We have a spare ready to charge when we are alerted the battery is down to 20-30%. The battery holds a charge with our usage about 6 months. Easy to charge and swap out. In really cold weather (-5 or below F) the camera doesn't work, but Ring notes that.

Easy to replace. Comes with it's own little screw driver that cannot be duplicated. Lasts about a month....month 1/2 before having to replace with the xtra battery. A little pricey, but still holding the charge well after a year.

It charged up fine and is installed (the original ran down, even though fully charged at the time if installation) faster than I thought it would. Re: This battery - I erroneously bought a warranty package for it when I thought I was buying a warranty package for the doorbell itself! Ridiculous; wasted money. Now it's too late and I don't have the protection package I wanted on the doorbell. Be careful doing online orders if you want a warranty/protection package - make sure it's for the item you want it for. It was not clear to me that I was ordering the package only for the backup battery!

It’s not necessary to have because I have the solar panel charger for this camera. But it’s very nice to have when my battery on my front door runs low. I would recommend having a second battery to backup.
