    “I Loved My 2K Camera… Until I Tried This”

    ## **Ring Outdoor Cam Pro – Overkill Excellence in 4K** I picked up the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro to replace a 2K camera I already owned — and let me just say, I *loved* that 2K camera. It was reliable, sharp, and did everything I needed … until I needed just a little more distance clarity. Anything beyond about 30–40 feet started to look like a watercolor painting. So the upgrade motivation was distance detail, not disappointment. ### **My Experience After a Few Days** I installed the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro on the side of my house (and yes, drilling into the siding felt like a personal commitment ceremony). I wanted to see if all the hype around “Retinal 4K,” 10× zoom, and full-color night vision was real or just marketing. ### **What I Loved** * **The clarity is ridiculous in a good way.** The jump from 2K to 4K is instantly noticeable — zooming in actually preserves detail instead of turning the world into Minecraft. * **The 10× zoom really delivered** the distance improvement I was hoping for. I could clearly see further down my alley, which my 2K camera struggled with. * **Full-color low-light night vision actually works**, which surprised me. At dusk, instead of everything turning ghost-gray, I was still seeing color. * **Wide-angle view** covered more of my yard and reduced blind spots. * **Setup was straightforward**, even as a plug-in model. ### **Where It Fell Short** * **Alert overload.** Every leaf, plastic bag, and gentle breeze apparently counts as suspicious activity. * **Subscription required** for full features. Without it, the camera feels like a sports car locked in first gear. * **Heavily WiFi-dependent.** The zoom-in detail is amazing when the internet is stable — less amazing during a laggy moment. * **Might be more camera than most people need.** If you just want porch notifications, this is definitely extra. ### **My Verdict** If you’re upgrading *specifically* to get more distance clarity — like I was — this is absolutely a worthwhile jump. I’d rate it **10/10** overall: fantastic hardware, incredible detail, but with a subscription and alert-spam caveat. For basic monitoring, it’s overkill. For distance clarity and security confidence, it’s a flex.

If you are looking for a security camera for your home, definitely consider the Ring - Outdoor Cam Pro, Retinal 4K. One of my biggest concerns when dealing with home security cameras is video quality. Especially at night. The Ring Outdoor cam pro provides a very clear image at night, so it allows me to check on my cars and my pets when I am away. One thing to consider is whether you want battery over a hardwired security camera. I have had both, but battery cameras can be a pain when it comes to recharging. Unless you have a solar panel charger, which I don't. I also don't feel like buying a separate accessory to my already expensive security camera(s). So, the wired Ring - Outdoor Cam Pro, Retinal 4K was a great option for me. I know, someone can easily cut the wire and render the camera useless. This is why I mounted my camera high enough to where that won't happen. I also mounted the Ring - Outdoor Cam Pro, Retinal 4K camera close to my home's soffit so that I could also run the power cable through the soffit and into a receptacle in my attic. The installation is very easy. It can get complicated if you try install the camera on a masonry surface, but still very durable. It just takes a bit more time. The app setup is also very straightforward, and just takes a few easy to follow steps. Overall, the Ring - Outdoor Cam Pro, Retinal 4K cam is a great security option for any home or business.

Great for 4K in Ring Ecosystem

Verdict: This camera is great if you are already into the Ring ecosystem and want higher resolution. If you are not in the ring ecosystem, please note that you will have to pay for a subscription to get the most out of this camera (see next paragraph). But then again, most camera companies also significantly limit the features of their free plans, so this is on part with the industry. I do find the camera to be on the pricey side. Subscription required. While this camera comes with a 30 day free trial of Ring Home, after the trial is over, you will have to pay monthly to get critical features. This may be fine for some and maybe not for others. Please do check the price of subscriptions before buying the camera so you understand what you are buying into. We installed this camera at a location where we had a Ring doorbell and where we were already paying for a plan, so this worked well for us at this specific location so we could continue to build into the Ring ecosystem. At a different location, we are heavily invested in a different camera ecosystem. First Impressions. The camera looks robust. It’s bigger than I expected. In the box, you get the camera, power cable, ring sticker, two mounts, and manual. Setup. We had to reconsider where to put this camera because we couldn’t hide the power brick. I mean it’s not huge, but it’s also not concealed like a cable. Once we adjusted the location and mounted the camera, setup is plug and finish in the app. Since we already had the app, the software setup was quite fast and intuitive. If you are new to Ring, this part can take some time as you must create your account and setup two factor authentication; it’s not hard but can be annoying (I just did this for my in-laws). Performance. The 4K resolution is quite remarkable, with the ability to zoom in significantly more than our Ring door cam, but honestly… still less than I expected for 4K. Perhaps my expectation of zooming in 4K resolution was significantly inflated. Image quality is great under most conditions. Integration with Alexa. By far, our favorite feature about Ring cameras is the seamless integration with the Alexa Show and Echo. Our cameras automatically display on the Show when motion is detected, and we can also customize announcements on the echo for motion detection. Amazing!! App. Unfortunately, I really dislike the app. This may be because we are significantly used to another brand of cameras and their fantastic app… Nevertheless, I still think it is not very intuitive beside the basic functions of viewing the camera. It’s also not really well organized. I prefer bottom-of-the screen shortcuts/menus because smart phones are “portrait” format, so there is much more space to add things at the bottom. Having the menu on the left doesn’t make sense when screens are so limited on left-to-right space. Our dislike of the app is the reason we heavily integrated with Alexa devices; we never really open the app anymore, unless it’s to review past footage. Things I love: - 4K resolution is great, but manage expectation on “10x Zoom” - Flawless Alexa integration; it adds so much convenience to the camera capabilities - Two-Way talk works really well actually; best that we have tried - Capable system if you pay for the subscription Things I don’t love: - Subscription is required get the most out of these cameras. Without paying for a subscription, I would not recommend getting this camera. - The power brick in the middle of the power cord will not be optimal for some setups. It’s actually really awkward and required that we rethink where the camera was going to go. - It’s really quite expensive compared to other close-enough offerings on the market for plug-in cameras. Overall, I think this is a solid camera. For those in the Ring ecosystem, I would rate it a 4.5. If you are not in the ring ecosystem, I would rate this camera a 3.5.

Great Imaging and Features...but at a High Cost

Is this the security camera that finally lets you zoom in and read that tiny moles on someone’s face from your porch? Is it worth the hefty price tag and the inevitable subscription fee? The flashiest feature here is the Retinal 4K video quality. This is Ring’s first attempt at the ultra-high-definition game and it’s a noticeable jump from their older 1080p and even the 2K models my folks have. During the day, footage is detailed, and that’s obviously important for security. You can make out faces, distinguish clothing details, and generally see a much clearer picture of what’s happening outside your home. The increased resolution helps a great deal when you have a larger yard or a long driveway. Helps to have extra detail along with the 10x Enhanced Zoom. Please note that 10x zoom is digital, not optical, meaning the camera is just cropping in on the 4K image. But because the original image is high-res, the zoomed-in view is still far more usable and less grainy than what you'd get from zooming in on a standard 1080p or 2K camera. But what about when the sun goes down? Ring tries to solve some of the common night-time clarity issues with two night-time features: Low-Light Sight and Adaptive Night Vision. Low-Light Sight is pretty cool—it uses minimal ambient light, like a nearby streetlamp or porch light, to give you a full-color view. No more black and white. However, there is increased 'ghosting' or motion blur in this mode if the object is moving close to the camera, so keep that in mind. If it's pitch black, the camera flips over to Adaptive Night Vision, which is the “normal” high-contrast black-and-white image from other cameras. It is clear and can be used to view details that you normally couldn’t see yourself in the dark. The overall video performance, especially in those tricky low-light conditions, is genuinely impressive and easily one of the camera's strongest selling points. Beyond the visuals, the other tech packed into this "Pro" model is the 3D Motion Detection and Bird's Eye View, both of which rely on built-in radar. This is very different compared to traditional pixel-based motion detection. Instead of just sensing changes in light or color, the radar measures the distance of an object, which helps dramatically cut down on annoying false alerts from swaying trees or shadows. You can set specific distance thresholds—for example, tell the camera to only alert you when something crosses a line of X number of feet from the lens. Bird's Eye View is also interesting; it gives you an aerial map view of where the person or object traveled on your property before triggering the alert. It adds a whole new layer of understanding to your motion notifications. Plus, the Two-Way Audio is pretty loud and clear enough to actually hold a conversation with someone. So, if the tech is so good, what’s the catch? Well, you probably already know it: The Ring Subscription. The camera itself is an investment, but to unlock its full potential, you have to subscribe to a Ring Protect plan. Without one, you’ll get motion-triggered live view and real-time alerts, but you won't be able to review, save, or share any recorded video clips. You’re essentially buying a fancy live stream for your phone. To get the 180 days of video history, smart alerts (person, package, vehicle), and video previews, you need at least the Basic plan. If you want the ultra-premium features—like the continuous 24/7 recording in 4K, AI-powered smart video search, and SOS emergency response—you’re looking at the more expensive Premium plan. This paywall is the biggest point of contention for me and why I always end up going back to the competition. You're paying for all this money for hardware, but you don’t get the equal experience because its locked behind a recurring monthly fee. I wish they would offer local storage (like an SD card slot or even a way to connect it wirelessly to a base station) to view recordings without a fee, but that’s never going to happen. Also, since Ring relies on cloud storage it means the 24/7 4K recording (or even the event recordings) will eat into your internet bandwidth. You’ll want to think about that if you have a bandwidth cap with your Internet Service Provider. Installation-wise, this is a plug-in Wi-Fi model, meaning you’ll need a power outlet nearby, which might limit your placement options. You might need to run an extension cord or hire an electrician. It’s built for the outdoors, but the mounting hardware can feel low budget. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you use Google Assistant or Apple HomeKit, you should know that Ring is primarily built for the Amazon Alexa ecosystem. Integration with other smart home systems is limited. Integration examples are hands-free voice-activated live video feeds, two-way talk directly on the Echo Show screen, and motion alerts that instantly display the camera feed. I couldn’t find a way to do that with other branded displays. So to Buy or Not to Buy? The Ring Outdoor Cam Pro, Retinal 4K is, without a doubt, a premium security camera. Its Retinal 4K video, impressive low-light performance, and radar-enhanced 3D motion detection are high quality. You get clearer details, especially at night or at a distance, and radar alerts to minimize false alarms. However, you have to look past the hardware and consider the entire cost of ownership. Are you comfortable with the hefty initial price plus the mandatory monthly subscription to actually utilize the all features? Are you already invested in the Ring/Amazon ecosystem, or would you be willing to switch? These are all questions you have to ask yourself. This Ring has top-of-the-line in terms of visuals and features. If you’re fine with another pricey subscription and using an Echo Show, then you can’t get better than this but if you’re looking for no subscription fees and more compatibility with smart services then you should probably keep looking.

I find that Ring Outdoor Cam Pro Retinal 4K camera is a pretty advanced and a well updated camera for your home, compared to their previous offerings. I picked up Ring Outdoor Cam Pro to see how it compared to my other outdoor cameras from another big brand. With its 4K resolution (it captures video at 3840 × 2160 resolution for maximum clarity) I find the video quality has excelled and it was definitely worth upgrading for me. I would also recommend this camera if your household is already integrated with Amazon ecosystem. Here is why. The Ring Outdoor Cam Pro is compatible with a broad array of Alexa-enabled hardware you may already own. Here are the devices: - Echo Show (all generations) - Echo Spot - Echo Hub - Echo Dot (for audio announcements) - Fire TV (various generations) - Fire Tablets (Gen 7 and above) - Amazon Astro (their robotic assistant) So with all these devices, this compatibility ensures that users can interact with their camera from virtually any Amazon device with a screen or speaker, maximizing accessibility throughout the home. I have their Eco Show (the one with a big screen in the kitchen) and I find it very convenient to review the video feed either live or recorded right from the device. Of course you can do the same thing from your phone but using a bigger screen and its integration with the camera is my preference for home use. Now, like all smart devices out there, this one also offers a subscription. I am not a fan of those, however it is worth it if you are already invested in the ecosystem. Alexa can deliver real-time announcements to Echo devices when the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro detects motion or when someone presses a connected Ring doorbell. With a Ring Protect subscription, Alexa can also announce when a person or package is detected, leveraging AI-powered object recognition. If you have their Fire TV, you get the same support and integration as well, which is super nice. I think what really sold me on this camera is its video quality. I find it to be their strongest point, my older 1080P cameras and its image processing cannot compare to the quality of this camera. The trade-off is cost of course, but for peace of mind and great detail in video, the 4K clarity is hard to beat in my opinion. This camera is a great contender to many other product offerings with 4K however its well integrated ecosystem and established business model means that these cameras will continue on being improved and its future support won't be abandoned. Check it out for yourself, compare it to other brands and see what works best for your home and situation. Hope this review helps!

Ring with 4k finally ! but needs AC or POE power

The Ring Outdoor Cam Pro is a Wi-Fi capable 4k security camera suited for indoor or outdoor use. If you have any Ring devices, it makes for a smart purchase. The camera itself is about the size of a tall beverage can, this model came in white and has a built-in mount which can be angled vertically. This camera requires AC power but can also be POE (power over ethernet) if your router is capable of supplying power over a wired network connection. Setup is simple, the mobile Ring App walks you through the basic setup using either the Android or iOS app. First it connects to your phone, then your Wi-Fi network. After finishing the basic setup, I found a temporary mounting area about 4 feet off the ground, with a view of my front yard. The 4k video quality was fairly good, with streaming HDR video. Once I looked at the app and the camera setup a bit more in depth it allowed you to configure a number of different options, including detection zones and video quality, HDR and color night vision. One of the features is something called Birds Eye View which provides an aerial view based on a satellite picture of where the device is installed. Anytime there is motion, the Birds Eye view displays a trail of dots showing the movement of the person through your property. The ability to Zoom up to 14x is noted in the documentation for the device. When I zoomed in on the video to read a license plate from about 30 feet away, I could somewhat determine the numbers/letters. However, the ability to zoom and detail provided might be a bit overstated. I suspect that a wired connection may yield more reliable results with less variances in the bit rate of the video, providing a steady clear resolution. Color night vision and HDR are both noticeable features. The color night vision is effective and looks better than the standard greyscale usually provided with night vision functionality. HDR is particularly effective and makes for a pleasant looking picture, especially when the sky is featured, with deep blues and nice saturation. So, for you video aficionados you will be somewhat pleased with the image quality of this security camera, as long as network connectivity (and actually the internet, since the video is traversing a cloud service) is good. Overall, this is a good consumer video security camera, especially if you are already invested in the Ring ecosystem and subscription model. >>> Pros >> Simple setup process >> Two-way full duplex sound, so you can listen and talk if needed. >> Works with the Ring ecosystem, if you have one device, this device integrates seamlessly with the mobile app and other devices >> Excellent low light/night performance >> 155-degree field of view (wide) <<< Cons << As a single device, after the 30-day trial, the ring cloud service is reasonable, the jump to multiple devices is not in my opinion << No onboard device storage or memory card capabilities, you have to subscribe to the cloud service to have video history of motion detected events << AC powered, so placement may be complicated

I finally pulled the trigger on the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro, mostly because all the talk about Retinal 4K was too tempting, and honestly, it’s a game-changer for outdoor security. I used to have a standard 1080p camera, and when I needed to zoom in on a strange car or person at the end of the driveway, the footage just turned into a blurry mess—it was useless. But this Pro? The 10x Enhanced Zoom is wild. Because the initial video is true 4K, I can pinch and zoom ten times and still clearly make out details like license plates or faces that are way down the block. What really sold me on making the upgrade, though, was the night vision. The Low-Light Sight full-color night vision is exactly what I needed. I hate the spooky, grainy black-and-white footage; it always washes out important details like the color of someone’s jacket. Now, when I check the feed at 3\text{ AM}, the colors are surprisingly accurate and the image is bright enough that I feel like I'm watching a slow-motion video, not a ghost film. Plus, the 3\text{D Motion Detection} with Bird's Eye View is incredibly smart; it uses radar to figure out exactly where motion started and where the person walked, so I'm not constantly getting alerts from my neighbor's cat walking across the lawn. My only complaint, and it's a typical Ring complaint, is the subscription. You pay a premium for this great piece of hardware, but to actually look back at the amazing 4K footage the camera recorded yesterday, you still need to pay for the Ring Protect Plan. It's an extra cost that feels necessary, but if you want the best possible view of your property, day or night, this is the one to get. It’s expensive, but it genuinely gives me total peace of mind.

After acquiring the latest Ring wireless doorbell and being very happy with it, I decided to try their new 4K outdoor camera. When in good lighting conditions and even in low daylight conditions, the image quality is excellent at 24fps. But before going further, I was a bit disappointed with its performance at night. The video quality is much worse than I expected. They advertise it as low light “sight”, but it seems that what they mean by that is it performs well in a cloudy or shady environment as long as there is some daylight. You are somewhat out of luck at night unless you have at least a little bit of light which improves the quality a lot and even records in color. I've seen worse but I was expecting more. What I like is that it supports all Wi-Fi frequencies available, including 6Ghz which is rarely supported by this type of camera. In fact, I noticed that image quality is considerably better when connected to either 5 or 6Ghz. It does make sense since those frequencies can carry more data and is usually interference free in comparison to 2.4Ghz. The issue that some people might experience is that higher frequencies have a lower distance range which can affect quality and performance in general. I had some slight issues when zooming over 5x, but overall, it performed better than another camera I tried before, probably because of the 4K resolution. One thing I would like to point out is that this type of camera may be affected by some types of lights, especially old fluorescent ones. That may cause flickering or even banding. That was an issue I used to have in my garage until I replaced them with more modern LED lights. Thus, I didn’t notice that with this camera. What I noticed only after installing is that it has a loud siren which can be set off remotely. That is great to have, especially when you’re far away from home. I tried it a couple of times and it worked instantly. It even has duplex audio if you need to communicate with whomever is out there. Audio quality is okay, not great, not terrible. While it works without subscription, you’ll probably want at least the basic plan that Ring offers so you can record whatever happens. Personally, I don’t like any type of subscription, but that’s the world we live in today and ring doesn’t offer SD card option to record, and I agree that recording online is a safer option anyway. Finally, although I noticed no great difference in the dark, setting auto HDR improves quality, allowing for better image details. Just in case, that’s what I set as default. Despite some cons, it is still the best wireless cameras that I have ever tried.

In the box is the camera, UBC-C power adapter, standard mount/wall mount/kit with screws, a Ring sticker to put in your window and the users manual. Disclaimer - This is my first Ring product but not my first outdoor camera. (I also have a doorbell camera as well.) So I am excited to see if there is a difference between the Ring and my current cameras in a different ecosystem. I do own a ring security system and the cameras did work seamlessly with the Ring ecosystem. First Impression - The camera seems very familiar as most of the functions are the same as my existing cameras. The camera says that it’s an outdoor camera but the plastic seems thin and I was worried about it being outside. All of the hardware came in the box, which was nice. I do like that the camera came with different mounting options. You can use the stand or you can take it off or you can take stand off of the stand and use it as a wall bracket. The wall bracket has a straight position or an angled position. The camera also came with a shroud to cover the lens. Installation - The installation only took about 10 minutes to install. It also came with plenty of power cable, so you should be able to mount it almost anywhere. Ring App - The Ring app is very simple to use, intuitive, pretty much anyone can use the app. Scan the QR code and the app walks you through the process. There is a firmware update after you scan the code. I appreciate that the app is simple and straightforward. I like the motion notifications via the app on your phone and also the ring security system has an alert sound as well. There is a little delay with the two way talk feature but it’s expected being a WiFi device. It is a bit faster than my current doorbell camera. The Camera - The views from the camera are really good. The camera does have very low latency over WiFi. I am able to span my whole back yard and into the beginning of the neighbors yard as well which is about 240 feet. The night vision with the live view is also really good. It almost looks like daylight. The only cons right now is I thought that the shape of the camera was a little odd. It’s shaped like a cylinder instead of being the shape of an actual camera. Overall, I do like this product. I would recommend to friends and family and I would consider purchasing again.

I got the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro Retinal 4K awhile ago and honestly its been a big help around the house. As a busy parent I dont have time to constantly check whats going on outside, so having a cam that kinda “just works” is really nice. The Retinal 4K video looks super crisp… like, I can actually tell if it’s my kid grabbing a package or if it’s the neighbors dog again lol. The night vision is way better than I expected too. I can see everything on the driveway even when the porch light’s off. The motion detection is pretty spot on sometimes a lil too sensitive but honestly I’d rather it be overcautious when I’m trying to keep track of everything. I really like the two-way audio cause if the kids are out front I can just say something quick through the cam instead of running outside, which saves me a trip (or like… five). The alerts hit my phone fast, and the app isn’t confusing at all which is great cause I don’t have the brainpower for complicated stuff lately. Install was pretty easy… not gonna lie, I messed with the screws wrong the first time but once it was up, it stayed put. The weatherproofing is solid too we had rain last week and it never glitched or anything. If you’re a mom or dad who just wants somethin to help you keep an eye on things without stressing, this camera does the job really well. I feel a lot better knowing I can check in any time, and the picture is clear enough that I actually know what I’m looking at for once. Definitely glad I grabbed it.

The RING Outdoor Cam Pro (Plug In Power) was easy to install and use with the RING app on my iOS devices. It took me about ten minutes out of the box to sync the camera with the app and I was up and running. As long as you can find the QR code on the back of the camera you are home free.. capture the QR code and it will easily and quickly guide you through the camera software installation …before you know it you are done. Captures weaker WIFI from your router. The RING Outdoor Cam Pro has a very wide viewing area all around from all sides and an extremely good picture quality especially while viewing/monitoring at night. Power cord is long at about 17 feet long and the unit can withstand very high and low outdoor temperatures. Plus a big feature of RING cameras… you can see and control the video on your PC, for many this could be a very important feature. Especially if you need a larger screen, have multiple cameras to monitor or have a more traditional security setup. So far the unit looks and feels very durable. Time will tell as I have it mounted two stories high. Biggest flaw? There is no way to secure the power cable outside. Anyone could come up and grab/cut it. Also, if you do have a place to hardwire the camera you would have to modify it yourself and I’m sure no one wants to do that. Many other brands do the same thing with their outdoor plug in cameras. Just wished it included more options to connect the power more securely.

This is an outstanding outdoor camera featuring a wide-angle lens capable of capturing a large number of high-quality photos and videos. It offers all the essential features one expects from a security camera in a compact design, while surpassing many advanced security systems with full-color imaging and an impressive 10X zoom capability. My current Ring products—doorbells, cameras (outdoor and indoor)—all work efficiently, delivering excellent video and audio quality while using minimal space. The main minor shortcoming of this camera is its claim to capture color photos at night. While it performs excellently in black and white, I've owned other devices that can produce vibrant nighttime colors. However, because this camera is primarily used outdoors for security, high-quality color images at night aren't necessary—detailed and reliable functionality matter more. As a result, this minor drawback doesn't affect how well the unit performs. With a subscription, you can unlock a wide range of features across all Ring products. For this particular camera, you get neighbour identification, quick and easy access to your video recordings, and an impressive live feature. The camera itself is positioned on the bottom left side of the garage, while its Wi-Fi connection is on the top right side of the house, demonstrating its excellent range. Additionally, the 4K quality is outstanding.

First of all packaging was great. It was really well thought out. And was shipped in box that I don’t think could ever get damaged enough that the camera would be compromised in any manner. Unboxing was intuitive. I set up the Ring app on my iPhone 17, iPad Air, current generation, and a Google pixel nine Pro. The app worked well among all devices. There were minor differences between the android and iOS ecosystems, allowing for a pretty seamless experience between the two I already had an account so I didn’t need to create one, but signing in was really easy even after I forgot my Password. Installation of the camera was pretty easy. All the installation hardware needed for most standard installs were there. Once installed powering up and setting up the device on the account was also pretty easy the whole process between installation and set up onto the app and being able to view took less than 10 minutes. If you are looking for an easy to use camera that doesn’t require a lot of thought other than just making sure you have power and Wi-Fi this is probably the camera for you in the Ring Eco system. Picture quality was good night. Vision was OK.

After experiencing a break in to our storage shed, I knew it was time to set up a security system. I spoke with the local law enforcement and they suggested the Ring systems. When it comes to cooperation with law enforcement, Ring has found the right balance between privacy and sharing valuable video with the authorities. I had a previous Ring camera, and looked for the additional clarity, detail, and night vision capabilities that this camera has. This Outdoor Cam Pro doesn’t disappoint. The picture is crystal clear and the night vision is a big step up from older models. What used to be fuzzy like license plates, is now very readable. The 10x zoom works great bringing in the details. The 2-way audio is quick to respond, and very clear. The siren is a real attention grabber. With customization, you can set monitoring zones with helps to reduce false triggers. The install is fairly straightforward, and easily connected to my wi-fi network. I recommend using it on a 5Ghz or Wifi 6 network for better video quality. There are few things to note. This camera requires the included plug-in adapter, so an outlet needs to be close by. There is no battery backup or local storage. Videos are stored in the cloud. The real added value features comes with having a subscription plan. For users with a Ring subscription, this is a great addition to your home monitoring system.

The Ring Outdoor Cam Pro is a welcomed addition to the world of Security Cameras. This camera is wired. The camera does not have an internal battery, the wire is cumbersome, and you must use the supplied power cable due to power requirements. This latest Ring Camera has the Signature Retinal 4K. The new Retinal 4K has Ultra clear video with better detail and crispness. Along with true color accuracy in low light conditions, there is also a 10x enhanced capability without a loss of detail. They even thought about the app display and optimized the video quality between the camera and the app. Next Ring updated its motion detection to tell the difference between types of movement and a 3d spatial awareness to understand what and where something is moving. This feature allows for zones where you can turn off motion detection. This new feature allows for precise alerts with fewer negative alerts. The built-in spotlight adjusts based on the current lighting conditions. This camera also works with “Alexa”. Remember to go to setting in the application and setup whether you want to participate in the lost pet and law enforcement using your feed and recording.

For those of you that are not in the ring ecosystem and are looking for home security then Ring is the the top tier move. The camera itself offers superior high quality zoom, 4K video, night vision, optimal low light viewing. It is a plug in which is excellent because you never have to replace the battery and this can be positioned anywhere where you may have an outlet. Installation is extremely simple and set up with the ring app is absolutely seamless. Once you are fully set up then you can set zones up on the app where if someone or something enters the specified zone then the ring app will alert you with a notification that someone or something has entered the zone. The camera will flawlessly pick this up and capture it be it during the day or at night with its night vision features. The camera also has a retina detection which works fairly well and it is a nice new feature. In order for the feature to work, then it has to be plugged in 24/7. Overall, this is a great camera and a really good upgrade to older models.

Received this Ring Cam a week ago. I already have 8 various Ring Cams and Doorbell inside and outside my house and in basement and garage. Figured this would be a good upgrade for my driveway replacing my 4-5 year old Ring Stick Up Cam Elite. Super easy to setup in-app just like all my other Ring cams. Promptly automatically updated the firmware and good to go. Physical size is a bit larger than the one I was replacing, but still looks clean from the outside of my house above my garage door. Settings all similar to the other Ring cams and detection settings and alerts super easy to set as well. Compared to the prior cam, I suppose the images are a little sharper during daytime. But definitely better at night time with the night vision (which was one of the motivators to get this upgraded cam). I would definitely recommend this as an outdoor cam. Not cheap, but hopefully it can be found on sale. I hope this lasts for at least the next 5 years in the elements (winter is right around the corner!).

The Ring Outdoor Cam Pro is a great camera from Ring. It comes with a Retinal 4K for the ultimate wide-angle video, 10x Zoom, Low-Light features. The Outdoor Cam Pro comes well packaged with all of the hardware separated and easily labeled. I love Ring products because they are very easy to setup and everything is user friendly. This camera was no exception. It was easy to I package and I was able to get it setup in no time. I was able to add it to the Ring app that has all of my other Ring cameras. The camera comes with a lengthy power cable and will need to be plugged up in order to operate. It does not come with a battery slot like some of my other Ring cameras. Some cameras run on battery only, some can run on either battery or a power cable. This one is only plug in powered. The picture quality is very good, as well as the quality of it’s night vision. The speaker can be easily heard if you need to talk to someone outside your home. Overall, I’m very pleased with this camera, just like I’m pleased with all of my Ring cameras.

The Ring - Outdoor Cam Pro is a great, high-quality somewhat portable camera packed with tons of features. It seems to be extremely responsive to movement and doesn’t have too much lag between actual movement and sound, so talking through the app to the device is reliable. I also have used older versions of another brand, and Ring’s response time is much faster. The video quality in the Ring is also a vast improvement over the other brand. I especially like the video resolution in dark environments. This helps when using as a security device outside monitoring hallways and doorways. The only negative I can see with the plugin models, is the lack of a battery backup feature. My only recommendation would be including battery backup capabilities in case the power goes down. In a power outage, the unit would no longer capture video footage. Also, the need for an outlet can limit where it can be placed. On the positive side, you do not need to worry about charging it or the battery dying while away. The app is full of features and extremely customizable and the device is very easy to setup and use.

Overall, the Ring Outdoor Cam Pro (2nd Gen is a nice) update on the previous version. The 4k picture is nice and clear during the day and at night. The extra LED does make a different when using the "spotlight" as it is brighter than the previous generation. Setup is as easy as possible in the Ring app as it walks you through the setup from start to finish. The ability to customize the camera is great with options to use "bird's eye zones", create custom motion zones, set sensitivity, alerts, and even create a schedule for the camera. To get the most out of the camera, you will have to purchase the monthly or annual Ring plan which allows you to save recordings in the cloud, sharing of video, package alerts, etc. There is always a cost to unlocking the true power of your Ring camera so know that going in. If you are looking for a nice, outdoor camera that can keep an eye on things, the Outdoor Cam Pro is a nice option, especially if you are replacing an existing device or adding to your Ring ecosystem. Do be aware that there is no battery backup for this camera so if you lose power, you will not be able to record video or view live.
