The camera lens is wider giving a better view and it can detect the difference between vehicle motion and people motion.

I bought this as a gift for someone and installed it yesterday. I am very impressed with the image and sound quality as well as the ease of installation. The doorbell camera seems to be very robustly built as well. I like it better than my own Arlo system so far.

Good... but not functional.

After the free monthly subscription ended, it was a big waste of money. First, let me start by saying that the camera is amazing. It busy captures at high quality and the night mode works fantastic. The camera functions as it should with alerts and notifications perfectly fine. The neighborhood alerts are my favorite thing because you have eyes she ears everywhere! However, once my monthly membership trial ended... he camera became almost useless. It suddenly stopped connecting to my wifi and because I'm not paying for the monthly subscription, I cannot access previous recorded clips. These two things are essential to having the Ring Camera and without either, there's no point of having it. I'm worried that that the Developers purposely make the camera not function as it should without paying the monthly subscription. I understand having to pay for the storage in order access recording... but it's it really necessary to have to pay monthly for it to save and veiw? Why not make the camera cheaper so the monthly subscription can be affordable and why does the camera become flawed with wifi connection if there's no monthly subscription? It's a shame... moral of the story, don't buy this product unless you are prepared to buy the monthly subscription. Otherwise, its a good camera.

While subscribed to one of our Ring Protect Plans, you will have access to videos of every motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone and have access to the live view feature.

A must if not a fire proof door in our case only.

I only could not mount it as fire steel lined burn proof door could not be drilled or damaged by installer due to insurance and contract agreement.

It sounds like your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus is not performing as expected. We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring Battery Doorbell Plus functioning as intended. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Notification delays are often related to wifi connection or mobile device variables. A delay of under six seconds is expected due to signal fluctuation. To learn more about your device's signal strength, follow these steps:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the menu (☰).
Tap Devices.
Select the Ring device you would like to test.
Tap on the Device Health tile.
Scroll to Signal Strength under the Network section.
The green, amber, and red colors are indicators of your device connection. Green is good; red is poor.

Learning curve

Learning how to use the door bell. Thank god for geek squad and return program.
