Not all it’s cracked up to be

While the video quality is very good but the motion detection is terrible. They will pick up vehicles driving down my street, but pull in my driveway and it doesn’t activate until people have parked and are already out of sight. Motion activation is very intermittent and misses a lot of activity. To be honest, my Blink cameras are much more reliable and a heck of a lot cheaper with better battery life. Also I don’t have to pay $100 a year for storage. I cannot rely on these cameras for security. Will most likely be returning these. Save your money and opt for something more reliable at half the cost. The only reason I can give these two stars is for the video quality. Otherwise I would not give them 1 star.

Also, it continues to say the battery compartment door is open when it definitely is closed. When it does work the video quality is very good.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble with your Ring Spotlight Camera picking up the correct motion. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. I also about the solar panel to go with the camera, and as long as the panel gets a few hours of sun during the day, it keeps the one battery I have in the camera charged. You'll just need to occasionally wipe off the dust, every month or so.

The lack of 5Ghz Wi-Fi is frustrating and the app takes a while to load up the feed sometimes (my Wi-Fi coverage is optimal) so the video processing is delaying it a little more than I would like. Overall I’m pleased though.
