Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a few Ring Spotlight Cameras (battery) for a couple of months now. One failed after 1.5 months of use and after an hour of troubleshooting with a Ring technician online, it was returned for replacement. Pros: The camera operates as advertised and seems to be quite effective. Vendor is quite responsive to problems and replaced a defective unit ni a timely manner. Cons: The battery charges quite slowly (many hours) and operates for only around 10-20 days on a full charge (based on my settings), so even with two batteries (which I have in both Ring units), you'll need to recharge the batteries once or twice a month. The housing for the batteries seems (I emphasize, seems, because I don't have enough experience to know for sure) to be flimsy. I anticipate that I'll have problems with replacing the batteries after around 20 replacements. Because one of the two units looks out to a moderately busy street, I set-up that unit to recognize people and ignore other movement (e.g., traffic). I still receive more than 50% false positive alerts of people moving in the field of view.

Although battery life can be consumed faster with certain settings, the Ring app provides a way to balance performance with battery life. This way, you get exactly what you need without excessive battery drain.

The Ring app provides a convenient Power Settings menu that helps make adjustments. Please launch the app and open the menu in the left-hand corner. Select the Devices tab and then select your Ring Spotlight Camera. The Power Settings tile will be listed on this page. Please follow the guidance within that tile to optimize your Ring battery.

It takes a couple of days to figure out the optimal position which depends on the surroundings/etc. It also takes time to adjust the settings in the app to the way you like them. I just make small adjustments and see how the camera responds. I continue this until I get it right. very good features and capability with the ring system.

Bought this one and the Ring Stick Up camera. This is the better choice, costs $20 more but gives you a spotlight, extra battery bay, alarm status light. Don't really like how the battery door closes. Feels cheap and not really closed. They could have improved on that.

Comes with 1 battery for each camera. each camera has space for an additional battery or hook up to Ring Solar Panel. We opted to put an extra battery in the 4 cameras. App allows you to monitor all cameras in a live view or the recording of anytime it’s sensor is triggered. In live view you can 2 way speak with anyone in range and turn lights on and off

Only thing I would advise anyone interested in buying these is to purchase an extra battery with it. Put my cam up and after a month I had to recharge the battery already. The unit can hold two batteries but Ring only ships you one battery.

It does only come with one battery so you may want to purchase another battery to extend power or go with solar panel. It syncs well with current ring doorbell but one drawback is it does require another membership if you want to save videos on cloud. Already have one for my doorbell so this seems like a money grab. I do like the security of having these devices.
