      Hi PaulB.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We understand the importance of having a consistent wifi signal on the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro. Having a solid connection ensures you do not miss any activity around your home. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like you experienced some connection issues with the device. Usually, devices falling offline repeatedly is related to poor wifi connectivity caused by signal fluctuations, channel congestion, or data loss.

To determine whether the problem is caused by poor upload speed, run a speed test to determine if your network can support Ring devices. In addition to ensuring that you have sufficient wifi speeds, you will also want to check the signal strength of your device. Ring devices with 1080p video require at least 1 Mbps upload and download speeds, though 2 Mbps is recommended for optimal performance.

A poor wifi signal can cause connectivity with your Ring device to be unreliable. Check the Device Health section of your Ring application to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. The recommended range for optimal performance is 0 to -60 for the RSSI.

If your networking equipment hasn’t been power cycled in a while, try unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Wireless networks utilize different channels for communication. In the United States, the 2.4 GHz band uses channels 1-11 and the 5 GHz band uses channels 36-165. In some cases, setting up your Ring device(s) can fail due to wireless interference or congestion.

We also recommend adding a Ring Chime Pro to your network. The Ring Chime Pro simply plugs into a wall outlet between your router and the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro to assist with the wifi signal strength to the device.

If you still have the Ring Battery Doorbell Pro in your possession, we invite you to reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their personal feedback and experiences with Ring. We look forward to hearing from you. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

As a fourth floor resident in a walk-up apartment complex, I've never been too concerned about "porch pirates", but my upcoming move has me thinking more about security... enter the opportunity to try out the Ring - Battery Doorbell Pro Smart Wi-Fi Video Doorbell. While I don't yet have it hooked up in its final location: - setup was super easy; it came charged and ready to go! One quick QR scan and the account setup and pairing process began and was completed very seamlessly and quickly - the features are also very simple to setup and use: motion activated or not, level of motion sensitivity, different zones of motion detection (e.g. ignore the cats that come at night, but pay attention to the humans), length of videos to save, how it will be mounted on the door, etc. - testing the notifications and live interactions haven't been done in real life yet, but it did provide some fun "game-cam" examples where my pets set off the motion detection and I could then speak to them/freak them out greatly!! Looking forward to getting it set up in its new home shortly!

Well, Ring has done it again. Once again they made a very simple, easy to use and install video doorbell that just about anyone can install and use! It looks pretty much the same as every other Ring doorbell. Installation is a breeze. Out of the box you have everything you need to get your doorbell up and running including mounting hardware, screws, wire extenders, and window stickers. Even though this is a battery version, you are still able to wire it into your existing doorbell if you choose to do so (although you don’t have to). You can also just put it up and recharge through USB as needed if you don’t have, or don’t want to use your existing doorbells wiring. That is a little more involved to get the battery out to charge, so I chose to use the existing wires. Connecting to the app is a breeze, and you will literally be up and running in a couple minutes. In the app you can do things like view live video, do the 2-way talking (which works fairly well), you can also see your timeline of events that you can easily scroll through. If you have used the Ring app before, you’ll feel right at home. You can change all the settings in there as well such as the motion sensitivity, turning alerts on and off, linking to an existing ring chime, and more. Now lets get to the video quality. A lot of people think that because it’s a battery device that the video will suffer because its trying to conserve as much battery as possible. I didn’t really find that to be the case. The lens does pretty much a full head to toe video (depending on mounting position). It does 150 degree vertical and horizontal. It also has the birds eye view which is kind of a gimmick, I don’t really see any reason you’d ever need or want to use that. It basically just uses a overhead google map of your house to show where the motion is on your property. But you can just see that in the video. I found that both day and night time video you would be able to make out faces and details of people approaching your house. If you have a very dark porch, people might not be able to see the doorbell though which can be a good or bad thing. Usually if motion is detected, the ring around the doorbell button would light up, but I don’t see a way to make that happen. So, people who want to ring your doorbell at night might have a problem finding it if you don’t have a porch light on. The notifications were pretty quick. I tested ringing as well as package detection and they both worked perfectly and I had a notification within a second or two. Overall, it’s a very solid, and easy to install doorbell camera. In this day and age there is no reason not to have one of these. Definitely check them out if you are in the marked for a doorbell camera, it’s a very solid option. One final note, in order to use most of the features you will need to pay a monthly subscription fee, but it can be used for live view and get a basic notification without a paid subscription.

My front doorbell for several years has been the original wired ring Pro. It still works great. My son highly recommended it to me. After mine was installed, my next-door neighbor asked about it. I, of course, recommended it to him, and he got one. This speaks well for ring! Now, ring has come out with a new battery-operated Pro. Having the opportunity to evaluate it, I jumped on it. The original Pro is great; however, this new model is amazing! Because I already have the ring app, an indoor chime, and a connection to Alexa, setup was very quick and easy. The only time-consuming part is giving the battery as full charge. After installing the charged battery, the time taken to be fully set up was less than 5 minutes. All that is left to do is mount it wherever you choose to place it. My original Pro’s monitoring covered a very acceptable door approach area. The new Pro’s area and sharpness of view is totally amazing. It’s so much so it’s a little spooky. I say that because the Pro was set up and had not yet been mounted outside. It was lying on the kitchen island facing upward. Alexa keeps telling me someone has been detected, and I knew no one was there. So, I looked in the app to see what had been recorded. Lo and behold, it was me. The camera is facing upward and spotting me moving around horizontally to it. ring calls it 3D Motion Detection, and I call it amazing! The video quality 1536 HD+ is amazing! Whether viewing on my living room Echo Show, on my TV, or in the app, the image is crisp, color is sharp, and the view is wide day or night. Also, audio is very clear. Camera functions include a snapshot ability. Amongst the various camera filter settings is a Package alert option. I have used the word “amazing” a lot in this review, and that is because the new ring Battery Doorbell is amazing in every way. As much as I love my original Pro, this new Pro has taken doorbell cams to an amazing new level. Do I recommend it? Definitely!

I've used Ring cameras and the alarm system for years, but this is my first doorbell camera. Overall I'm pretty happy with the Pro 2 experience. *** INSTALLATION *** This is replaced a standard wired doorbell. The basic installation is simple enough and the Pro 2 powered up fine -- but failed to properly ring my existing (non-Ring) chime. Didn't take long to discover my old wired system was 10v and not the required 16v for the Pro 2. I've lived in this house for over 20 years (didn't install the old doorbell) and though my old-school doorbell chime claims it also requires 16v, apparently it didn't. Nonetheless, replacing the old 10v doorbell transformer with a new 16v transformer was a piece of cake (but another $30 expense and a trip to Home Depot). Save yourself some trouble and (unlike me) actually verify that you have a 16v-24v wired system ahead of time. *** RING SETUP *** After installation, the setup was an easy 10-minute job. It probably helps that I have years of experience with the Ring system itself and the cameras setups, but it's all pretty simple if you just follow the prompts. *** PERFORMANCE *** With minor tweaks to the settings, the motion detection has been flawless. The system correctly alerts and records motion, and so far I have not experienced any false or missed detections. The "package delivery" feature is really cool and has worked exactly as promised. The camera range of field is exceptional for a doorbell installation - actually a much wider range than I was expecting. Video quality is very good. I'd say it's a bit better than the Ring Stick-Up Camera quality. Close-up (e.g. someone within 10 feet of the doorbell) is very good. The quality drops fairly quickly beyond 25 feet or so. Seems reasonable for a doorbell camera. Overall I’m very impressed with this doorbell cam

I really want to like this doorbell but so far I’m not super impressed. I’m a new Ring customer so I had to set up an account, that took longer than setting up the doorbell. Once in the app, the doorbell itself setup up super fast. This says battery doorbell but we hardwired it so it’d ring on our home chime. When hardwired its provides a trickle charge to the battery. This has so many features & settings, I’m still learning some of them, you can customize your tones, get neighbor alerts , two way microphone & the video is clear & the range can be set which is also fairly decent. You can switch from a birds eye view which shows an aerial view of our whole house or just doorbell view & it is a head to toe image. History & events are stored but you definitely need a subscription for all these services or it’s basically just a doorbell. Subscription is free for 30 days if you’re a new customer. I have yet to have it detect a package no matter how sensitive I make the settings. Sometimes it records all motion & other times you can walk by it multiple times & nothing. I called support to figure out what’s going on & after an hour still couldn’t figure it out. I’m waiting to hear from a higher support team to see if it’s defective. The doorbell is fairly large & honestly for the price, I don’t think it’s worth it. I have another doorbell that works just as well, without all the bells & whistles & was a fraction of the price. I’ll give it 4 stars because of some of the features & quality but hopefully there’s firmware updates or mine is really defective..

We are happy to provide you with more information regarding the motion detection concern that you mentioned in your review. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."

Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
      Tap "Motion Settings."
      Tap "Smart Alerts."
      Tap "Enable Feature."
      Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for "Person" and "Other Motion."
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.
After you've adjusted your settings, tap "Done."

The Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro (doorbell) is a smart, wifi connected, rechargeable and removable battery operated doorbell that allows you to remotely monitor and talk to people on your property via either phone or desktop/laptop computer. The doorbell is easy to operate and is controlled by an app downloaded from the internet. The doorbell is very easy to set up. Simply charge the battery, setup an account on the Ring site, download the Ring app to setup the doorbell. The doorbell is recognized by the QR code on the device. The doorbell comes with a 30 day free Ring Protect Plan. This Plan lets you review, save, and share your video and photo history at any time. After 30 day trial, there is a monthly subscription cost, but the doorbell works fine without purchasing the plan. In operation, the doorbell can detect motion in a user defined area. This can be a fairly large area and allows you to detect packages or movement that have been delivered even when you are not home or the doorbell button has not been depressed. Other features of the doorbell include Amazon Alexa smart home capability, a 150 degree field of view, and 1536p HD resolution with improved color night vision. In summary, if you are looking for an easy to install and use video doorbell that offers (but does not require) both basic and advanced features through a monthly subscription plan (offered but not required for basic use), I highly recommend the Ring Battery Video Doorbell Pro.

Everyone knows Ring. They produced the first doorbell camera and have been successful ever since (now owned by Amazon). But the Battery Doorbell Pro addresses a few of the gaps in their prior products. One is that it is now battery powered, which enables installations where the traditional doorbell transformer is not available, but it can be hardwired to an existing 8-24 VAC transformer if available. Another feature is adding better quality images when lighting is not exactly the best - in HDR color to boot. Yet another, and probably my favorite, is that you can now map zones so that you're only notified when something happens in that area (eliminates nuisance alerts for cars going down the road, etc.). The app also allows you to look at your property with "a bird's eye view" so that you can see how someone approached your property and/or front door. The doorbell also seamlessly integrates into other devices, which can make up your home security system. It supports dual band WiFi, and works with Alexa and IFTTT. Of course, being an Amazon product it doesn't support Google Assistant or HomeKit. It requires a subscription to view recorded video, and some features require you to have a paid subscription with Ring. Lastly, a microUSB port is used which is unusual these days given the pervasiness of USB-C for device charging and power needs. All in all, it is a great smart doorbell. While not perfect, I view it as a very strong good enough solution.

This review is for the Ring doorbell Pro smart Wi-Fi battery powered. The Ring Doorbell Pro offers a comprehensive home security solution in a sleek and compact easy to install design. It's 1536P HD video quality delivers crisp and clear footage, day or night, ensuring you can monitor your property with ease. The two-way audio feature allows for seamless communication with visitirs or potential unwanted guest. The installation is relatively straightforward, and the customizable motion detection zones ensure you only recive the alerts for the activity zones you pick, helping to minimizing false alarms, One of the standout features of the Ring doorbell is it's integation with the Ring app, which allows for remote access to live footage and alerts from anywhere via your phone. Lets face it with out a good app to connect with this smart doorbell it would become just an over priced door bell. The app is very easy to use. And also connects you to a whole network of other Ring users. In my city you can see what is going on around your neighborhood from what people post. I havn't had it long enough to comment on the battery life just yet. But you do have the option to hardwire it. Which I will be doing after I test the battery life some more. The battery dose come out very easy and can be charged with just a USB-C cable. You do need a Ring subscription to access some features, which may deter some users, But it is worth it,

Our household has dealt with our fair share of wireless video cameras over the past few years, this was the 10th wireless camera I have installed around our home, and it was the first Ring branded camera, and first doorbell camera we’ve had. I have to say we have been sleeping on the Ring brand! I have been so impressed with it, in some aspects where I feel competitors have struggled in my experience, Ring seems to excel. It was unbelievably easy to set up my Ring Doorbell, after charging it it nearly set itself up. I like that you just need to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell and follow the directions on the app, answering very simple questions and connecting to your households wifi. Mounting the camera to the frame of our front door was pretty easy. Because of the layout of our front porch I had to use the wedge mount the camera came with to get a better recording angle and it was easy to install. The only gripe I had was the screws that hold the mount to the house had a head that was a little too small, they just barely held the plate without slipping through the gap but I was able to make it work. The camera's connection to the wifi seems very consistent, I have not had any disconnections from it yet whereas other cameras I use from competitor brands disconnect fairly often. It also seems like it has way less lag when playing live video compared to my other cameras as well, it really is unbelievable how much better the Ring equipment and app seems. The Ring App is very easy to navigate when making adjustments to the camera settings, as well as viewing recorded videos. Notifications seem to come through to my phone very quickly and the app is very responsive when I click on the notifications for more info. We are very excited to see what kind of wildlife we catch on our camera, as well as of course having the added security and convenience of finally having a doorbell camera, and a really good one at that! I know next time we need new surveillance cameras at home I will be sticking with the Ring brand because so far I have been nothing but impressed.

This is my first Ring Door Bell. I was impressed with the size of this device. Installation took 5 minutes due to I opted for the battery version. It also has existing wires if you decide to wire in instead. The battery did take a while to charge fully. Connecting to my network was easy. My experience has mixed feelings but I have to consider that I have only had this for approx. 5 days. The daytime views are very good. Night time view is pixelated approximately 30 feet out. Up close images are good. Full view is nice and able to zoom and move view around to see to the side. My connectivity to the camera has been intermittent especially when going through my home network. Seems to work better when using phone with cellular instead. Still trying to figure that out especially since all my other devices are connecting with no issues. I did have one instance a package was delivered and it caught that image, but 10 seconds later I had another package waiting for pick up and It did not capture that event. Nothings perfect right! I will most likely take the subscription to access all the features. I do like being able to screen shoot an image if desired. I am also still experimenting with tweaking time recording durations and how often to have the camera algorithm set. I like the preset messages and may use them from time to time. Two way communication is good also. After checking the features between the various Ring Door Bells, I think the pro version is definitely worth getting with all of its features and capabilities. Overall, Ring offers a lot of features, an inexpensive subscription plan and easy installation.

I've had a few ring door bells, but they've always been the standard version without the removable battery. I've never had a problem with them and even our v1 is still working, though it's put in a box now. One thing to keep in mind if you're upgrading from the standard to the Pro version is that the mount points are different. I didn't do my research and found I couldn't put the Pro in the same spot as my old units. The screw holes are closer to the edge and the spot where our doorbell wiring fit perfectly with old points, but doesn't allow me to use the mounting holes of the pro version. Good thing is that they make an adapter so that you can use the screw holes for the standard versions. The thing I love most about the new camera is the HDR. Our doorbell sits under a covered porch and a lot of times the old version would use the white point in the darker areas causing the area beyond the porch to be too bright. With HDR both the porch and the driveway are clearly visible. This made getting the Pro version a huge upgrade from our previous model. There's also a tracking feature where it can map the person it sees so you can follow their steps. It hasn't worked reliably for me yet and the overlay doesn't show any map data, just a big blue area with dots for the travel. If you're already in the Ring ecosystem, this is a huge upgrade from the standard versions. I can't see myself going back to the other versions after using the Pro.
