We understand how important it is for your device to pick up the correct motion. Being able to rely on the alerts to know when there are people at your home is an essential feature of the Ring Stick Up Cam. We want to ensure your device is working as intended by providing you with solutions to resolve the concern you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like you have some concerns with your device picking up motion. To get proper motion detection, cameras should not be placed facing a window or in front of a glass door. The motion detection range on Ring devices is up to around 30 feet with the Motion Sensitivity slider at the maximum level. If you turn motion sensitivity down, this range will be lower. To make sure you don’t miss important motion detection features and updates, make sure you have the latest version of the Ring app downloaded on your iOS or Android device.

If you're experiencing any delays with the recording on your Stick Up Cam, it could be due to the wifi signal. I'd recommend checking the RSSI on the Device Health page to start with. Having peace of mind that your Ring Stick Up Cam has a solid wifi connection is vital when it comes to your home security. This ensures you are able to access video anytime day or night. The Ring Stick Up Cam is designed to connect you to video consistently and reliably. When attempting to connect to live video, if you get a blurry screen along with a message that the Ring App is having trouble connecting to the Ring device, this can be attributed to the wifi connection. Certain materials can reduce the range of wifi signals or even block them. Here are some examples of things that can interfere with your Ring cam’s signal strength:
-Heavy-duty walls and floors made of materials like concrete, brick, or metal.
-Household objects such as fish tanks, bookcases and mirrors.
-Windows made of Low-E glass also cause interference.

Additionally, competing wifi networks and other electronic devices can weaken the wifi quality. We suggest checking the Device Health section of your Ring app to ensure the device’s RSSI is within an acceptable range. Ring devices generally work best within the range of 0 to -60 RSSI. If you notice the RSSI is outside this range you can try bringing the camera inside next to your router and test the performance for improvements.

The free Rapid Ring app, developed by Ring, is a companion to the original Ring app that allows for a faster response to notifications or to enable a Live View faster. You can use the Ring app and Rapid Ring app in conjunction with one another and don't have to worry about interference with your devices. You can download the free Rapid Ring app at the App store (iOS - Apple) or Google Play Store (Android) and use the same email address and password that you use for your regular Ring app. Rapid Ring is a "light" version of the classic Ring app with most of the features stripped out except for the ability to activate a Live View and respond to an event as quickly as possible. By using the Rapid Ring app in conjunction with the original Ring app, you'll be able to answer your notifications as quickly as possible. If you add a second Doorbell or Camera to your home, you would need to purchase a second Basic plan to unlock video recording on that device. You may need to try adjusting the motion zones and motion settings you have in place, as everyone's home environment is different. It sounds like the device is not operating as intended. Stick Up Cam Battery is a versatile security camera that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Ring Stick Up Cam Battery features 1080p full HD resolution, Color Night Vision, Two-Way Talk, HD video recording, a wide angle view, and Customizable Motion Zones. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance.

As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in the Ring Stick Up Cam may experience several issues including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:

36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.

The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, under Motion Settings for your device in the Ring app you can:

Adjust your Motion Sensitivity slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your Customizable Motion Zones.
Change Motion Frequency to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

You can go to Power Settings in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.

To access Power Settings, open the Ring app:

Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
Tap Devices.
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap Power Settings to check your Battery Level percentage and Feature Power Usage .
Tap a feature to adjust Snapshot Capture, Motion Frequency and Video Recording Length.

The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distance. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the Motion Frequency setting. It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This includes increasing the "Motion Sensitivity" and setting "Motion Frequency" to "Frequently" in the Ring app.

Accuracy in motion detection can also be improved by enabling Smart Alerts for people only in your Ring app.

To enable Smart Alerts:

Tap the menu (≡) on the top left.
Tap Devices.
Tap the device that you want to adjust.
Tap Motion Settings.
Tap Smart Alerts.
Tap Enable Feature.
Tap Continue.
Select the notification options that you want for Person and Other Motion.
You'll see a video camera where you can select or de-select recording and a bell icon to represent alert notifications.

Ring understands the importance of having your Ring Stick Up Cam, online and working so you can keep your home secure. We know you rely on your Ring Stick Up to keep your home secure.

The Stick Up Cam is designed to work in many environments to provide you with peace of mind and security.

If you're not able to successfully complete a setup, try rebooting your modem and/or router. Since your router and modem are usually the hardest working devices in your house, these devices like to be rebooted about once a month for optimal performance.

To reboot these devices, follow the instructions below:

Unplug your router or model from its power supply (don't just turn it off).

If your router and modem are separate, unplug both of them.

Wait at least 30 seconds, then plug them back in.

Wait for your internet to be restored.

Confirm that your internet has been restored by connecting another device to your wifi network and trying to access a website, then repeat the setup process.


When you’ve tried everything else, and setting up your Ring device still isn’t succeeding, try performing a hard reset. To perform a hard reset on any Ring product, hold down the setup button for just over 15 seconds and then release it.

We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Solar Panel is not fully charging your Ring Stickup Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could cast a shadow on your solar power device, such as an extended roof, tree branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.

The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera.
