    This allows for a quick change of battery for charging. Generally lasts about 5-6 months without a charge.

    If you are using the camera for outdoors and not hooked up to electric you need a backup battery. So that you have constant video. Yo never know when something is going to appear. And if you have only one battery,the one that came with the camera, not good! Call it insurance! Couldn't be without it!
