The basic subscription service is inexpensive and seems to be the same among all the providers, but honestly it doesn't do anything a tiny memory cards in the unit couldn't do. The subscription allows you to have a short history of the activity picked up by the camera. Otherwise all you get is live footage with no recording. What kind of security is that?! The problem with these subscription services is there is no guarantee they won't just raise the rates at a later date. It's $30 per year per unit now, but next year it could be $45, then $50. What can you do about it?

We do provide information to our customers about the optional Ring Protect Plans in a welcome email after set up, as well as on our website at https://ring.com/protect-plans.
While subscribed to one of our optional Ring Protect Plans, you will be able to access videos from every motion and live view event for up to 60 days (US). You can also access, download, and share past Ring videos. Without this service, you will still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to the Live View feature.

I feel so at easy when I’m in the house and away from my house. Knowing that if anything goes wrong I will get an immediate alert sent to my phone. That is awesome!! I also love the feature and other items they offer to you once you purchase the Ring!! I love it!! Whomever invented this was an absolute genius!!!
