      Hi JoanaB.

Thank you for sharing your experience.

We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Stick Up Cam so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Stick Up Cam, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home. We can definitely provide you with more information regarding the concern mentioned in your review.

It sounds like your battery is draining quickly. The batteries in Ring devices are designed to go months between charges under normal conditions. However, real battery life is dependent on a number of factors, such as local weather, the number of events captured, and the frequency of activation.

The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using Live View often can also drain your battery faster.

If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner.

To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, change the motion frequency to regularly or periodically, or adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.

Setup was a breeze. The wire-free design meant I could mount it wherever I needed without worrying about finding an outlet. The instructions were straightforward, and I had it up and running in under 10 minutes. The video quality is outstanding. The 1080p HD resolution delivers crisp, clear footage, both during the day and at night. The night vision mode is surprisingly detailed, providing peace of mind even in complete darkness. Motion detection works flawlessly. I appreciate the customizable motion zones that help reduce false alerts—no more unnecessary notifications from swaying tree branches! Plus, the instant notifications ensure I’m always in the loop. The two-way audio is another standout feature. It’s perfect for communicating with delivery personnel or even scaring off potential intruders. The audio quality is clear on both ends. I love that it’s versatile for indoor and outdoor use. The weather-resistant design has held up well during light rain and windy conditions. Finally, the integration with the Ring app makes it super convenient to monitor my home remotely. I also appreciate the option to add cloud storage with Ring Protect—it’s affordable and worth it for peace of mind. Overall, the Ring Stick Up Cam is a dependable, user-friendly security camera with great features at a reasonable price. Whether you’re looking to secure your home indoors or outdoors, this is a fantastic choice!

This product has good and bad features. Easy to install and connect. It has the option to use with or without purchasing the annual service. The annual service falls within my budget. I like you can add as many cameras as you like. It has great zoom option; you can share videos with other people. The downside is it seems to have a lag period, it also doesn't capture every movement, including major movements. Very confused on how it can miss large moving motions. It's good but not great.

      Hi TINA.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us.

We understand how important it is for your device to detect motion consistently and reliably. The Ring Outdoor Cam (Formerly known as the Ring Stick Up Cam) is designed to detect motion based on your specifications so that you are notified of all motion events that matter to you. We would love the opportunity to work with you to get your device performing optimally for your home's environment.

It sounds like you have some concerns with your device's motion detection. If your device appears to be missing a lot of motion, you may want to check the motion frequency setting. The motion frequency control allows you to reduce alerts from repetitive patterns of motion or increase alerts so you get notified about the motion events that matter to you.

Follow these steps to adjust the motion frequency:
Tap the menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard.
      Tap Devices.
Select the device you'd like to adjust.
      Tap Motion Settings.
      Tap Advanced Settings.
      Tap Motion Frequency.
      Select Frequently, Regularly or Periodically.
Frequently: Motion detection always stays active. Shortest battery life.
Regularly: Motion detection takes a short break after each Motion Alert. Medium battery life.
Periodically: Motion detection takes a longer break after each alert. Maximum battery life.
Tap Save in the upper-right corner.

A lot of flaws, but battery isn't one of them

I'll try to make this as to-the-point as possible. This feels in every way like a budget camera. The $79 sale price I paid feels a bit much, I think around $50 is the correct price for these. After all, the housing is thin, cheap plastic. There's no premium feel to anything about these cameras or how they function. As I'll outline later, it's a bit of a "razor/razorblade" situation (for those who don't know, that sales concept is that the razor is free but they make their money off selling you razorblades). If you don't subscribe to a Ring Protect plan, they limit the camera's function to a degree that I believe is unacceptable. Because they limit the functionality without a subscription (some of which was communicated beforehand, some of which I found out after owning it - like the Live View freezing described below - I would fall on the side of not recommending it). The good: + Battery life is pretty good. This was my main concern after reading the reviews. After a month of use, battery is at 88%. Assuming it's linear, that means I'll only be charging these devices every 9-10 months at most. + The image quality is pretty good. The sound can be a bit difficult to hear and the viewing angle isn't as good as Arlo but it's passable. The bad: - If you don't subscribe to the Ring Protect Plan ($100 year for unlimited devices, $30/year for a single device), they disable "People Only Mode." This meant I was getting a lot of alerts when nothing was happening, perhaps a change in shadow or a gust of wind blowing a leaf, who knows. Even when I adjusted motion sensitivity to minimum. This also ate away at my battery. So really you need to go into this knowing that you're signing up for a subscription. - Even if you do subscribe, the activity monitor is not accurate - again this goes with the comment that this is a budget camera product. I've had packages show up at my door, 7 feet from the camera, with no alert. - Glitchy Live View. Both of my Stick Up cameras have the same issue which was conveniently fixed after I signed up for the Ring Protect Plan. Before doing so, if I got a motion alert, I would naturally want to look at the Live View. However, both cameras would freeze on "Activating Device." What happened was I'd get an alert, and the devices would go dormant for 10 minutes. - Random shutoffs. One of my devices occasionally just stops working (brand new). This has happened twice in the month I've owned it. I pop out the battery and put it back in and it restarts. I wonder if the battery is just not secure (goes back to lack of premium build quality). If it happens again I'll tape the battery in. - If your intent is to point the camera down, like at your front door from the side, the max pivot angle before the camera hits its mounting base will likely not work for you. I had to spend $20 on a ceiling mount kit - which honestly should just come with the camera - to provide the camera with enough space to tilt down and capture my entire front door.

      Hi JDMWDC,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. It is important that the motion detection features on your Ring Stick Up Cam Battery meet your needs and expectations. We know you've selected Ring to keep you updated on activity around your home, and receiving notifications when activity is detected is essential.

All Ring battery powered devices “see” the world through a network of three linked passive infrared (PIR) sensors. These are heat sensors that detect motion by monitoring heat within the detection area. Since people are hotter than the surrounding areas, as a person enters the detection area, the heat measurements change. The motion sensors register this change as movement and send out an alert. If your camera is missing motion, it may be necessary to adjust the Motion Frequency setting within the Ring App. Motion Frequency allows you to tweak your motion detection protocols to provide a balance between consistent alerts and preserving battery life.

We would love to connect you with our Ring product specialist to help optimize the motion detection as well as determine why the camera occasionally stops working and provide you with a solution. Please reach out to us at amazon.advocates@ring.com, so we can improve your overall Ring experience and ensure the camera's features are meeting your needs.

      All the Best,
      Danielle from Ring

Easy to install the battery. Easy to attach to the surface of choice, I chose vinyl siding outdoors. Easy to set-up and connect to the Ring home network. Unobtrusive design for observing with stealth, yet easy to spot for those who know what to look for. The cost is less or on par than all the other systems I researched (except for ADT which provides free equipment but locks you into a high-priced 5-year monitoring contract) but the utility and quality of the products is similar to other systems (Vivint, ADT, Simplisafe). Video quality is great. It is easy to view recordings and live view. Good night vision as well. So far the battery is holding up well given how much I use the live view.

Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020 I was a little hesitant after reading reviews about the battery life, but pulled the trigger to experience the product for myself. After doing my research, it all comes down to making adjustments to your camera settings to conserve the battery life - so battery life wasn't an issue. Overall, the setup to installation process was extremely easy and love the fact that you can set "home" or "away" mode to help conserve your battery life even longer. The picture quality is excellent and love the fact that it's a wide-frame view. I personally like the product, but to each their own. I would definitely repurchase this product again.

These are great little cameras; the issue is simply this. They are so easy to setup and use I think I might have gotten a little carried away. My home now has more cameras running than my local Wells Fargo! Caution, the battery life is good, but I do recommend having a couple of spares to cycle around as you recharge others.

I picked up the Ring Stick Up Cam for the outside of my house after noticing some sketchy activity at night, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s completely wire-free, so installation was super simple—I had it up and running in no time. The video quality is excellent, especially at night. I can clearly see anything moving around, whether it’s someone sneaking too close or just a neighborhood cat passing through. The night vision works way better than I expected. What I didn’t plan for was how much I’d enjoy catching late-night wildlife on camera. I’ve seen raccoons, owls, and even a few deer wander past. It's honestly become a fun little bonus—like my own nature cam! The motion alerts are fast and reliable, and the Ring app is really easy to use. It gives me peace of mind when I’m home or away, knowing I can check in anytime. If you’re looking for a dependable, easy-to-use outdoor cam, this one’s definitely worth it.
