Extra battery a must!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have a ring doorbell, depending on the activity level at your home/office, your battery will die and need charging/replacement. Having an extra already charged to just swap out makes all the difference!

Overall a Decent Battery
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Decent battery but only holds a charge for 1.5 to 2 weeks in high traffic areas. I always run two batteries in my cams and have one spare for the whole system to eliminate down time.

A much needed extra battery for my Ring Doorbell 2
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to the ring doorbell 2 over the winter. A spare battery is much needed because the battery dies every 2-3 days. On really cold days the battery drains in a little over 1 day. I keep one battery charging ready to replace the other.

Temps affect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased Ring system and extra components. Read online extra batteries and charger very helpful. Glad I purchased as battery charge in outdoor camera lasted short time. Ring Help indicated outdoor temps affect length of charge. Cold shortens. Outdoor temp yesterday was 50 with bright sun shining on camera just installed. Started out with battery at 51% and three hours later it was at 3% with no activity in back of home. I recommend this as it is the ones the Ring equipment uses and you have to have it but very disappointed at performance in cold weather. Will add a solar panel.

Posted .Hi My2cents.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring device so that you are able to have a longer time between charge cycles. Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.
As cold weather sets in, lithium-ion batteries like those used in Ring Doorbells and Ring Security Cameras may experience several issues including trouble holding a charge, running out of power faster than normal, or losing functionality. Knowing at what temperature batteries will start to be impacted can help you take the necessary steps to keep your device working. When the temperature drops to: 36°F (3°C): The battery may not hold a charge as effectively, resulting in having to charge the unit more frequently. 32°F (0°C): The battery may not charge at all. Even hardwired configurations may not charge the battery. -5°F (-20.5°C): The battery may stop working completely until temperatures warm up. When it gets cold and your device's battery runs out, bring your entire device inside and charge the battery with a USB cord. This will allow your device to warm up while the battery charges.
The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" often can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery. To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard. Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check. Tap "Power Settings "to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency" and "Video Recording Length."
If any additional information is needed regarding the battery life of your device, please reach out to our community. Ring Community is our first peer-to-peer community forum, giving our customers the ability to help one another and share their feedback and experiences directly with Ring. Thank you for being the best part of Ring! Have a wonderful day!

Frustrating
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm perplexed on these batteries one came with the camera and I purchased another to use while the other was being charged. Unfortunately, one battery charges as expected and the other takes two days to charge and must be charged more often than the other. I have changed the settings on the camera reducing the distance on the camera so that they are in use less often and nothing has changed with the way I have to charge the batteries. I brought the battery back to the store explaining this to the rep and was told Best Buy could not replace the and that I needed to contact Ring.

Posted .Hello Nette,
Your experience with Ring is our top priority, and it is important to us that when investing in our products they meet your need and expectations. We agree that getting the most life from your Ring battery is essential, so that it can provide you with round the clock coverage. The majority of our doorbells run on a removable, rechargeable, quick-release battery pack (one is included in the box). The doorbell can be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer for continuous charging (8-24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz).
While the battery in your Ring doorbell can go months between recharges with normal use, this is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment, such as the local weather and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring doorbell, the more your battery is used to power the live HD video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the live view to look or speak through your camera.
To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, or change the motion frequency. Motion Frequency is a user-accessible control that allows you to adjust your motion detection protocols to provide a balance between consistent alerts and preserving battery life. This article will detail exactly what Motion Frequency is, and how you can best utilize it to optimize your Ring device's motion detection capabilities: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003477106-Understanding-and-Optimizing-Motion-Detection-with-Motion-Frequency.
