I have installed it outside in my patio area and I really like the quality of video and microphone. This also has a light which you can turn on using the app if it’s dark out. The camera also comes with the option of installing two batteries for a longer battery life. Would definitely recommend.

Solar panel only delays battery recharge, doesn't prevent need to recharge eventually so additional battery is helpful to prevent hassle of removing/recharging/re-installing. Also, wifi range isn't as far as I would like, so one camera isn't capable of "live" streaming.

Function's Great, Battery drains FAST!

I needed some cameras, and wanted light for nighttime to scare prowlers away, so these seemed perfect. I asked the salesman at Best Buy how long the battery in each should last me, and he said 3-4 months before recharge. I said GREAT! I can handle changing batteries up on a ladder a few times a year. Unfortunately, even with all motion sensors OFF, the battery lasted less than 2 weeks. I purchased extra batteries for an additional $35, and still the battery seems to drain pretty quickly. Now, looks like I'm going to have to spend another $100 on the solar panels and install those. Also, the signal is weak to the cameras, so I'm going to have to buy the Ring signal booster too. It's a shame, and maybe should have just went with my ADT system after all. The camera function is great and I love the Ring interface. That's my honest opinion. Thanks.

We, too, believe that nighttime motion detection is very important, since this can be when we feel most vulnerable. Please know that Ring takes your security and peace of mind very seriously. We are here to be of assistance and find a solution to this dilemma.
The more events captured by your Ring Spotlight Cam Battery, the more your battery is used to power the live HD Video stream to your device. Even if you do not answer the call, video is still sent from your Ring product to the Ring servers. If your device is capturing an excessive number of events each day, you may need to recharge your battery sooner. In addition, the battery is also drained each time you use the Live View to look or speak through your camera. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, adjust the motion frequency to best fit your needs, or adjust the direction of your Ring device.

Great solution for exterior security at your home

Plus it has the option of adding a second battery so you don't have to worry about replacing it often. I have had mine for a month and it is still at 70% battery (with only one battery) and we are constantly checking the live feed and the recorded videos.

Great camera and easy to install

Still trying to get used to setting the sensitivity to an appropriate level as it continues to capture cars passing by. Haven’t yet signed up for the storage but $3 a month doesn’t seem too bad. I also haven’t initiated the sharing with neighbors function but may try to do that soon. Overall I would recommend the product.
