I bought it to keep track of a dog that was wearing a cone and I wanted to make sure he wasn't playing with it when I wasn't around. It has a nice long power cord and I believe the camera has improved over my older Ring devices..

We are able to tell them so stop even while at work! It has a great visual range. We are able to see a lot of area on the side of our yard to the sliding door of our back entrance. Easy to install and we haven’t had any issues. Great product.

worse than expectation but worked eventually

Bought several but exchanged about 30% since they either could not detect motions within 5 feet or were not being charged by the solar panels which had no problem at all after three days! After several rounds of buying and exchanging plus climbing the ladder for many times, I eventually made all of them work! I am curious how Ring did the quality control when releasing the products. Can you imagine 30% were not working initially?!

We understand the importance and value of having your Ring Stick Up Cam detect motion as intended so that you can effectively monitor your home. We are here today to provide you with information regarding the motion detection and solar panel issues that you mentioned in your review.
It is important to ensure that you have the proper motion settings in place for your environment. This camera uses adjustable motion detection and runs on passive infrared sensors. The system identifies visitors via a moving heat signature and sends a notification to your smart device when one is detected. You can adjust three preset motion zones and their distances under the "Motion Settings" tab on the device's page in the Ring app. Additionally, you can choose how often the camera checks for movement in those predefined zones via the "Motion Frequency" setting. If you find that your camera is missing some motions, please set the motion frequency to "Frequently."
There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your Ring Solar Panel set up for optimal performance. The device's battery level may vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. It is important to ensure that your Ring Solar Panel is installed correctly and that it is receiving enough direct sunlight to operate as intended. For best performance, Ring recommends at least two to three hours of direct sunlight for the Ring Solar Panel. With the recommended amount of direct sunlight, the device will remain continuously charged under most conditions.
Make sure there are no obstructions or objects that could cast a shadow on your solar panel, such as an extended roof, tree, or bush. Seasonality and how far north (or south) you live can affect the strength of the sun. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, install your solar panel facing south. If you live in the southern hemisphere, install it facing north. Ring recommends using the adjustable arm to angle the panel at about 45 degrees toward the sky to get the most sunlight possible.

Full 1080P resolution camera with clear audio. The only fault is when the free 30 day Ring protection plan expires you need to pay for an expensive plan to continue to use all the features the camera offers.
