Works fine, but still not enough flexibility

The original one I purchased from Best Buy had issues where it would pop in and out of night vision all the time instead of staying locked in one or the other. I received a replacement from ring customer service without a problem. My biggest issue with this camera is you can’t mount it on a ceiling or overhang and invert the picture in the app yet. I’m hoping this gets fixed with an update soon. It can be done with the indoor camera, but not this one yet. Very disappointing

It sounds like you are experiencing issues with the camera's view from the ceiling. The Ring Stick Up Cam is our leading indoor and outdoor-ready security camera with flexible mounting options. Ring Stick Up Cam must be positioned right-side up if it is mounted on the ceiling. If Ring Stick Up Cam is mounted upside-down, videos viewed with a Ring Protect Plan subscription will also be upside-down. Video orientation cannot be changed in the Ring app. Your Ring Stick Up Cam can keep your home protected from indoors and outside — whether it’s sitting on its stand or mounted to the ceiling using a Ring Stick Up Cam Mount (sold separately).

I recommend it if you're using it for close quarter areas, anything further from 10-15 ft away is hard to see details of. It worked in terms of keeping people from looking inside my car and "shopping". I would say the only improvements it needs to work on is camera quality and the motion detection is a hit or miss, even with the settings up all the way. It'll detect but start recording super late.

First and foremost, we thank you for your business and the opportunity in serving your home security needs. The Ring Stick Up Cam is designed to connect you to 1080p HD video consistently and reliably. We understand how important the video feature is, as this allows you to see your visitors.
Poor video quality or connectivity can sometimes be caused by a wifi issue. We recommend running a distance test in order to discover what video resolution you are receiving at your router, compared to how it performs when mounted. For the best results, please do the following:
1. Remove your Ring Camera from its mounting and bring it into the same room as your wifi router.
2. Be sure you've turned off your cellular data and connected to the same 2.4GHz wifi network as your Ring device.
3. Open your Ring app on your smart-phone or tablet.
4. Trigger a motion event on your Ring Camera.
5. Examine the resulting video.
There are two possibilities that will occur during the distance test: the device will have crisp and clear video as it is intended to have, or the video will still be of poor quality.
If you find that the video is clear, and you are connected fast, then we recommend improving the wifi signal to your Ring camera by connecting it to a wifi extender, such as the Ring Chime Pro. However, if you find that the video is still of poor quality or takes too long to load, then you will want to address issues with your wifi speeds.

I returned it and purchased the Ring camera (after researching it's capabilities). This battery operated camera worked exactly how I anticipated. I have the camera set up at least 40 miles from my residence and with it's wifi capability, I can monitor any intrusion. I actually purchased the Ring Spotlight camera as well and love it!

We put ours a pole on the patio. Can see from one end of long yard to the other. It came with instructions and you can see them on YouTube. I got it in sale at Best Buy. It comes with 30 day free trial video recording. You must purchase a plan ($3 a month) if you want your future videos recorded and saved. It still works. Yay. I didn’t purchase a plan yet.

Purchase an extra battery to always have one on hand and charged to switch out every 4 weeks or so. Can't have the solar panel option w/ my HOA and with the camera location - battery is the best option. Overall happy with the purchase.

I have a second home in another state and used this camera to monitor the property. Being battery-powered, the device is very portable and does not restrict me to where I place it. The battery has a life that exceeded 4 weeks for my use, and allowed me to check video, listen for sounds and even speak to contractors who entered the house if needed.
