You can limit motion zones and it alerts you when it picks up people and not our shade covers. Definitely recommend this.

Based on your review, it seems that you are having trouble keeping your Ring Spotlight Camera battery charged. If this is the case, you may want to adjust your motion settings. Motion Frequency is a control in the Ring app that allows you to customize motion alerts to your home environment and preserve battery life. When the areas that you’re monitoring have excessive or repetitive motions, such as children playing in a yard, you may receive too many alerts, which can drain battery-operated devices too fast. Motion frequency controls were designed to help you get the notifications that you want and preserve battery life. Too much trouble to rewire so went with wireless spotlight cam. It works well.

Night vision is not what I thought it would be. (I bought for evening visibility.) Night vision is grey and black and no clear visibility of what's moving, meaning animal or person. And I do have quite a few garden lights in the ground but does not give enough lighting. . I will have to install some type of wall light in order to get clear color night vision. Would not recommend without additional wall lighting. However I do have 2 ring motion flood lights that I love and recommend highly.

Certain models of Ring devices have a night vision feature that allows you to see through the camera in low light conditions. By using infrared light, the camera can create a black and white image that is then beamed to the Live View in your app. By turning the color night vision feature on, the camera will use whatever ambient light is available to try and create a "false color" image in your Live View. This lets you get a better sense of what’s happening in the image by creating a false sense of color depth.
