We understand how important it is to be able to hear and speak with visitors at your door with the Ring Peephole Cam. The two-way audio is an invaluable feature of the Ring Peephole Cam. We can definitely assist you with this today to ensure your Ring device is performing optimally.
It sounds like the audio quality is not as clear as expected. A poor wifi connection can often cause Ring device issues, including with recording or capturing audio. We recommend following these steps to check your Ring device's signal strength:
Open the Ring app.
Tap the top menu (☰), then Devices.
Choose your doorbell or camera device.
Tap the Device Settings tile.
Tap Device Health.
Under the Network section, you'll see your device's signal strength.
If your signal strength (RSSI) is amber or red, your Ring device likely has a poor connection to your location's wifi. Try moving your wifi router closer to your Ring device.

For those who rent you can take out the peephole and replace it with the ring peephole product and then remove it and replace the peephole back when you leave. There are no hard wiring and no need to have an original doorbell. Just install, charge, and enjoy. Very clear color image during the day and very clear night image. I also like how it has motion sensor that could sense when someone is nearby (you can set the range for that).
