem. One thing worth noting is security. While older Ring doorbells could also be removed, this newer design can be detached very quickly if someone has the proper removal tool or with flat screwdriver. This likely won't be an issue for most users, but it's something to be aware of depending on your installation location. Overall, this is an excellent upgrade for existing Ring users and a strong option for anyone looking for a battery-powered video doorbell with outstanding image quality and easy setup. The improved video clarity, wider field of view, and simple installation make it a great value. The only drawbacks are the non-removable battery design and the ease with which the unit can be detached for charging. Even with those limitations, I would highly recommend it for its performance, reliability, and overall user experience.

You Can't Go Wrong with a Ring Doorbell Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring Doorbell cameras have been the standard door security and awareness solution for a number of years now. With the growth of DIY wifi home security offerings, you have more choices today than ever. Thankfully, Ring continues to upgrade their products - and add additional features and solutions. This newest model provides the standard, basic features expected from Ring with a few improvements. Set up was easy. We already have a Ring Camera account so it was simple and straightforward adding it to our account. The camera is clear - similar to earlier versions - but it seems to have a slightly improved wide-angel view. A key feature with this newest model is the fact that it’s battery operated and easy to recharge using USB-C. Power was at 89% after 5 days. Audio for listening in general - and for conversations with people at our doorstep is generally the same, though it does seem to be improved for the person talking at the door. Another nice adjustment is the fact that this model is narrower than our previous model, which makes it suitable for thinner doorframes. All-in-all, you can’t go wrong with a Ring Doorbell Camera.

Great for Security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently replaced our standard wired doorbell with the Ring Battery Doorbell (Newest Model) in Speckled Grey, and it has been an excellent upgrade for our rural Texas home. The Retinal 2K video quality is outstanding, providing a crystal-clear image day and night. The wide-angle view allows us to see our entire front porch and driveway area, which is especially helpful since deliveries and visitors can approach from different directions. The up to 6x Zoom feature makes it easy to identify vehicles, packages, and guests from a distance. Installation was straightforward and much easier than expected. Since we live in a rural setting, reliability and coverage are important, and this doorbell has performed flawlessly. The built-in battery holds a charge well, and we appreciate not having to worry about complicated wiring. The Two-Way Talk feature is clear and responsive, allowing us to communicate with delivery drivers and visitors even when we’re away from home. Notifications arrive quickly on our phones, giving us added peace of mind when we’re traveling or working outdoors on our property. The Speckled Grey finish looks modern and attractive, blending nicely with our home’s exterior. Overall, this Ring doorbell has improved both the security and convenience of our home. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality video doorbell, especially those living in a rural area where visibility and dependable monitoring are essential.

Gold Standard Doorbell Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring is pretty much the gold standard of doorbells at this point and this version builds on all the old great features. First it’s super easy to setup using the ring app on your phone just scanning the QR code, the doorbell itself talks to you the entire time giving a play by play of what it’s doing to setup. Even though this is the battery doorbell you can also apparently hard wire it, though I use it as battery this is pretty cool to have the option. Since I use it as battery mode you basically just have to charge it every so often (usb C I used my phone charger) and the rating is over 3 months of use between charges. You can always check battery status in the app. When you need to charge you use a special tool to pop it off a mounting plate which it securely locks to. The whole retinal tuning and abilities in this camera are basically what sets it apart from the old model with the whole 6x digital zoom you can actually see details in stuff now which is super nice for those 3am sketchy package deliveries or creepers you normally could barely make out their face you can now see fully. Not that you couldnt before but it reminds me that I really enjoy the ai description of a recorded video to read what went on before actually seeing it. This does come with a trial and without the sub you can still access live view, real time notifications and arm/disarm features you essentially lose the optional stuff and recordings without but its so good your going to want to always be subbed anyway.

Ring continues to impress me with their lineup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have their Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) Retinal 2K at my front door and got this one to add to my back deck. I also have a wireless chime that I have in my man cave area so that I can hear the doorbell when I'm not on the main floor. I also have a floodlight that I have yet to install, but that will also go in my backyard on the deck. The Ring product lineup continues to evolve and improve from their earlier offerings. They definitely make some quality products with a lot of features. This doorbell couldn't have been easier to setup. Since I already had existing products on my network, I was able to get up and running in minutes. I was surprised that I didn't have to connect to my network first to set it up. It connected to my wireless chime, and I guess it ported the info over automatically or just uses the chime for its wireless connection. I completely charged the doorbell and mounted it by my back door. It's recommended that it be mounted four feet from the ground, which will allow me to see packages left on the ground and the full silhouette of anyone in the back. Since it faces my neighbor's house, I like that I can set up zones to prevent a lot of notifications and drain the battery. The images are extremely clear and provide great detail in such a slim package. The plans can end up adding a few dollars to the setup. Well, maybe more than a few. The Solo plan that I was using is $50 per year. That seems a bit high for one device. If you have multiple devices, the cost doubles to $100 annually, but you can add as many devices as you want at one location. That seems to be the better deal if you are heavy into Ring devices. The Ring Pro service was provided for a 30-day trial period and while I like the service, it adds an additional $200 per year on top of the $100 for Ring Multi. That's pretty steep in my opinion, so when the trial runs out, I will let it lapse. The only thing I would have preferred is that the battery was removable and I could have a backup charging while one was in use. This way I wouldn't have to be without coverage for the back door while it recharges. I looked it up and it is said that it will take between 5-10 hours to recharge, so that is a good amount of time to not have it in use. It is pretty simple to remove with the included tool. I also wish that the chime could have different ring tones for each doorbell. I didn't see a way to do that in the app, so there may be a way to set that up. I also have the older generation chime, so maybe the newer model has that option. Overall, I am really impressed with the doorbell as I have been with all of Ring's products. This is a great addition to my smart home setup.

Great choice for a replacement.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So a little over a week ago I ended up choosing to go with the Ring Battery doorbell after an issue I had with my old Nest doorbell. I mistakenly lost the removal key decided to take it as an opportunity to try something new. Right off the bat, I appreciated that this model is completely battery operated. I didn't feel like messing with wiring, so being able to mount, charge it, And get it online in a matter of minutes was a plus for me. The setup process through the Ring app was pretty simple. It walks you through everything step by step, from connecting the Wi-fi to adjusting motion zones and notification settings. The app itself feels polished and easy to navigate and I like being able to pull up a live view or check on the activity from in front of my house from anywhere. What really stood out though was the image quality. The Retinal Vision 2K camera is sharp. I was Impressed by how much detail it captured especially because I initially sought out a 4K camera. Your faces are easy to make out, packages are clearly visible, and the wider field of view lets me see more of my front porch than I expected. Motion alerts have been quick and reliable so far and the two way talk feature has been cleared during conversations with FedEx and UPS. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was that some features required a ring subscription and I'm still trying to figure out how to connect to my Google Home (ioT). That said my first impression has been a positive one. Some ways it's actually an upgrade. I'll just be sure not lose the key this time. 4.25/5

It just keeps getting better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Specs The battery-powered version of the newest Ring doorbell has 2k video resolution with a viewing area of 140 degrees. It is compatible with the Ring app, can record audio as well as video, and works by motion detection. It connects wirelessly to your existing internet connection and offers two-way audio through the app. There is an optional subscription service but it is not required, nor is it included. Pros The resolution and viewing angles keep rising with each model! The night vision is solid as well. This battery-powered version comes with a USB-C rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which is easier for me than getting a wired model. This model works with both Android and iOS systems and is compatible with Ring and Amazon Alexa. Cons This is simply because I live in a place where it regularly gets below -5 degrees F, but that is the minimum operating temperature for the unit. The maximum temperature is 122 degrees F, which might become a problem with direct sunlight. It also takes 5-10 hours to charge the battery fully, but I have seen recommendations for small solar panels to keep from charging this model. I think I would like to look into that to have that 24/7 security at my door. Conclusion Although it takes some time to charge, I feel safer having the surveillance at my door; I have lived in too many crummy apartments where my packages have been stolen. I would recommend this model to anyone who does not have the ability to hard wire a model into their existing electrical system, as that seems to be the only drawback – the battery life and time to charge fully.

Good video quality..
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two other video doorbells that I use, and this one is pretty good. The hardware on this one doesn't feel as premium has my current one, but it we shall see how it holds up over time. I've been using the same one I have for over 6 years, and it's in decent shape still. The button is nice and has good travel and feedback. The light is nice and bright, and looks good. I'd actually prefer a solid color for the doorbell, but this look cool still. Setup: Well, it's based on an app. So make sure you have a smart device to use, makes life easy. I have a battery and a hardwire currently, but battery is the way to go. Makes things so much easier, and better over time. If you have an electrical issue, it won't take out your doorbell camera. Video quality: Well, it's good. Nothing to run home and tell your mom, but for SURE is solid for what it needs to be used for. In the end, using more of their products, makes this one seem a lot better. I have two of their other cameras, and this completes the system.

Easy to Install Inexpensive Video Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 2nd Generation Ring Battery Doorbell (newest model) is an inexpensive battery powered doorbell with basic smart doorbell features. Installation is extremely easy. Just charge the battery, download the Ring app, and follow the instructions. Mounting can be accomplished with the included screws or with heavy duty dual sided tape. The doorbell is somewhat thick and heavy so care must be exercised to ensure that it is adequately attached. Although the battery is rechargeable, it is not removeable and doorbell must be removed from the mount and charged with a micro usb cable periodically. An alternative is to hardwire the doorbell. The doorbell has Retinal 2K and wide angle video with up to 6x zoom. Two way talk is included. Although the Ring and the associated app are useful out of the box, more features are available with a Ring Protect subscription. This includes alerts like person and package detection and cloud video storage. If you are looking for a low cost, reliable video doorbell and app with easy installation and flexible power options, the Ring Video Doorbell 2nd Gen is an excellent choice.
