We believe in keeping people close to what’s important. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. We understand the importance of having all relevant product information prior to purchasing. The Ring Protect Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.
It sounds like there was some confusion regarding the optional Ring Protect Plan. With a Ring Protect Plan, you can save, review, and share video recordings from your Ring devices to your Ring account. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Posted .Hi Deafboy21.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us. We are pleased to read that you are enjoying your new Ring Battery Doorbell Pro! At Ring, every device and service we make is designed to help give Neighbors peace of mind inside, protection outside, and a connection to what’s happening in the neighborhood.
Ring devices require high-speed internet to bring you crisp, clear video and audio. Poor network connectivity can affect the performance of your Ring device and the video quality when using the "Live View" feature. We are happy to share some troubleshooting steps to help you diagnose and fix common video issues that you may experience with Ring doorbells and cameras.
Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable.
Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI. Turn off your mobile device's cellular data and connect to the same wifi network as your Ring device. Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap “Devices.” Select your device. Trigger an event on your Ring device. This could mean pressing the button on a doorbell or activating the motion sensors on a camera. Answer the event and examine the resulting video.
We have listed some possible outcomes from this test here:
1. The footage is crisp and clear.
If your video appears good when next to the router, the issue may be caused by a disruption in between your router and your Ring device’s normal location. To fix this, try moving your device closer to the router or extending your wifi signal with a wifi extender like the Ring Chime Pro.
2. The footage is heavily pixelated.
If you’re seeing heavy pixilation, even next to the router, this may be due to slow wifi speeds.
Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences with Ring. We invite you to reach out to our community if any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro.

It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

Posted .Hi DianaS.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand how important it is for your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro to function consistently and reliably, so you are alerted to any wanted or unwanted activity in or around your home. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home, as well as, ensures your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro 's video quality is performing as intended. We are here to provide you with some information to resolve the issue you mentioned in your review.
It sounds like you are experiencing issues with the device in regards to connection and battery life. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance.
As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring doorbells and security cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:
36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.
When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.
If your networking equipment hasn’t been power-cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.
If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Battery Doorbell Pro, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

It sounds like the video quality is not what you were expecting from your device. The Ring Battery Doorbell Pro offers head-to-toe HD video in 1536p with HDR. Below are a few potential causes of video quality issues you may experience.
Overexposed, washed-out videos: Washed-out videos may be due to overexposure to sunlight.
Poor wifi signal strength: A decline in wifi signal strength may be caused by a weak connection between the router and your Ring device.
Traveling signal strength: This may be due to a wifi dead zone in your home where you lose signal strength between the router and your Ring device.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.
To determine whether the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance.
A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.
We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. The Ring Chime Pro simply plugs into a wall outlet between your router and the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro to assist with the wifi signal strength to the device.

The Best Video Doorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having access to a doorbell that you don’t have to have an electrician install is one of the key factors for choosing this door bell. We just moved into a house that has a wired doorbell but it is buried in the wall and would cost a lot to install the wired version of the ring. This Ring fits our needs. It is perfect for mounting anywhere we want, being battery powered, and are not forced to place it in the old doorbell location. (Which would not offer any clear videos of the front of our house. I found the best location for video and still be accessible for those that can use our wired doorbell or the ring. The app that comes with the ring is one of the better and far more user friendly ones that I have come across. I have our set to sensitive and was able to choose the area that activates the camera. I love that the app basically lets you tweak out the setting for about anyone’s needs. If you have a need for a certain setting it is in the app!! It allows me to see the whole body of the individual on our door step, coming and going. As well as package drops, late night walkers like our neighbor Javelinas. The resolution is very good, perfect for our needs. It is nice that the ring will store up to 180 days’ worth of video with the ring plan. They offer multiple plans. I intend on purchasing a few more outdoor cameras and adding them to my plan to ensure I have my whole property covered. I will use the solar powered cameras, so no wiring is needed. Setting up couldn’t have been easier. You download the app, create an account….Everything you need to install the Ring is in the box. Including the security screw/screwdriver for access to the battery Should you need to add a little angle to you Ring, a plastic wedge is included for that. The internal battery is good for about four to six weeks with my settings and busy activity on my street. With less camera use or activity this will only lengthen the time in between your charges.. Should you not want to worry about charging the battery a solar add on option is available and fits around the base of the ring. Making charging the battery a thing of the past. I am very happy with everything and would recommend this to family and friends.

Birds Eye is so cool
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never heard of the Pro edition and was glad to have picked this up. I live in a Townhome complex that does not have gated entry, so home protection is very high in my priorities. I have an older Ring device that has some very good success in identifying people at our door and maintaining that vigilance. The Ring Battery Doorbell Pro really escalates so many newer features that I am so thankful for. Firstly, the camera quality on this is very good. At 1536p with head-to-toe HD+ Video recording, I have a very nice and expanded view of those in front of my door. Because of this, I have a better field of view and comfort that no one is there to steal our packages or doing other nefarious things. This Bird's Eye Zone is a really nice feature as well. It gives you a 3D motion detection of those entering into that zone, and you can see from above in a "birds eye" view. The map has been very accurate regarding the placement of the Ring and those who are within view. You can also trace where they were in relation to your home. The battery removal is so much easier for me. It can be accessed with moving the silver lower half and retrieving the battery. Now, it charges via micro-usb cable which I felt they should have upgraded to a usb-c cable. So it takes longer for it to charge. Out of the box, it was at 47% and I was charging it for nearly 3 hours and it only went to 67%. Alexa connection is a great addition to this. Alexa is easily compatible with this and allows you to utilize it with your Echo device. I find that to be so convenient for our lifestyle, as we can fully hear what is going on outside thanks to these connected devices. The live-view and two-way talk is more clearer than my previous device. Overall, this is a great enhancement to our home security and a must have for our needs. Very happy with this new Pro edition.

Good but big in price and size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have several security cameras for another manufacturer, so I’m familiar with their functions and monitoring. I did not have a doorbell cam, so I decided to give the Ring Doorbell Pro a try. One thing that appealed to me was that it can operate on its internal battery or wired. You need to charge the battery first which takes several hours, so do that first. Once that’s done the installation was easy and straight forward. Two different size sets of screws and nylon inserts are provided. They include a spare in each size and a spare for the small screw that holds the battery. The battery screw is quite small and a bit fiddly. Since you must remove it to pull the battery for charging, it’s good to have a spare. The Ring app is used to set up everything. It requires a Ring account as the first step. A QR code is scanned to identify the unit, after which the app guides you through the process of setting up WIF, connecting to Alexa if desired, and so on. If you want an inside chime, you’ll need to buy that separately. The default is to have it ring and notify through your phone and/or Echo devices. Since I nearly always have my phone, that was a good choice. Setting up the Ring skill with Alexa was a bit trial and error, but I eventually got it working. To add another user (phone), you send an email invitation. That user sets up a Ring account after which they can be added. For those having other Ring security devices, this is probably simple, but I found it somewhat time consuming to get everything working. Once this is completed, it does its thing quite well. You’re notified when it sees someone on your porch, and the chime rings on your phone when the button is pressed. The video is wide angle, quite clear, and the audio easy to understand. There is a new feature with the PRO doorbell, and that’s Birdseye view and tracking. This I found this lacking since the overhead imported satellite view was too fuzzy and low rez to be of use. Google Maps gives better satellite images, but Amazon owns Ring, and chose another source. Unlike my other security cameras, Ring requires you to subscribe to their monitoring service or the features are severely limited. There is no built-in memory or ability to save video locally, so to do anything but observe in real time, you must subscribe. The fee is $5 per month or $50 per year for one device. For $10/100 you can have all the Ring devices you wish, or for $20/200 you can add 24/7 remote professional monitoring. You get a 30-day trial subscription with your purchase. The quality is great both in build and video. This is one of the most expensive doorbell cams available plus you must pay a monthly fee to have any usability. Is it worth extra for the radar/Birdseye feature? Not in my case. There are lots of options out there, and there’s a big advantage in having all your security devices in one eco-system. In my mind, that’s how to make the decision.

Excellent Upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am replacing an original version Ring with this new Ring Battery Doorbell Pro. The original still works and will be relocated, but this new version is a big upgrade. On the outside, they really don't look much different. I guess that's a good thing seeing as the original looked fine. However this new version is lighter weight. Set up is very easy. Download the Ring app and scan the barcode under the removable silver battery cover. The app will walk you thru the set up and do any needed software updates. Getting it connected will take you less time than mounting it to the wall. Connection with our wi-fi has been solid. The most notable upgrade is the video quality and the sensitivity to motion. The motion sensing is much more accurate. The video quality is great with 1536p HD. The color night vision is nice as well. There is no shortage of ringtones to choose from. There are a ton of options within the app to configure your notifications just the way you want. It can be set as simple as just a doorbell, or an all around motion sensing security system that can notify you all the time. So far battery life has been great but in time I will use the hard wire option for power. Being in Minnesota the cold tends to keep outdoor battery devices from lasting very long. No matter if you are upgrading from a previous version like I am, or a first time Ring user, I can highly recommend the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro.

Works when it feels like it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to like this doorbell but so far I’m not super impressed. I’m a new Ring customer so I had to set up an account, that took longer than setting up the doorbell. Once in the app, the doorbell itself setup up super fast. This says battery doorbell but we hardwired it so it’d ring on our home chime. When hardwired its provides a trickle charge to the battery. This has so many features & settings, I’m still learning some of them, you can customize your tones, get neighbor alerts , two way microphone & the video is clear & the range can be set which is also fairly decent. You can switch from a birds eye view which shows an aerial view of our whole house or just doorbell view & it is a head to toe image. History & events are stored but you definitely need a subscription for all these services or it’s basically just a doorbell. Subscription is free for 30 days if you’re a new customer. I have yet to have it detect a package no matter how sensitive I make the settings. Sometimes it records all motion & other times you can walk by it multiple times & nothing. I called support to figure out what’s going on & after an hour still couldn’t figure it out. I’m waiting to hear from a higher support team to see if it’s defective. The doorbell is fairly large & honestly for the price, I don’t think it’s worth it. I have another doorbell that works just as well, without all the bells & whistles & was a fraction of the price. I’ll give it 4 stars because of some of the features & quality but hopefully there’s firmware updates or mine is really defective..

We are happy to provide you with more information regarding the motion detection concern that you mentioned in your review.

Simple Set-Up, Great Addition!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a fourth floor resident in a walk-up apartment complex, I've never been too concerned about "porch pirates", but my upcoming move has me thinking more about security... enter the opportunity to try out the Ring - Battery Doorbell Pro Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell. While I don't yet have it hooked up in its final location: - setup was super easy; it came charged and ready to go! One quick QR scan and the account setup and pairing process began and was completed very seamlessly and quickly - the features are also very simple to setup and use: motion activated or not, level of motion sensitivity, different zones of motion detection (e.g. ignore the cats that come at night, but pay attention to the humans), length of videos to save, how it will be mounted on the door, etc. - testing the notifications and live interactions haven't been done in real life yet, but it did provide some fun "game-cam" examples where my pets set off the motion detection and I could then speak to them/freak them out greatly!! Looking forward to getting it set up in its new home shortly!

Amazing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My front doorbell for several years has been the original wired ring Pro. It still works great. My son highly recommended it to me. After mine was installed, my next-door neighbor asked about it. I, of course, recommended it to him, and he got one. This speaks well for ring! Now, ring has come out with a new battery-operated Pro. Having the opportunity to evaluate it, I jumped on it. The original Pro is great; however, this new model is amazing! Because I already have the ring app, an indoor chime, and a connection to Alexa, setup was very quick and easy. The only time-consuming part is giving the battery as full charge. After installing the charged battery, the time taken to be fully set up was less than 5 minutes. All that is left to do is mount it wherever you choose to place it. My original Pro’s monitoring covered a very acceptable door approach area. The new Pro’s area and sharpness of view is totally amazing. It’s so much so it’s a little spooky. I say that because the Pro was set up and had not yet been mounted outside. It was lying on the kitchen island facing upward. Alexa keeps telling me someone has been detected, and I knew no one was there. So, I looked in the app to see what had been recorded. Lo and behold, it was me. The camera is facing upward and spotting me moving around horizontally to it. ring calls it 3D Motion Detection, and I call it amazing! The video quality 1536 HD+ is amazing! Whether viewing on my living room Echo Show, on my TV, or in the app, the image is crisp, color is sharp, and the view is wide day or night. Also, audio is very clear. Camera functions include a snapshot ability. Amongst the various camera filter settings is a Package alert option. I have used the word “amazing” a lot in this review, and that is because the new ring Battery Doorbell is amazing in every way. As much as I love my original Pro, this new Pro has taken doorbell cams to an amazing new level. Do I recommend it? Definitely!

First doorbell cam and love it
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used Ring cameras and the alarm system for years, but this is my first doorbell camera. Overall I'm pretty happy with the Pro 2 experience. *** INSTALLATION *** This is replaced a standard wired doorbell. The basic installation is simple enough and the Pro 2 powered up fine -- but failed to properly ring my existing (non-Ring) chime. Didn't take long to discover my old wired system was 10v and not the required 16v for the Pro 2. I've lived in this house for over 20 years (didn't install the old doorbell) and though my old-school doorbell chime claims it also requires 16v, apparently it didn't. Nonetheless, replacing the old 10v doorbell transformer with a new 16v transformer was a piece of cake (but another $30 expense and a trip to Home Depot). Save yourself some trouble and (unlike me) actually verify that you have a 16v-24v wired system ahead of time. *** RING SETUP *** After installation, the setup was an easy 10-minute job. It probably helps that I have years of experience with the Ring system itself and the cameras setups, but it's all pretty simple if you just follow the prompts. *** PERFORMANCE *** With minor tweaks to the settings, the motion detection has been flawless. The system correctly alerts and records motion, and so far I have not experienced any false or missed detections. The "package delivery" feature is really cool and has worked exactly as promised. The camera range of field is exceptional for a doorbell installation - actually a much wider range than I was expecting. Video quality is very good. I'd say it's a bit better than the Ring Stick-Up Camera quality. Close-up (e.g. someone within 10 feet of the doorbell) is very good. The quality drops fairly quickly beyond 25 feet or so. Seems reasonable for a doorbell camera. Overall I’m very impressed with this doorbell cam

Another solid camera from Ring.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, Ring has done it again. Once again they made a very simple, easy to use and install video doorbell that just about anyone can install and use! It looks pretty much the same as every other Ring doorbell. Installation is a breeze. Out of the box you have everything you need to get your doorbell up and running including mounting hardware, screws, wire extenders, and window stickers. Even though this is a battery version, you are still able to wire it into your existing doorbell if you choose to do so (although you don’t have to). You can also just put it up and recharge through USB as needed if you don’t have, or don’t want to use your existing doorbells wiring. That is a little more involved to get the battery out to charge, so I chose to use the existing wires. Connecting to the app is a breeze, and you will literally be up and running in a couple minutes. In the app you can do things like view live video, do the 2-way talking (which works fairly well), you can also see your timeline of events that you can easily scroll through. If you have used the Ring app before, you’ll feel right at home. You can change all the settings in there as well such as the motion sensitivity, turning alerts on and off, linking to an existing ring chime, and more. Now lets get to the video quality. A lot of people think that because it’s a battery device that the video will suffer because its trying to conserve as much battery as possible. I didn’t really find that to be the case. The lens does pretty much a full head to toe video (depending on mounting position). It does 150 degree vertical and horizontal. It also has the birds eye view which is kind of a gimmick, I don’t really see any reason you’d ever need or want to use that. It basically just uses a overhead google map of your house to show where the motion is on your property. But you can just see that in the video. I found that both day and night time video you would be able to make out faces and details of people approaching your house. If you have a very dark porch, people might not be able to see the doorbell though which can be a good or bad thing. Usually if motion is detected, the ring around the doorbell button would light up, but I don’t see a way to make that happen. So, people who want to ring your doorbell at night might have a problem finding it if you don’t have a porch light on. The notifications were pretty quick. I tested ringing as well as package detection and they both worked perfectly and I had a notification within a second or two. Overall, it’s a very solid, and easy to install doorbell camera. In this day and age there is no reason not to have one of these. Definitely check them out if you are in the marked for a doorbell camera, it’s a very solid option. One final note, in order to use most of the features you will need to pay a monthly subscription fee, but it can be used for live view and get a basic notification without a paid subscription.
