      Hi Santi.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Stick Up Cam so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.

It sounds like the device is not performing as expected. The Ring Stick Up Cam is our leading indoor and outdoor-ready security camera with flexible mounting options. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal battery-life performance. The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app, you can:

Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
      Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery.

To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:

Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the dashboard.
      Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check.
Tap "Power Settings" to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency," and "Video Recording Length.".

*As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Security Cameras may experience several issues, including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to:

36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently.
32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery.
-5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up.

When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.

We recommend using the Ring Solar Panel or the Ring Plug-In Adapter to assist with extending the life of the battery in your Ring Stick Up Cam.

If any additional information is needed regarding your Ring Stick Up Cam, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring.

Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

Purchased in September of 2021, threw it in the trash July 2022. Camera was great for the first few months before it went down hill. Batteries are horrible once the weather gets bad and then they are worthless for good, App constantly acts up, camera going off when it shouldn't and not going off when it should. I regret wasting my money and time on this junk.

Hi neighbor. Setting up a new can sometimes be tricky. As a best practice, it's always a good idea to be in the same room as your WiFi router for setup. You'll also want to make sure that the phone you are using is up to date with it's OS. You can also setup a device using a tablet, such as an iPad. This Help Center article here covers how to setup a device from start to finish: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001773266-Setting-Up-Your-Ring-Video-Doorbell-1st-generation-in-the-Ring-App. If you have any further questions or concerns, try browsing the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/. Hello jand,
Thank you for leaving a review of the Ring Stickup Camera and sharing your user experience with us. We understand how important it is to ensure that the battery is holding its proper charge and how cumbersome recharging the batteries can be. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. Please know that we are here to resolve these concerns with you today.
This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773. The more events are captured by your Ring device, the more your battery is used. Also, using Live View often can drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In order to prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change the motion frequency to "regularly or periodically," or adjust the direction of your Ring device, so it doesn’t detect as much motion.
If after trying these steps, you are still experiencing issues, we would love to investigate this further with you. Please feel free to check out our community forum at https://community.ring.com/for additional tips and support!

      Hello BUYANDRETURN,

Having the freedom to mount your Stickup Camera and change the video’s orientation is imperative to reviewing past video footage. You are correct, the Stick Up Camera does have a ceiling mount bracket that can be installed during set up. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information regarding this concern.

The Ring Stick Up Cam can be mounted anywhere on a wall or roof, but works best when mounted approximately five to seven feet off the ground. Hello Amboyroy,

It is imperative to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security and the battery life in your Ring camera plays a big role in that. The Ring Stick Up Cam Battery is designed to be a DIY home security solution that can be trusted to provide you with lasting service. While Ring batteries can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment.

Battery life is heavily dependent on frequency of use, therefore, please consider the following. If you have located your device in a high traffic area, please ensure the motion settings accurately reflect your needs. For example, you could reduce the size of the motion zone to pick unnecessary movement and thus save battery life. If your needs require maximum performance, consider using a Ring Solar or Super Solar Panel. These can help trickle charge the battery and extend the time between manual recharges.

Additionally, the battery life may be affected by poor signal strength. If you've noticed wifi issues, such as poor video quality or trouble connecting to live video, a wifi extender such as the Ring Chime Pro may improve the signal getting to your camera. A cost-effective alternative would be to relocate your router (or camera) in an area that has less interference, even a couple feet can make a big difference.

Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support! We look forward to helping optimize your battery life.

      Thanks,
      Alexis with Ring Ring

      Hi User.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of your Ring Stick-Up Cam working consistently and reliably. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick-Up Cam are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We would love the opportunity to work with you to ensure your device is functioning as intended.

It sounds like your device was previously working but may have lost it's wifi connection. It is possible that your wifi signal is not strong enough where your device is installed. Physical obstructions between your Ring device and wifi router, such as large metal appliances, multiple walls, heavy furniture, or concrete, stone, or other dense building materials, can cause decreased wifi strength. You can try bringing your device closer to your router to set it up again. Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in Device Health to confirm it has successfully reconnected.

If your Ring device gets disconnected from wifi by network or battery error, you'll see a red icon on your Device Dashboard in the Ring app, letting you know your device needs attention. Tap the red icon and follow the instructions on the error screen to help you troubleshoot your issue. You'll see an error code with alphanumeric characters (i.e., P1-65, P1-67, and P5-01), along with suggestions of things to check and things to try. Visit our support center for more information.

Ring Community was launched to help deliver the most current news and educational information to our neighbors. This online forum is divided into four categories: Product Boards, Ring Updates, Tips + Tricks, and a Moderators’ Corner. The Product Boards are where you can begin new topics with your questions or feedback; there is also a search option that helps you find topics that have already been posted by other neighbors.

Thank you for taking the time to share your Stick Up Camera experience with us. What you describe isn't what we want you to encounter, and can assure you that we are here to help. You should be able to enjoy the peace of mind that Ring Stick Up Cam is designed to add to your home security. We completely understand the relevance of having your device online and connect to your wifi network, as this ensures you can access the camera to check on activity around your home anytime day or night.

Although they are rare, disconnects can occur and can usually be traced back to nearby interference or underlying network issues. Both of which are easily resolved with a few changes. A common solution to most network related problems is creating a guest network. You could then pair the Ring Stick Up Cam to the guest network to ensure the device remains online. Another thing to consider is wifi interference caused by a nearby object or material. Things such as brick, metal, stucco etc. can diminish a wifi signal as it reaches your camera. Do you happen to have your camera mounted on any of these surfaces? Additionally, network and environmental interference can contribute to the camera's ability to stream live video.

Our priority is ensuring you to have a device you can rely on to keep you connected to activity around your home. Please check out our community forum at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support.

      Thank you,
      Alexis with Ring Ring

We are constantly pushing ourselves to develop products to empower users with an affordable, effective way to monitor and secure their home. We understand how important it is to have your devices working as intended, as it offers a level of security in your home.

Based on your review, it seems that you are not fully satisfied with your Ring Stickup Camera picking up the correct motion and keeping a charge. While batteries in Ring devices can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home’s environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. This article will detail some of the factors that may cause your battery to require more frequent recharges: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/208190773

Also, the Stick Up Cam uses infrared motion capturing to detect motion within its field of view. You can use the Ring app to determine the Stick Up Cam’s motion detection range and the specific zones where motion will trigger a smart alert. These settings help ensure that the Stick Up Cam will capture the events you want to see and ignore the ones you don’t. Here is a helpful article with more information on how to resolve motion concerns with your device: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213106363-How-to-Set-Up-Motion-Detection-for-Your-Stick-Up-Cam.

      Hi WilliamM.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand the importance of a seamless setup process so that you can begin using your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery device right away. The features and technology provided by the Ring Stick Up Cam Battery are incredibly valuable and help provide you with peace of mind about your home security. We can definitely assist you with this today, and we are confident we can get your device up and running as intended.

It sounds like your device is failing to find the temporary "Ring-" wifi network. The temporary wifi network called "Ring-" is broadcast by your device during setup. If you're having trouble finding this network, you should restart the setup procedure. When you get to this step, look for a slowly pulsing light on your device. This means the device is broadcasting the network. Now, try the setup process again. If you don't see this light, you may have a malfunctioning unit.
