I highly recommend buying this if you have a ring doorbell because when the battery dies in your doorbell, you’re practically left uncovered until you charge it and put it back in, BUT with this backup battery, you simply replace it with the dead one. And you charge the dead one, so that when the replacement dies, you can repeat the process again, without missing footage

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, and although it comes with one unit, the camera can utilize two for better longevity and no downtime between battery swaps. The Spotlight Camera only runs one battery down at a time, and on my backyard camera, I got two weeks of time from 100% to 20%. The camera usually records five times a day, when I let my dog outside. It takes a few hours to charge on a 10W iPad charger. The provided microUSB cable is a nice bonus.

It works like it’s supposed to. I took the old one out. I put the new one in. And life is back to normal. Not sure that earns any less than five stars.

Having longevity in a battery-powered security device is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here to provide you with some education to resolve the battery life issue you mentioned in your review.
The Ring Quick Release Battery is a rechargeable battery pack for your compatible Ring Video Doorbell, Ring Security Camera, or Ring Solar Floodlight, so you'll always have backup power ready to go. There are some troubleshooting steps that you can take to ensure that you have your device set up for optimal performance.
The more events captured by your Ring devices, the more your battery is used. Using "Live View" often can also drain your battery faster. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. To prevent excessive activity, under "Motion Settings" for your device in the Ring app you can:
Adjust your "Motion Sensitivity" slider to a lower sensitivity.
Redraw your "Customizable Motion Zones."
Change "Motion Frequency" to regularly or periodically.
You could also adjust the direction of your Ring device so it doesn't detect as much motion.
You can go to "Power Settings" in the Ring app to see what features may be draining your battery. To access "Power Settings," open the Ring app:
Tap menu (≡) on the top left of the Dashboard. Tap "Devices."
Tap the individual device (video doorbell or security camera) you want to check. Tap "Power Settings "to check your "Battery Level" percentage and "Feature Power Usage."
Tap a feature to adjust "Snapshot Capture," "Motion Frequency" and "Video Recording Length."

It lasts a long time, and gives me the security knowing if I leave on a trip, I can put a fully charged one into my ring and charge the other and have it ready for the people collecting my mail while I am gone. That is if I decide to be gone longer then it lasts, which is a very long time, unless their is an extreme amount of activity around my home and my camera to record.

I also recommend getting the ring charging dock as it not only looks awesome but shows how much charge the batteries have. These batteries last about 2-3 months even in the Arizona hot summers.
