Posted .Hi Mike.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.
There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.
To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.
To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".
As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.
When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
We recommend using the Ring Solar Charger or the Ring Plug-In Adapter to assist with extending the life of the battery in your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. The Ring Solar Charger for Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is a solar power source that can be mounted behind your Ring doorbell. The Ring Plug-in Adapter (2nd Generation) is designed to convert battery-powered video doorbells so they can run using line current.

Worthless!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely hate these cameras!! I have this one and a stick up camera in my house and both are completely worthless!! What is the point in having the option to see a live view of the camera if it takes 10 minutes to load?!? And both carmeras are within 10 feet of my router, i have excellent internet connection, and everything else in my house that uses wifi is working just fine! Ive had both cameras for about a year and a half and ive had issues with them the whole time!! When i need to see the live view i need to see it right now, not in 10 minutes when whoever is at my door has already left!! I would suggest going with a different brand of cameras, any orher brand except this junk!! DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP!!

Posted .Hi Ranger8745.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.
We understand how important it is to be able to connect to live view quickly. Live View is an important feature that gives you peace of mind by allowing you to see who is on your property at any given time. We are eager to provide you with a solution for the connectivity concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you have some concerns with connecting to live view on your device. Internet speed, in the context of your Ring devices, is the measure of how fast your wireless network uploads and downloads data. If either or both of those functions are too slow, your Ring app won't be able to process data from your Ring devices fast enough. That's why it's important to test your internet speed in the area around your Ring device.
To test your internet speed, do the following:
Bring your mobile device to the area where your Ring device is installed.
Open a Web browser on your mobile device and go to Bandwidth Place.
Click on the Begin Test button in the center of the gauge to start the test.
After the test is done, look at the small table under the gauge. The number in the first column is the download speed. The number in the second column is the upload speed.
As a general rule, most Ring devices function best when upload and download speeds are around 2 Mbps or greater. If your speeds are much slower than that, you might try moving your router closer to your Ring device or (if necessary) calling your internet service provider to discuss getting faster internet speeds.

unreliable, loses network, fails to reconnect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Garbage. This thing falls off the network and is super unreliable. I wanted to like it. I have been trying to connect it back to the network for about four hours now. The error message literally says, "Hmm. Something went wrong. Sometimes, devices just don't want to connect to the Internet. To solve this, tap Try Again. If that doesn't work, try restarting your Wi-Fi router. If this continues, you may need to change settings on your router or modem." --all of this I have tried. I have been at it four hours. GARBAGE.

Posted .Hi Jason. I can understand how this can be difficult to deal with. There are a few factors can contribute to this. First, make sure there isn't an active VPN on your phone or WiFi network. Next, make sure you are using the correct WiFi channels (https://bit.ly/3QriAAg). If you have any further questions or concerns, try browsing the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/.
