Enjoying the doorbell

The battery has a very good life as I charged it out of the box to ensure it was fully charged and have not charged it in 22 days. I will definitely be purchasing another doorbell to add to the other entrance.

Downgrade!

Until it stopped working, it worked perfectly. I bought this thinking that it would be a slight upgrade over the old one but I was way wrong. First for the pros: Build quality is great Video quality and audio quality is good Subscription is only $5 a month Easy installation and setup Cons DOES NOT DETECT MOTION! I swear this only detects whatever it wants to. I’ve changed the settings and followed suggestions by fellow owners and ring support, and still. It’s not detecting 99% of any events going on at my front door. Totally defeats the entire purpose of having a doorbell camera. Wish I could return this, but these issues started happening after the return period was over, of course. So honestly, this new, not even month old camera is going straight into the recycling bin and I’m going to actually upgrade to something better.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected in regards to motion detection. We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring device functioning as intended. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. You can add up to three motion zones per device under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling the "Smart Alerts" feature for people only in your Ring app. To enable "Smart Alerts," please follow these steps:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap "Devices."
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap "Motion Settings."
Tap "Smart Alerts."
Tap "Enable Feature."
Tap "Continue."
Select the notification options that you want for Person, Vehicle and Other Motion.
Tap Done to save new settings. Editing existing settings will save automatically.

She finally doesn’t have to walk to the door wondering who’s knocking. Just a few taps and she immediately can see who’s at the door. I’m glad it gives her a sense of safety being in her own home.

Not only can I watch and see what’s happening at my door. I can also get notifications from neighbors about things going on in the area. They communicate if there’s a suspicious person in the neighborhood and also alert you about fires and other hazards.

I like the ease of installation and the fact that it doesn’t require power but is rechargeable. It has been a week since installed and battery is still at 90%. I think the battery life is going to be as good if not better that our old model.
