It does…ok. We initially had been taking the battery down and charging it but considering it was mounted outside near our roofline, that proved to me annoying climbing a ladder every few weeks. The battery doesn’t last as long as it says and then it takes quite a while to charge. So we opted for the solar charger which worked great. It doesn’t always pick up motion like we think it should when things are clearly within the parameters. Now, the camera has just decided to quit working all together. We think water may have gotten inside but are unsure. So disappointing to buy a camera that is supposed to work outside for it to be so susceptible to rain. Not to mention it has barely rained lately. I am not even going to bother contacting their customer service for replacement as I hear they only offer you a discount on another. Not sure I want to risk buying another that won’t last a year. Unless you are dedicated to the brand, I would look elsewhere or only use it inside.

It sounds like your Ring Outdoor Cam is not performing as expected. We would love the opportunity to share with you some troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your Ring Outdoor Cam functioning as intended. If your device is unresponsive, try pressing and holding the reset button for 20 seconds. Follow the steps in the Ring app to reconnect the camera to your network. To reconnect a Ring Outdoor Cam to your wifi network: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (≡). Tap "Devices" and select the camera you'd like to reconnect to wifi. Tap the "Device Health" tile. Under "Network," tap "Change Network" and follow the prompts in the app. Allow some time for your device to fully reconnect to the network, then check your wifi signal strength in "Device Health" to confirm it has successfully reconnected.

You never know what they are going to do. This helps keep your property safe. Also the app lets you leave personal videos if you wish to share with your ring community. I haven't had issues at my house with thieves. But neighbors a few streets over have had packages stolen off of their front porches. They upload pictures of the thieves. So we all know who they are. Including the police.

I'm using it to watch the backyard. We have neighborhood cats that come and eat my cat's food, then mark (sprays the automatic pet feeder So I scotch taped paper towel to the feeder and change when needed), The Ring alerts me when a cat is eating... The Ring shuts off when a cat is still there, why? there's still movement. Spay/Neuter please people... I may buy a wireless doorbell Ring when they're more affordable.

A few quirks and suggestions of note. These are really only worth it for outdoor cams or if placing somewhere where wiring isn’t an option. These battery cams won’t detect motion through glass windows. The plug in cams will. The plug in cams are also half the price and don’t ever need to have a battery changed. The plug-in Ring cams are also much smaller, lighter, and more stealth despite the need to be plugged in. The battery power doesn’t mean much say in a power outage because the wifi would be down anyways.
