Having longevity in a battery-powered security device, such as the Ring Spotlight Camera Battery, is crucial when it comes to monitoring your home, especially if you are away for long periods of time. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.
It sounds like your device may be experiencing a high volume of events. Motion Zones allow you to define a specific area that you want your Ring doorbell or security camera to cover while ignoring everything outside that area. In order to get proper motion detection, battery-powered cameras using passive infrared motion detection should not be placed facing a window or in front of a glass door.
When adjusting your motion zones, take note of any high-traffic areas, such as busy streets or sidewalks. If you receive too many motion alerts from your Ring device, you may have to adjust the motion zone so it does not include these areas.
If you have adjusted your motion zones to eliminate high traffic areas and are still experiencing a high volume of events, visit our support center for additional troubleshooting steps.

Battery Life is Bad

The battery life is no good. Recordings are only 30 seconds when it detects motion. Not enough to record someone doing something wrong on your property. Motion detection only detects 10 feet from the camera. Video at night with my coach lights on and off are very bad. I have to recharge the battery once a week. My ring doorbell (Non-Battery)records up to 2 mins and motion detection is way more than 10 feet. It records out to the street. I have adjust the motion. I should’ve of purchased the non battery camera. I regret the purchase.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Great package deal

My hardwired cameras motion detection works better to capture. Have these hooked up to solar panels and no issues with 24/7 operations for over two months and counting.

The viewing distance is wide enough for my driveway. I can keep watch on my vehicle that is parked in the driveway most of the time. I would highly recommend this product...

Although motion detection is a certain distance, we camera view is clear for a good distance. Note that you have to pay to store videos if you plan to keep for any length of time.

At times it can be hard to set up or very frustrating when you change your wifi password and have to reset it. Aside from that I think its worth it!

Battery lasts a long time before another recharge depending on usage or you can buy the solar panel so you don't have to worry about taking out the battery. Will buy again if needed.

If a battery powered Camera doesn't work well with your home, you could look into the Spotlight Cam Plus Plug-In. You would not have to worry about accessing the Camera to change the battery as it plugs in for continuous power. Cameras were simple to install and wireless. I opened the package and charged the batteries overnight then installed, followed the instructions to connect online.

The spotlight cams have very good viewing quality but the battery life is beyond terrible. What they do not tell you is you can only use your device(s) for 30 days. Then they cut it off and force you to subscribe to their service. What make it worse is; if you have more than one device (two or more) they only have one really crappy choice for a subscription. They force you to take their monitoring service. It's one bundle, no options, no choices, no flexibility.

We do notify our customers about the cloud plan on our website (https://shop.ring.com/pages/protect-plans), in your Ring app during the first free 30-day trial of our cloud plan, as well as in your email about this service. I apologize for any miscommunication but we will work on providing even more transparency to our customers as we can in the future. With that said, all Ring devices will operate without an additional fee or subscription. You will receive alerts when visitors press your doorbell or trigger motion sensors in your device. You will also get live streaming video and two-way audio. There is, however, a Ring Protect Plan available. Ring Protect will allow you to review, share, and save Ring videos for as little as $3 a month. You can choose between Ring Protect Basic and Plus. Only issue is occasionally it detects a car 75-100 ft away, but not person 10 ft away and have tried different motion settings and positions of camera. Other than that works well, mainly catches deliveries being tossed on to the porch

Regardless of where I am, always a delay in getting video.... whats sense of having it if I cant get quick video... Ask friends about other options.....

The only drawback is that the motion detector can't differentiate between a person moving and a small branch moved by the wind or even by rain. As a result, you get a lot of alerts.

I like that the ring products tells me when someone is at my house. I always know if someone is there. Only thing is the internet has to be working and good internet service for to work.

All three of them are working perfectly together and we definitely feel safer knowing the house is covered from all angles now!

Battery lasts a long time without needing recharge (over a month) and camera can be adiusted to any angle you need and sensitivity to adapt to your every need. Also, can be turned off if you need it to be.
