I’m glad Ring came out with this model. I had the Ring doorbell 2 and switched it out for the Peephole cam. The resolution is even better then the Ring doorbell 2.

The only issue was that there is no backplate to cover existing holes. But as far as the actual product it is the best. I would recommend this product to anyone.

I have encountered a stalking situation and wanted a ring peephole for added security. I noticed I skipped a step and tried to go back one, but the film part got stuck and I wound up having to tear it out of my door. The camera was fine the second time around, but the thin cord film like part was still the issue. Overall this item gets 1 star.

Rest assured, we are here to provide you with a concrete resolution as quickly as possible.
It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the installation of the device. Ring Peephole Cam (Door View Cam) is a weather-resistant smart video doorbell with knock detection. It's designed for interior or exterior doors, that already have a peephole. We recommend following these steps to install the Ring Peephole Cam:
Remove protective film from device. This ensures your device works properly.
Plug the battery into a USB port using the provided orange cable.
The battery is fully charged when just one LED is lit. Keep in mind that it can take a full 5 to 10 hours to fully charge a Ring battery depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or a wall outlet.
Continue set up in the Ring app.
Put the included tool’s flat edge in the slots to unscrew.
Remove peep lens.
Smooth out the hole’s edges with the tool.
Remove cap
Optional: Install the large view hole adapter if needed.
Draw the cable out of the tube until there’s no slack.
Gently pull excess cable through clip.
Slide peephole cover up for privacy.

The main reason is because there are no wires you need to worry about!!! I’m leasing my current place, so I definitely didn’t want to mess with the electric wiring and replacing the regular doorbell and all that. This camera is battery operated. It took max 10 minutes to set up, and the quality on it is amazing! This replaces your current peephole we run easily. 100% recommend!

One of my best purchases for security. Easy to set up, works like a charm, and Battery Life is good. Tip: buy an extra battery so when you need to recharge your original battery, it’s a seamless transition without interruption. This product is excellent. I have given them as gifts. Especially Excellent for apartment dwellers.
