We use it in the garage to monitor the dogs while we are out of town. Took about 3 minutes to get into the ring network. The little blinder is kind of nice too

Ring subscription is unnecessary expense

Its my camera and my wifi why should i pay for cloud storage unnecessarily, instead keep a memory card option to storage the video footage

We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the functionality of the device. While subscribed to one of our Ring Home Plans, you will have access to videos of every motion and live view event. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone and have access to the live view feature.

But the addition of the extra piece of plastic that notifies you when you cover the lens, and the mounting screws and neck pivot angles are welcome additions to splurge on.
