After the free monthly subscription ended, it was a big waste of money. First, let me start by saying that the camera is amazing. It busy captures at high quality and the night mode works fantastic. The camera functions as it should with alerts and notifications perfectly fine. The neighborhood alerts are my favorite thing because you have eyes she ears everywhere! However, once my monthly membership trial ended... he camera became almost useless. It suddenly stopped connecting to my wifi and because I'm not paying for the monthly subscription, I cannot access previous recorded clips. These two things are essential to having the Ring Camera and without either, there's no point of having it. I'm worried that that the Developers purposely make the camera not function as it should without paying the monthly subscription. I understand having to pay for the storage in order access recording... but it's it really necessary to have to pay monthly for it to save and veiw? Why not make the camera cheaper so the monthly subscription can be affordable and why does the camera become flawed with wifi connection if there's no monthly subscription? It's a shame... moral of the story, don't buy this product unless you are prepared to buy the monthly subscription. Otherwise, its a good camera.

Being able to save, download, and review footage captured by your is a valuable feature of the Ring Protect Plan. We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the functionality of the device. While subscribed to one of our Ring Protect Plans, you will have access to videos of every motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone and have access to the live view feature.

Great deal for basic needs without subscription

There is a subscription required for some additional features. Definitely check Amazon's website for more information on that. Great deal for the basic needs. I did buy an spare battery so I could rotate between them. I recommended that since you're changing the battery about everything 3 weeks.

I bought this as a gift for someone and installed it yesterday. I am very impressed with the image and sound quality as well as the ease of installation. The doorbell camera seems to be very robustly built as well. I like it better than my own Arlo system so far.

One is connected to solar and other to wired doorbell ,location. It works great with Alexa. Will be adding camera battery pro soon.
